"Hey, Superfish?" DJ asked, tilting his head slightly at the teal-haired witch sprawled across his bed — in which he had done without his permission, of course.
Said witch opened a single teal rimmed eye, the light reflecting on the little lines of colour. "Hm?" He hummed, stretching his arms far above his head.
DJ rested his face on his hand, leaning over the desk and looking off into the distance as he wondered how to phrase his thoughts into a proper sentence.
"You remember how we first met, right?" He asked, leading the witch to nod as he tilted his head, curious of the human's next words.
"That other witch — Toppleprey, wasn't it? He snuck into your house disguised as a rat." He finally looked back at Superfish, his tone holding wonder.
Superfish's expression morphed into a scowl, upset by the reminder. "Of course I remember that." His tone was laced with annoyance as he rolled his eyes. "What are you trying to say?" He questioned as the tan boy drummed his fingers on the table.
DJ scoffed at his response, shaking his head fondly. "So, is that a thing all witches can do? Transforming into animals, that is." He tilted his head once more, pondering about a witch's abilities.
Superfish took a moment to think before replying, bringing his arm under his head for it to rest on. "More or less, yes; most witches are taught it pretty early on in school." He replied calmly, his gaze focused on the ceiling.
Content with the reply, DJ hummed, before a small smile formed on his face. "So, then, are you able to do it?" He asked, bouncing his leg on the floor.
Superfish stared at him as a smirk made its way onto his face, his golden eyes sparkling with mischief. "Me? I'm the strongest witch to ever live, of course I can!" He exclaimed, sitting up on the mattress.
"Really? Prove it," DJ replied, crossing his arms, "Unless you're scared, of course." he teased, staring at the witch knowingly.
Superfish only chuckled, before his body was enveloped by a bright turquoise glow. DJ brought his arm up to his face, shielding his eyes from the light. A few moments later, he hesitantly removed his hand, cautiously peeking out.
He let out a sound of confusion as he realised the witch was nowhere to be seen, yelping in surprise when he felt something brushed against his leg. His head shot down, focusing on the turquoise cat that sat by his leg.
The feline meowed softly, crouching down to jump on his lap. DJ tensed up at the action, but relaxed and slowly raised his hand to stroke the soft fur. Golden eyes stared up at him, Superfish's tail flicking comfortably.
DJ let out a small puff of laughter, seeing the witch that was so confident and snarky turn into a calm, soft cat. He reached his hand under his chin, scratching it gently.
His eyes widened slightly as a subtle rumbling filled the room, Superfish purring as his eyes closed with bliss. DJ smiled slightly, continuing to pet the witch.
He froze as a quick scrabbling noise sounded from the doorframe, followed by an unsure hiss. He looked over to see Aloo bristling, growling uncertainly. Her eyes were fixed on Superfish, clearly upset by the unfamiliar face.
Superfish stood, his paws pressing into DJ's thigh as he hopped down from his lap, landing with a barely audible thud. He calmly padded over to the calico cat, form steady as he slowly approached.
Her nose twitched as she tentatively walked forward, sniffing the air. Slowly, her fur settled as she recognised Superfish's scent, trotting over as her ears perked up.
She curiously sniffed at the witch, walking around him as she observed the figure, likely trying to determine what had happened. DJ smiled gently, taking in the sight.
He rose from his seat, walking over to the pair that were now moments away from play-fighting. He reached for a bag of treats om the shelf, catching the attention of his actual cat. She meowed, looking up at him with wide eyes.
He plucked a few treats from the bag, scattering them on the floor. Aloo voraciously gobbled them up, meanwhile Superfish sniffed at one and deadpanned at him, his ears pinning back.
He leaped onto the bed, curling up on a pillow with a small flick of his tail. DJ sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress dipping slightly beneath his weight. He reached over, using a single finger to pet the turquoise feline.
Superfish leaned into the touch slightly, before drawing his head back as a teal glow began to once again surround his frame. In an instant, the witch was once again lying on his bed, smirking up at him from the pillows.
A soft patter of paws sounded as Aloo leaped up onto the bed, looking around before spotting the witch. She tilted her head, walking over to sniff at his hand. With a soft, slightly confused trill, she walked out of the room, her pawsteps near silent on the floor.
DJ watched her leave, a gentle smile on his face. turning to the turquoise-haired man, he hummed quietly. "Why a cat?" Curiosity laced his tone as he tilted his head ever so slightly.
Superfish stared up at him, before focusing on some spot on the ceiling. "You have a cat, I think they're kinda neat, and why not?" He answered honestly.
He stretched, his arms knocking DJ gently in the back. DJ let out a grunt before pouncing on the witch, pinning him down with his own weight. They stayed like that for a few skipped heartbeats, their gazes fixed firmly on each other.
They both smiled gently, not breaking eye contact. Eventually, they realised their position and separated, a faint blush coating each of their faces. They stayed silent for a minute or two, before one of them spoke up.
"So," Superfish started, his eyelashes contrasting with his skin as he closed his eyes. "Your first instinct was to pet me when I transformed?" He reopened his eyes, golden irises shining in amusement.
DJ laughed — actually, genuinely laughed at this, a short moment of joy. "Would you rather I played a board game with you instead?" His brown eyes reflected the evening light, his tone sarcastic and joking.
The witch shrugged, sitting upright beside the human. "Maybe. You also could've taken me out for food." He winked, smiling smugly. DJ rolled his eyes, shaking his head in disbelief. "What is it with you and food? Seriously..."
