Summary
Sokka's stomach dropped. It felt… wrong for somebody else to flirt with Zuko. He felt unexplainably uneasy. He wanted to go back to camp. Now. Before he realized he was speaking, the words were already out.
"We're pretty busy."
Three heads turned toward him, including Zuko's. The stranger looked annoyed. "I was asking him."
"I know."
An awkward moment passed as the alpha looked between them. "Oh. My mistake."
Sokka frowned. "What mistake?"
"I didn't realize."
"Realize what?"
"I thought he wasn’t mated."
Oh.
Did… did he think that Sokka was Zuko’s boyfriend? Hah. It might’ve been humorous if it wasn’t so surprising.

Sokka was perfectly happy being a beta...Probably. Okay, maybe not perfectly happy, but he had come to terms with it. Being the only nonbender in Team Avatar was bad enough. Being the only beta just made him feel even more painfully average. Then an alpha asked Zuko out in the middle of the market. Sokka woke up the next morning an alpha. Apparently, the universe has a sense of humor.
