''Hey, is Sakura here?'', Toma Hiragi asked, coming into class 1-1. ''Yeah. What do ya want?'', Haruka Sakura responded, not thinking much of it. ''Umemiya says that someone's here to see you. They wouldn't say why; not until they see you apparently.'', the older boy waved his kohai over.
''Wait, can Suo and I come with?'', Akihiko Nerei asked, Hayato Suo who was behind him just nodded behind him with that irritating smile he religiously wore.
''Sure, I guess. Why not. Just make it quick.'', Hiragi sighed.
Once the four young men made it to the school's rooftop they were greeted by Hajime Umemiya and Tasuku Tsubakino sitting across from an older-looking man on the bench.
The man's face looked familiar but Sakura couldn't look him in the eye for some reason.
''And who are these other two boys? I only asked to see him.'', the man spoke up in a harsh, monotone, cold voice.
Sakura immediately looked up at the man. That voice, that hair, those piercing golden yellow eyes whose only job was to intimidate, finally clicked into place.
''Sakura, who's this?'', Nerei asked, looking just as terrified as the boy in question. His trembling hands tugged at Sakura's gakuran.
Voices without form began yelling at Sakura.
''Murderer.''
''Disgusting waste of air.''
''It should've died instead of her.''
''Ew he's such a freak. I wish I wasn't related to him.''
''What a weirdo!''
''Waste of oxygen!''
''Human garbage!''
''Why don't you just kill yourself already!?''
Sakura's breathing became ragged and uneven. His eyes were wide with fear–no something worse... dread, consternation even. He wanted to throw up.
Suo, who had yet to say nor do anything spoke up: ''We are Sakura's vice captains. The real question is who might you be?'', he asked, his lone eye silently looking the man up and down.
''It's none of your Goddamn business who I am. I'm here to take that thing with me. This idiotic knave ran away from the foster home and decided to come to this shitty place and since they won't continue to pay me unless I have someone there, I have to bring it back.'', the man spat.
''Sorry, my deepest apologies.'', Suo said; but Suo being the little shit he is didn't end there. ''The real question we should be asking is just who the hell are you to talk down to Sakura like he's nothing but an insolent bug?–''
Whoever this man was, he was horrible enough to get a dead stare from Suo, which is harder than it seems. Suo is always the composed vice captain who's ever ready to tease his grade captain; he never loses his cool.
''Suo, stop.'', Sakura stopped his friend from saying anything further in that firm voice he spoke to him with back at KEEL's hideout, however there was a certain shakiness within it this time.
''Just... stop this time.''
Even Umemiya, along with Hiragi were surprised by their kohai's actions.
''He's my... father...'', Sakura choked out.
The rooftop was quiet. The rooftop was never quiet. Not since Sakura spilled his guts out about his past. Not since he opened up to his true family–Furin.
''Well, if you are, we aren't letting you lay a single hand—''
Sakura cut off Umemiya before he could finish his sentence.
''I said stop. I-I'll go with you.'', the monochromatic boy's voice had never been so soft yet so firm before.
They all stopped to look at Sakura, stunned.
''See? I guess those days you spent in your kennel weren't in vain after all?'', Waru Sakura smirked.
Sakura moved as if his legs knew the procedure already and carried him to his father. With his head down, teeth clenched, fists balled, shoulders tense and close to his neck, Haruka Sakura stood with nothing to say for what seemed like the first time in a long time.
''Tch, disgusting. Cover your revolting hair until we do something about it.'', he spat again, this time earning a flinch from his son.
...
Nerei had a father. A pretty damn good one at that; so he knew what a father was supposed to do and what they shouldn't do.
Sakura's father was the epitome of what a father shouldn't be. As a matter of fact, the only way this man was Sakura's father was the fact that they shared the same blood, which honestly seems like Mr. Sakura's worst nightmare.
The worst part about all of this was that he couldn't do a single damn thing about it. Sakura was someone he looked up to—more than anything–but he couldn't even stop this maniac who called himself a father. It sucked. It sucked like hell.
The strongest person he knew, mentally and physically was now terrified of a single man–and for good reasons: he stood tall and acted as if they were all vermin below him, that he was better than them like he owned the place. His gaze was sharp enough to kill someone. His scowl was indeed similar to Sakura's when he first arrived at Makochi, except he didn't look like a cute stray cat he looked sour and stern and flinty—the complete opposite of the people in Makochi.
Everyone on the roof was pissed, scared and worried for Sakura more or less. Nerei and Suo particularly. They really–and when I say really I mean they really really wanted to smash Waru's face in, they couldn't.
''There's no need to stay any longer. Come. We're leaving.'', his father ordered. ''And get rid of this filthy jacket. It's revolting.''
Umemiya's fists clenched so hard he felt as if his palms were going to bleed any second. He gathered himself together and placed a firm hand on the man's shoulder.
''I'm not letting you take one of my little brothers. Especially not after you spoke to him like that.'', he seethed.
''You stupid boys. You really think you have a chance against someone like me? You're the epitome of stupid. Hey wait, aren't you supposed to be the leader of these hooligans? You're terrible at your job. Just look at your facilities. You don't even have teachers at this school for heavans sake!'', Waru scoffed.
If Sugishita was here, this man would've been dead a long time ago.
''Excuse me?'', Tsubaki finally spoke up after listening to such utter bullshit. ''Who the hell gave you the authority to speak to Umemiya and Sakura like that?'' His voice was calm but he was fuming. Was Suo rubbing off of him?
''And you. You're just disgusting. Are you a man or a woman. Pick. One. You might be as much as a freak as he is. Femboy.''
Tsubaki stepped forward, heels thudding as he took a step. He grabbed the man by the shoulders, looking him dead in eyes.
Sakura watched in horror as Tsubaki bashed his and Waru's heads together with full force.
The man stepped back holding his forehead in pain, his eyebrows furrowed in irritation.
''People like you are never creative about their insults!'', Tsubaki yelled. Tsubaki was thoroughly pissed.
''You had the audacity to come here in the first place, act like an asshole to Sakura and Ume. Then, you cuss me out because of my looks? I think you need to update your brain because looks. Don't. Matter. And people are allowed to dress however they'd like. You don't get to tell them what to do.''
Sakura wanted to say something—he really did but in the past he'd be beaten black and blue for it.
But this wasn't the past. He had a voice. He had friends, people willing to back him up. So maybe, just this once, he would defy his father's word and fight back.
Waru stepped forward and grabbed the collar of Tsubaki's shirt and got all up in his face before opening his mouth to lash out at them but Sakura stopped him.
''Stop it.'', he whispered. ''Now. Let him go.'', he grabbed the hand that grasped Tsubaki's shirt.
''Excuse me, runt?'', the man turned to glare at his son in disgust.
''Let him go. Let Tsubaki go.'', he mumbled, tightening his grip on his arm.
Tusbaki's eyes softened as Sakura defended him as he was the only that could actually hear what he was saying. But the look in his eyes made him worry even more. They were scared but determined, angry but protective. For him.
Everyone was utterly pissed on that rooftop some more than others. The top 2 though, were Sakura and Waru.
''Well, you heard the man, sir. Let him go.'', Suo stepped forward, putting one hand on Sakura's shoulder and the other on his father's shoulder.
The man looked up to see the murderous glares he was receiving from the small group–even Nerei!
He scoffed and averted his gaze from Tsubaki and back to his son. ''Fine. If you want me to leave I would be more than happy to. I don't wish to stay here in this disgraceful place any longer. But if you think that I will leave without giving you a present well...''
Waru slowly took his hand from Tsubaki's shirt and—
SLAP!
Sakura hit the floor with a loud grunt. As the taller man expected, they all flocked to his side as they overwhelmed him with questions. That was his to time to escape. Did he think he was being a coward? Yes. Was he going to be beaten up by bulked up teenagers if he didn't? Yes.
When the two toned boy got his shit together (his words not mine I swear) they had realized Waru had fled.
''What a @#&",#[!(!;<$*$[$,<@]÷]>@;$]!;# and a ](#@[;$@*,@[[$&[ !!!'', Nerei cursed rather loudly.
''I must agree with Nerei here. I'm surprised how you dealt with him for years, Sakura.'', Suo commented.
''Oh, Sakura!!", Tsubaki lunged at him, encasing the younger boy in a tight bear hug. ''You protected me even though you were scared too. Thank you. Seriously, Sakura.''
''Well done, Sakura. You did well. If he comes back call us alright? What was said to you and happened is not your fault. You deserve better.'', Umemiya put his hand on where Sakura was slapped gently. ''We will give you better. I promise.''
''If he does I swear on my life I will—''
''OK, Nerei. That's enough. I think you're gonna pop a blood vessel if you keep at it. Calm down.'', Hiragi sighed, taking more pills.
''I'm sorry.'',Sakura whispered softly. ''And thank you.''
Nobody heard him but they didn't need to because they could tell by the way he let them hug him and be so touchy with him.
As for Waru well, being the basterd he is, never showed his face in Makochi again. Nobody was gonna miss him anyway.
But for now, Haruka Sakura's real family was here in Makochi, forever and always.
