Chapter Text

It was 6th hour. It just so happened to be one of the many, many classes Ivan and Till had together. It was Algebra 2, and they had a test today. Trying to please his mother and father, Till had been studying relentlessly and was nervous the entire test, fidgeting in his seat and destroying the tips of his fingers with forceful nibbles. Till was nearing the end of the test, and was stuck on a question he could have sworn he knew the formula to, when a loud cough suddenly disrupted his thoughts.

Till looked behind him to see Ivan covering his mouth, trying to hold in another cough that was in the back of his throat. He looks awfully pale... Till pondered, turning back around. Ivan quietly pardoned himself, and everyone got back to their tests.

Come to think of it, Ivan had been acting awfully strange today. At lunch, while sitting next to Mizi, Ivan mentioned something about Sua having long hair and Mizi being the short-haired one. He also looked quite dazed. Maybe he's sick... Till felt bad for him; he must be struggling on this test.

Another cough interrupts the focus in the room. Their teacher bellows to the back of the room, "If you need water, take a step into the hall, and keep quiet, please!" Ivan raises his hand. "Yes, Ivan?" Their teacher shouted with furrowed brows. "I think I'm sick."

So I was right! ... That's not really a good thing. Till is distracted by their teacher's absurdly loud sigh, and he glances at his desk. "Alright, Till, can you help Ivan get to the nurse's office? We don't need him throwing up in the middle of the hallway." Till pauses for a quick second, Why me? He wonders. Then the realization hits him. It's my week for nurse help. He tries holding in his frown,

"Alright, sure."

"That's sure, sir, to you, kid." Their teacher crowed. Till hides his scowl until he and Ivan are in the hallway.

"God, I hate our algebra teacher, he's so full of himself!" Till whined, putting a long arm over Ivan's shoulders. Even in Ivan's weary state, he realized the score of feeling Till so close to him and tried to keep calm.

"I know, right? And... Uh... Sorry, I guess for making you take me. I just feel really off today, and, like, nothing's making sense today." Till suddenly, 'gently' slaps a cold hand to Ivan's forehead. "Heyyy, what was that forr?"

"You have a fever, dumbass."

"Aww, seriously? I don't wanna survive the rest of the school dayyy."

Till groaned at Ivan's whining, trying to hide the pity he actually felt for Ivan. "Well, we are at the nurses' office, aren't we? I suppose you can call home there." There's a pause in their conversation, but not for long, until Till gets curious.

"How did you get sick, anyway?"

"I don't knowww, it just feels like hell," Ivan muttered, bringing up a hand to his aching forehead. "Just be nice to me, please?"

"Fine." Till yipped.

Ivan was lying. He knew exactly how he got sick. Till, being in the theatre department, had a show going on the weekend before. He wasn't a lead but still had an important role, and Ivan was determined to see it. He had to run through the wet, stormy, and cold streets of their city to make it in time. Despite being soaked and forgetting an umbrella, a coat, and anything to help keep him dry and warm, he needed to see the show. And he did. Hence, the fever. But he'd never admit that.

"I hope we can call home, my parents might be at work." A sigh exudes from both of them, and they dejectedly continue their walk to the nurse's office. They arrive in front of the door and read the sign.

On Lunch! Come Back Soon!

"Seriously??" Till groaned. "Well, I still have the key, y'know, nurse's help and all." Till slides off the bag hanging from his shoulder, and digs through until he finds it. "Hah! Found it!" He holds it up to the door and struggles, eventually getting it open. "You first, he gestures for Ivan to open the door.

"Seriously? You can't even open it for me?" Ivan whines, turning the handle and attempting to push the door open. He fails, purposefully. "I feel too weak, can you please open it for meeee?"

Till lightly pushes him and opens the door, pointing to a bed aside the opening and tells Ivan to sit while he gets a warm towel and maybe some tea if there is any. Ivan lies down on the bed. Man, I'm so happy Till is taking care of me. A subtle grin occupies his face, and as the comfort from the clutter of Till chaotically searching for something to help, he drifts into sleep.

Till comes back to see him napping, and places the warm towel on his head. God, I can't believe I have to do this. He sighs, taking another look at Ivan. But I think it's worth it for him. His gaze shifts to his chest, watching the slow and comforting rise and fall. Till watches for a while, waiting for Ivan to wake up. He hopes Ivan is enjoying his well-earned rest.
