The air was colder. Halloween was three days away. Kate was planning on handing out candy dressed in her Hawkeye outfit. Yelena on the other hand didn’t want to do anything but help carve pumpkins and watch horror movies.
“Kate Bishop?” Yelena asks as Kate turns around to face Yelena.
“Yes Yelena?” Kate replies, smiling like a child in a candy store.
“Why do you hand out candy to little gremlins that are dressed in costumes?” Yelena asks.
“Cause it’s fun and also gives the kids something sweet to eat.” Kate answers as she grabs an Expo marker and draws a funny face on one of the pumpkins that she and Yelena had purchased the day before. The pumpkins were medium sized and were perfect for jack-o-lanterns.
“You’re a strange one Kate Bishop.” Yelena teases, causing Kate’s cheeks to turn a shade of pink.
“Yelena!” Kate exclaims, getting more and more flustered.
“Yes Kate Bishop?” Yelena flirts with a sly smile on her face.
“I am not strange. Come on Lena, didn’t you at least go trick or treating once?” Kate asks. Yelena only got a bag of candy in celebration of Halloween during the Ohio mission since her, Natasha, Melina and Alexei took photos of several different holidays to appear as the perfect American family. Halloween wasn’t really one where they had celebrated. But Yelena remembered getting a bag of her favorite candy as a replacement for trick or treating. M&Ms were her favorite.
Yelena worked on her own pumpkin as she thought back to the Ohio mission. So many memories. Some good. Some bad.
“Kate Bishop?” Yelena asks curiously.
“Yea Lena?” Kate replies as Yelena plants a small kiss on Kate’s cheek.
“Would it be alright if I wore my Widow suit?” Yelena asks as Kate beams with a smile.
“You don’t have to ask me if its okay Lena, do what makes you happy or makes you comfortable.” Kate replies as Yelena beams with happiness. This was going to be one exciting Halloween.
