His fingers moved faster than his mind, and before he even realized what he had done, Erling’s worried voice echoed through the other end of the line.
“Jude? Jude, what happened?”
He had no idea how long his sobs had been filling the silence between them. All he knew was that he needed to hang up as quickly as possible if he wanted to salvage what little self-preservation he had left.
“I-I didn’t… This was a mistake. I’m sorry.”
