One more step. Just one more step and he would be free from this hell --- having been stuck on the Forgotten Shore for the past year of his life. The gateway shimmered in front of him, calling, begging him to take that final step and enter its sweet embrace, finding solace in the freedom it promised. So why did his heart feel so heavy? He deserved this! He fought for this! He was the last one standing! Not Harus, not Gunlaug, not Caster, not even Changing Star, it was HIM! And all it took was one final step.
But... if he left, then Nephis would be left behind. Left behind to face the horrors of the Dream Realm alone. He couldn't leave her to die. Not even that, he didn't want to leave her. With his mind set, he shifted to turn around and leave the gate, but before he could, a panicked voice rang out behind him.
