"Fire Spirit!! Good to see you!"
It was a breezy afternoon, and Fire Spirit had just walked into a small cafe shop on a street corner.
He grinned and shot a wink at Cocoa, currently working behind the counter. He was there to pick up his weekly order. "The usual, please."
"Right on," Cocoa began to pour aromatic tea leaves into a teapot.
"I have to keep telling you that you make the best coffees and teas out of any cafe in town."
"Aww! well, I'm flattered," Cocoa beamed. "I do it for the passion of the craft and customers like you."
Fire Spirit went and sat at a nearby table. "Well, I'll certainly continue to support if it means that I can keep dirnking that banger mocha of yours."
The two chatted politely while Cocoa whisked chocolate syrup into freshly brewed coffee.
Meanwhile, a large breeze had picked up outside.
And it got stronger and stronger.
"Here's your usual." Cocoa handed over two piping hot cups, one filled with creamy coffee and one filled with green tea, drizzled with honey.
Fire Spirit took a sip of the coffee and licked his lips. "That's the stuff. Thanks so much."
He tossed a 20$ bill on the counter. "Keep the change."
Cocoa smiled as she cashed it into the register. "Have a great day! And it looks like the wind is picking up, better get home before it rains!"
Fire Spirit shot her a grin before opening the door of the cafe and walking out the door.
The walk would take less than 10 minutes. What could possibly go wrong?
Fire Spirit was just about to turn a corner when—
Drip. Drip.
Droplets of rain fell onto his nose and hair, sizzling as the water immeditatly evaporated.
"Shit." Fire Spirit didnt have an umbrella or any sort of coat to cover himself as he walked home. If he took a risk and ran for it, he wasn't even sure if he would survive.
Fire Spirit quickly ran under the awning of a random building. He tried the door but it was locked.
He figured he could wait the rain out. He wasn't worried about the drinks getting cold.
"If only I actually took my phone…"" he muttered under his breath.
The rain quickly grew heavy. Sheets poured from the sky and pounded on the awning. the ground was slowly getting wetter and wetter.
Fire Spirit didnt know how long it had been, when suddenly—
"FIRE SPIRIT!!" a voice shouted.
He turned to see a green figure run toward him, a long trench coat and the end of a green scarf billowing behind him as he ran.
he backed away, but the other only picked up speed, colliding with him and almost knocking him over.
"…Windy??" Fire Spirit stared at the out of breath man before him.
"Oh my god, check the weather before you leave!" Wind Archer shouted. "And you seriously forgot to take your damn phone? I thought you got extinguished when you weren't answering, and then I heard it ringing from the kitchen—"
He sighed. "Dammit, Fire. Look out for yourself before you get hurt."
Fire Spirit couldn't help but chuckle at Wind archer's rambling. he wouldn't admit it out loud in a million years, but it was the most precious thing to witness someone care this much about him.
"What the hell are you laughing at?" Wind Archer muttered, while he fussed over Fire Spirit's hair and face, checking to make sure no drop of rain touched him.
"Relax, Windy. I've been camping out here since the rain started up. I'm not hurt anywhere."
Wind Archer took off his long trench coat and tossed it over Fire spirit's shoulders. He threw the hood onto his head, protecting his flaming hair.
He then noticed the two cups.
"You still got the drinks…" a ghost of a smile sppeared on his lips as Fire Spirit handed him the green tea.
"I'm a living oven. Don't worry about me," he grinned. "And I kept 'em nice and toasty."
Wind Archer sighed again, but this time Fire Spirit could hear the relief.
"Okay, let's go home."
He propped open an umbrella he had been holding, and the two stepped under it.
As they walked, the heavy sheets died down to once again, gentle droplets hitting the umbrella with chaotic rhythms.
"Y'know, you could've just waited for me until the rain stopped," Fire Spirit said. "I'll be fine!"
"One, the rain doesn't stop until tonight. Two, I'm not letting you get extinguished before I get my tea."
"Oh, boo-hoo. I'm so sad to hear you care more about green tea than the Eternal Flame himself." Fire spirit said in a sarcastic crying tone, pretending to fall into wind archer's arms. "Am I really not worth as much as leaf juice?"
"Green tea is delicious. And it has caffeine. And don't you dare call it leaf juice."
Wind Archer playfully shoved Fire Spirit off of himself.
Fire Spirit leaned back in and planted a kiss on Wind Archer's lips. "Am I not just as delicious though?" he laughed.
Wind Archer's face flushed as he turned away and took a large sip of his tea.
"…I'll get back to you on that," he muttered.
The pair walked back home, under the safety of the umbrella, sipping tea and coffee repectively.
I'm so lucky to have him, Fire Spirit thought as he looked at Wind Archer, his expression as soft as the gentle rain pouring down around them.
I want to be with him forever.
