Summary:

“We’re getting married, Kim Dokja,” Yoo Joonghyuk rumbles. His arm somehow tightens even further around Kim Dokja, his lips mouthing against Kim Dokja’s ear, before nibbling against the flesh.

“Uh,” Kim Dokja chokes out.

Yoo Joonghyuk pointedly ignores him, moving to nuzzle near his nape. He brushes right against Kim Dokja’s scent gland, nearly enough to make Kim Dokja yelp and jump upwards. “I’ll buy the wedding rings. You—pick out the venue. Seolhwa can help us choose.”

What the fuck.

“Uh,” Kim Dokja manages, again.

“And. The pregnancy test. You need to take one.” His hand shifts to Kim Dokja’s bare stomach, and Kim Dokja shakes a little. It’s ticklish. “We need to make sure that you’re healthy. If our baby is in here.”

Uh…?”

Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk get married, fall into bed, and have a child. Not necessarily in that order.

Work Text:

After a one night stand, after Yoo Joonghyuk’s rut coincided with Kim Dokja’s heat, Kim Dokja wakes up in the morning fearing for the absolute worst.

How could he not fear for his life?

He’d just slept with his best friend. Well… the title of ‘best friend’ is questionable—Kim Dokja doesn’t know what their relationship is exactly, but he can at least say that they’ve been… good friends for five years.

They’ve gone through university together, they’ve dealt with Han Sooyoung’s shenanigans, and they’ve basically spent half of their entire lives together, or, at least, it’s felt like it. Kim Dokja’s even given Yoo Joonghyuk relationship advice, for god’s sake. That was, of course, before Yoo Joonghyuk and Lee Seolhwa both compromised themselves, seeing their relationship better fit as platonic than romantic.

After that entire debacle… Kim Dokja has entertained the idea of being with Yoo Joonghyuk a couple of times, but… Damn. That bastard likely didn’t see him the same way. Wouldn’t see him that way, even if he’d slowly warmed up to Kim Dokja over time. It was a given, as Yoo Joonghyuk was and will continue to be miles out of Kim Dokja’s league for the rest of his damn life.

A dominant alpha. A handsome dominant alpha. A brooding, handsome dominant alpha. One with plenty of wealth.

Weren’t those all of the traits required to be an ideal male lead for those shitty romance web novels?

And if Yoo Joonghyuk were an ideal male lead, then Kim Dokja would be some background side character.

No. Few wrote stories about a dominant alpha and a recessive omega getting together. The mainstream tastes were catered towards a perfect couple, one bound by fate, one meant to be together in every universe.

The most Kim Dokja could be to Yoo Joonghyuk was a friend. So…

Waking up to this damn sight was worse than a nightmare.

Skin-to-skin, completely naked, surrounded thick by Yoo Joonghyuk’s scent, Kim Dokja can only laugh hollowly. Yoo Joonghyuk’s arm latches against Kim Dokja’s waist, preventing him from going anywhere, pulling tight, as if afraid to let Kim Dokja go.

It ruins all of Kim Dokja’s plans of escape—of leaving for a couple of days so that Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t murder him immediately, before coming back as if nothing had happened. But still, it doesn’t mean he can’t try, no?

So he thrashes, much more than necessary, trying to escape Yoo Joonghyuk’s grip, cursing all the way.

Damn. This bastard really is too strong for his own good, isn’t he?

All his thrashing seems to do, though, is make Yoo Joonghyuk’s arm tighten further around him, nearly suffocating him. The urge to vomit is quelled by Yoo Joonghyuk’s scent, but, of course, that only makes him feel worse.

Kim Dokja really is terrible. If he’d only kept better track of his heat, if he’d stayed away from Yoo Joonghyuk for the time being, if only he’d…

There’s too much to regret, and not enough chances to fix his mistakes. Thus, the only option is to run away, no?

And so, even if Yoo Joonghyuk’s arm latches harder around him the more he struggles, and even if Kim Dokja’s body feels like absolute shit, he has to get out of here. This bastard… This pissy, ill-tempered, handsome bastard is really going to skin him alive.

One more movement, and Yoo Joonghyuk shifts again. But there’s something different about this one, in the scent that pervades the air, and in the hitch of breath that sounds from right behind him.

“Stop moving,” Yoo Joonghyuk grumbles.

Shit. The bastard woke up.

Kim Dokja really does stop moving, if only to assess the life choices that have led him to this situation as of present.

Okay. So he fucked up severely, and the person who he’s wronged is clinging onto him like a leech, preventing him from running away from his issues.

He sighs, and before he knows it, he says something.

“Let’s forget about this, Joonghyuk. It was a one-time mistake.”

His voice is stable when he says it. Check. His tone is final. Check. He doesn’t sound like he just had the best night of his life, and is regretting the fact that he’ll be unable to repeat it. Check. His heart hasn’t shattered on the floor yet. Check.

It’s all fine and dandy, isn’t it? He can go back to being friends with Yoo Joonghyuk, and the relationship that will have never blossomed to fruition will die, nipped in the bud. Kim Dokja’s feelings might remain, but he’s not delusional. He’s known that Yoo Joonghyuk isn’t the type to be into him anyway—would probably be into dainty, fragile omega beauties, unlike a recessive omega like him.

But… what comes out of Yoo Joonghyuk’s mouth exceeds even the most outlandish possibilities he had in mind.

Uh…?”

“I’ll grab one—from the pharmacy.” Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand finally releases from his stomach, finally not pinning him down to the bed anymore. If Kim Dokja isn’t mistaken, there’s almost a sad note in Yoo Joonghyuk’s scent that slips out, as he finally gets out of the bed, gazing at Kim Dokja’s face with an almost forlorn expression, before getting dressed in record time. It’s almost like he’s speedrunning something. His hair is still messy, an evident bedhead, but it looks intentional on him, with his handsome face and his wrinkled clothes.

“Don’t move. Stay here, Kim Dokja. Or else…” Yoo Joonghyuk’s glare alone would be enough to kill anyone he’d stared at. “Or else, I’ll come find you.”

Yoo Joonghyuk gives him one last knowing glance, before slamming the door shut, heading right to the pharmacy next door.

“Uh…?”

What the hell just happened?

So. They ended up getting married.

When handing out the wedding invitations to everyone he’d known, Kim Dokja had realized he might’ve been a little stupid, in retrospect. The reactions he’d gotten had been… a little annoying, to say the least.

“Knew it,” Han Sooyoung had said. “You guys—did you think you were being subtle?”

“Congratulations, Dokja-ssi,” came from Yoo Sangah. “You two have always suited each other.”

“I thought you hated that sooty bastard!” Lee Gilyoung protested, affirmed by Shin Yoosung.

And… “Take good care of my oppa,” was Yoo Mia’s warning, accompanied by the Yoo signature glare.

It was a strange thing, knowing that everyone had known before he did, knowing that Yoo Joonghyuk had been much, much more obvious than Kim Dokja was. It was strange that Kim Dokja was so blind, thinking that Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t have had feelings for him—when his damn behavior screamed that of a dog who’d grown too attached to his owner.

Kim Dokja realized that… he might be a little more dumb than he thought he had been.

Oh. And, he was pregnant. So it was good that that bastard was proactive as usual.

It’s strange, living with Yoo Joonghyuk, living through the picture-perfect domestic life, being fed three delicious meals a day, that would likely cost hundreds of dollars from a high-end restaurant, cooked right in his home by a handsome chef.

It’s strange, having Yoo Joonghyuk cater to him more than usual, having his attention be focused on Yoo Joonghyuk all the time—and vice-versa. It’s really strange, strange to wake up to meals he hasn’t cooked, and strange to wake up in Yoo Joonghyuk’s arms sometimes, feeling the warmth of his face nuzzling into his nape, his hair tickling against his neck, his scent surrounding Kim Dokja, a veritable blanket placed on his body.

It’s safe to say that Kim Dokja has never been pampered this much before in his entire life. And for good reason, perhaps.

His body has only been rejecting things more and more often, to the point where Yoo Joonghyuk has grown uneasy.

Vomiting at strange times of the day. Chills. Aches in places he’s never felt sore before.

It’s inconvenient, really, but nothing more. Yoo Joonghyuk, though, treats it like he’s been afflicted with a terminal illness, though.

“Tell me,” Yoo Joonghyuk warned, “whenever you feel uncomfortable.”

It’s a warning, in that Yoo Joonghyuk would likely hound him for the next year about it, nagging his damn ear off if he hides his damn status from Yoo Joonghyuk. And, as Kim Dokja has learned from living with Yoo Joonghyuk, having his ear nagged off is not a pleasant thing.

So when it happens again, a strange fluttering in his stomach while he’s relaxing on the couch, waiting for Yoo Joonghyuk to finish cooking up lunch, he calls out.

“Um,” Kim Dokja mumbles. “Joonghyuk-ah… There’s something, uh.”

It happens again. The fluttering, the sensation, weird as hell, running through him. Right in his stomach, kicking and kicking, as if wishing to make its presence known.

Shit. This feeling… Is this the imminent sensation of diarrhea?

Yoo Joonghyuk rushes over. His brow is furrowed, enough to show his concern, that signature frown donning his face. “Where does it hurt?”

Kim Dokja hesitantly rubs his hand against his stomach, the bump slightly visible. Yoo Joonghyuk’s hand slips over his, dwarfing it. The warmth surrounds him, the weird feeling almost dulled right from having Yoo Joonghyuk in his vicinity. But soon enough, it happens again, and Yoo Joonghyuk’s breath hitches.

“The baby,” Yoo Joonghyuk says, a tone of awe evident in his voice, “she’s… kicking.”

“She is…?”

“She is,” Yoo Joonghyuk affirms. His hand rubs against Kim Dokja’s stomach, a soothing motion.

Kim Dokja looks up, and sees the brightest smile he’s ever seen from this guy. Meeting his gaze, Yoo Joonghyuk blinks, before leaning down to kiss him.
