I let out a pained yelp. My vision is swarming with dark spots. An explosion happens beside me as I lay on the ground. My hands slipped away from the cauldron. The pain in my body shoots up to my head. A sharp pain forms at the top of my head, as if someone had stabbed me there and now twisting the sword. I opened my mouth for a scream but all I managed was to part my lips. Burn, my throat burns. My airway clenches, like it's tied up with a rope. My bones in my fingers crack… one by one. A stream of blood ran down my face.
A strange power courses through my veins. All I can feel is pain. I lie there silently, waiting for this to end…or maybe, this is what death feels like.
