Echo's origin

Summary:

Just a fun little headcannon for echo.

Work Text:

In the beginning everything was silent. The world may have been a bit strange for a robloxian. To see everything to be so similar yet so different. A direct reflection of reality with one key difference, there was no life here.

There were no birds in the air or fish in the sea. Nor were there people in cities or animals roaming the earth. They simply weren't in this dimension.

But there were a small group of creatures that were. They had no name but they followed the rules reflective nature of this dimension as well.

They were translucent creatures and vaguely taking the form of a robloxian, kind of like ghosts really. They came in various colors like orange, yellow, and purple.

They didn't really communicate in the traditional sense just more through vibes and feelings. You think that would have proved an obstacle but it worked for them.

But one day something happened. A mysterious corrupting force started to emerge in that dimension. Some of the more naturally curious creatures went to approach this mysterious force. But it was a mistake they never came back.

This change was a bit too much for some of the reflective creatures to handle. they lost hope. their colors dimmed and they became shadows of their former selves. These… shades they didn't communicate at least not in the same way they could before. They were more like spirits wondering around aimlessly.

They weren't immune to the corruption like you would think, which is why they tended to hang out in places where there's no corruption.

Strangely enough there was one reflective creature that was born after the corruption emerged. They didn't know a time before the corruption existed as far as they knew this was all normal.

They tried their best to cheer up the rest of the reflective creatures who seem to be gradually losing hope one by one. But it didn't seem to help much.

No matter what that silly light blue creature did nothing ever helped. And gradually all its other companions turn to shades.

The light blue creature was baffled why was everyone so afraid of and dispirited by this mysterious corrupting force, like sure it's bad but it's not exactly hard to avoid either.

After all it's companions had shaded, The light blue creature decided to explore this funny reflective world it was in.

The light bright translucent creature didn't know this yet but the world this creature was in was a direct reflection of the living world. That meant things that happened in the living world had appeared with seemingly no reason in the reflective world.

Buildings in cities were constructed by nothing at all really. The only thing this world didn't reflect were all the living things. Perhaps that's the original role of these funny reflective creatures.

Maybe in another world where they could have somehow seen all the living creatures, they could have had a role model to reflect off of. But let's not talk about hypotheticals here.

This blue nameless creature had wandered the world multiple times easily avoiding the corrupting force. It had seen what the corruption had done in its wake. Thankfully this world was resilient in a way and would always manage to restore itself after the corruption had left for a certain amount of time.

Things were in this odd balance for a while, where the corruption would destroy something and the mirror world would fix it so on and so forth.

But something had changed one day, a living person had appeared. It was a small change but it just so everly tipped that delicate balance in the corruption’s favor.

The mirror world was never meant for living beings. And that small amount of chaos cause a ripple effect that couldn't be undone.

You could say the meeting of this young doctor and this translucent creature was the beginning of the end.
