It was after a mission, during a meeting when Obi-Wan made Anakin stay a bit longer than the others.
The mission had gone well. They had successfully saved the civillians that the Droids had held as prisoners, yet Anakin had disobeyed Obi-Wans direct orders, changing the plan, risking everything.
"Anakin, would you stay for a second?" Obi-Wan asked as the young Knight turned to leave.
Anakin sighed but turned around again. "What is it, Obi-Wan?"
"You disobeyed my orders. You weren't were you supposed to be."
"Were fine now aren't we?" Anakin said back annoyed. Obi-Wan scoffed. "Fine now? Anakin.. do you even hear yourself? You could've died. Your troops... Ahsoka... could've died. The civillians could've died. Because you did not follow my orders. You said you'd be there. You lied to me."
"At least now you know how it feels." Anakin bit back. Something in Obi-Wans eyes shifted. Now he knew what this was about.
"Thats...thats the reason? Here? You... you disobeyed my orders.. because of that Rako Hardeen thing, are you fucking kidding me?" Obi-Wan said, his eyes wide.
"You... risked all of those people...to–" Obi-Wan stopped shortly, trying to gather himself. "Anakin.. you almost killed innocents to...make me pay?" He gasped out, not believing what he was hearing.
Anakin rolled his eyes. "They're fine now aren't they? Don't be so dramatic.."
"Dramatic? What is wrong with you?" Obi-Wan said loudly, near the tears.
Anakin flinched. "Master...my plan worked didn't it...it worked and the civillians are fine—"
"Well what if your plan had failed? What then Anakin? What if they had died? All 236 of them? What then?" Obi-Wan now shouted, taking a step forwards, now close to Anakin.
"Their deaths.. would have been your fault. Their blood would be on your hands. Anakin...i...i...get what i did was horrible and...i know i should've told you but risking those people...to rebel against my orders, to show your resentment towards me..."
Obi-Wan stopped, gasping, tears now falling. "Thats disgusting. And you should be ashamed."
Anakin had stopped breathing. Seeing his Master so mad, so broken... he didn't think of it that way. He was just trying to show that he was still mad at Obi-Wan.
"Master...i-" He tried to say.
"No."
Anakin stopped, looking down, not being able to look into his Masters eyes, who were full of shook and disgust.
"I will not inform the council of this but...i will tell them that you cannot work with me right now. Troops of mine will personally escort you and Ahsoka to a ship and i will contiune to lead the 501st. You both will stay at the temple and i will ask the council to not send us on a mission together again, until you manage to tune down your anger towards me...at least for missions." Obi-Wan said in a cold voice.
"You can't lead them alone, Obi-Wan. You need me and—"
"I do not need someone who would risk the life of innocents to make a point. I will call for backup. I am certain there will be a capable Jedi who can help me lead your troops. If not... it would still be safer with me leading them alone than leading them with you." Was the answer he got back.
"Leave, now. In two hours four of my men will pick you and Ahsoka up, to ensure you will get on the ship safely. And if you're not on the ship or they tell me you were not in your Quarters... i will personally hunt you down and have you put in lockdown until we get back to the temple where i will then tell the Council everything that happened. Have i made myself clear?"
Anakin could only nod and left. The door opened and Commander Cody walked in, looking after Skywalker. "Sir.. the troops have, Sir?"
Obi-Wan had one hand on the table, the other one was over his mouth, trembling. He was breathing heavily, tears falling down his face as he tried to muffle his crying. His knees buckled and Cody barely managed to catch him.
"Cody...what have i done wrong? Have i failed my own Padawan so much?" Obi-Wan said in-between sobs.
The Commander shook his head, holding the crying Jedi Master close to his chest. "No, no, you haven't failed him, Obi-Wan. His actions are not your fault."
"He could've killed those people, Cody. Because i betrayed him, because i used him! What kind of person does that?" The Stewjoni said, disgust in his voice, mostly at himself.
"You made a mistake, Obi-Wan. But you did it for the Republic, for the Chancellor. You told me that one of the reasons you agreed was because you knew Anakin and him were close. Isn't that something?" Cody tried to comfort him.
Sure at first he had been angry too. But all the anger had vanished as soon as he had laid eyes onto Obi-Wan again. It has disappeared into thin air as soon as he saw his General again all those months ago. Alive.
It was weird at first. He had never seen Obi-Wan without any hair, but that had grown back by now. It had taken a while, but it had come back. And yet, after all these months, Skywalker was still mad at his Master.
Obi-Wan pushed himself away, the touch being too much for him right now as he tried to regain his posture. Not very Jedi of him to break down like that.
"Thank you, Cody. I'm sorry that you had to see me like that..." He said, clearing his throat, wiping away the remaining tears.
Cody just shock his head, cupping his lovers face. "You have nothing to be sorry for. You were the one that told us in the first place that having emotions was the most natural thing in the Galaxy, so don't you dare to apologize for having them too."
The Jedi Master just chuckled, laying a hand over Cody's.
"Tell four of your men to pick up Anakin and Ahsoka in two hours. They will be escorted back to the temple."
Cody nodded, letting go of Obi-Wan's face. He smiled. "You still coming tonight? The boys asked if they could play 'Shot the General' again."
Obi-Wan scoffed. "Their egos are still hurt after they didn't manage to hit me last time, right?"
Cody nodded and Obi-Wan laughed slightly. Yes. A distraction was really what he needed right now.
