Chapter Text

Moving In Place - Shuana Dean Cokeland

Brew never thought this day could come. Or, well, he should have seen it coming. In all of his years of editing and creating content quietly with his boys, he'd lost track of time.

Chill and Grill really haven't been together for *years* already, right?

Yes, they have. And before he could process THAT by itself, the two decided they were getting married. Married. What?

He shook the disheveled mess of sand colored hair atop his head, waking himself up to the announcement. He sat stiffly on the couch apon getting pulled out of his room for a sudden-

"suprise!" Chill beamed, standing next to an equally happy but more reserved Grill. "We've been meaning to tell you for a few months, Brew. I swear!" Chill spoke again, in his high, soft voice. "But Grill said-"

"I," Grill cut in. "Thought we should tell you when things calmed down a bit. It'd be hell on earth tryna plan this thing while you're buried in all that work!" He concluded, putting his hands on his hips. The two of them were already fully dressed..were they going out? Gosh, he'd barely done more today then grab a cup of coffee and head back to his room to edit. He'd really been letting time pass by, huh? He thought to himself.

Okay, nevermind. There were definitely more pressing matters to attend to. Brew finally stopped staring blankly up at them and his face changed to one of suprise, his hand brushing his hair back as he stood from the couch. "Boys, really? Thats-thats wow!" Brew let out a breathless laugh, capturing them both into a warm embrace. "Am, I uh, am I the first person you're telling this to?" He wondered as he pulled himself away just as quick, only to look between both of them.

"Yeah, o'course you'd be, Brew. You live here too, y'know. It's not like we'd go tell Howard that before you." Grill huffed, earing a sheepish look away from Brew, who quickly masked it by clearing his throat gently into his fist.

"I already heard weeks in advance." Howard cut in unhelpfuly. Brew ignored him, speaking again.

"Okay, you have a point. But that doesn't matter right now. Do you have anything already planned in advance? Like uh..a venue, maybe? Or guests?"

"*relax*" Grill huffed at the older man. "You really think we'd have have this whole thing planned out If we *just* told our first person about it?"

A pause.

"and anyway, forgettin' that," Grill interrupted his own words, waving a dismissive hand to Brew. "Me and Chill are going to some fancy restaurant outa town to celebrate." "

Chill nodded, smiling between Brew and his new to-be-husband. "Yeah! We're.. we're gonna have dinner, and desert. And oh, we'll bring you home something too, if you want! He spoke, obviously cheerful about this.

"Well.." Brew thought to himself for a moment. "Have fun, boys. And congrats, really. Stay safe." He told them, even if Hillmark was much too small for trouble to happen anyway.

Okay. Yeah. They were waiting to plan. He'd have time. Yes, Brew supposed that made it better. But any reassurances were crushed by immediate anxiety when only a week later, the planning had already begun. The boys were impatient, he could give them that. . And Brew was not at all ready to keep up.

Eventually, the two (mostly Chill) informed everyone on the hill about this new advancement in their relationship. And it's all anyone on the hill spoke about for almost two weeks straight. Which was a given, as Hillmark was incredibly bleak at times. Especially when most had graduated from rhe academy and were now taking more breaks on vidoes. But the excitement was definitely understandable. Quiz was already planning in advance, Jack sent the boys wedding cards, the Mad Lads were for some reason making a big deal out of it themselves (despite disliking the couple) and everyone else was either just as excited or simply supportive.

The one person who was more just 'supportive' than anything, unsurprisingly but gratefully to Brew, was Spill. It's not like she wasn't excited. She loved the boys because they meant so much to *him*, even if they irritated her from time to time. But she wasn't exactly a top contributor to the festivities either. She'd decided to help out with the flower arrangements and refreshments, and let the ones closer to the boys do as much as they'd like to in return.

Brew wished he had that option. Since he'd be Grills 'father figure' in this setting, he played some of the most important parts in the wedding. He'd probably have to walk Grill down the aisle, give the two of them the rings at the alter, stand right there as they were unified.. Or well, thats what hed seen at other weddings. Out of everything, they had never been a big interest for him. Maybe just becauee hed never been to many himself, he wasn't sure. as much as he wanted to be excited if he *was* picked for something like that, he was nothing more than filled with dread. Grill..would pick him for that, right? Is that too much to ask of him? Goodness, he needed to breathe. And maybe drink another cup of coffee, too.

At least this was an excuse to get out of the house. . . Right? As embarrassing as it was, he'd been needing to get out and be productive. Not content productive, just the kind where he gets in some much needed social interaction. And it was obvious where he'd go to first.

Not the university, since they'd all long since graduated (though he wished he could go there for some quiet). But to Spills house. She of all people wouldn't mind the state he was in at the moment, so he trusted her to not judge no matter how wrecked he looked. He tried to fix the white collar from under his red sweater as he waited for a respinse to his soft knock on her front door. They were close enough to sleep over, yes. But he still wouldn't invade her privacy. As much as she usually wished he'd just let himself in.

A few moments later, as expected, Spill opened the door to see him, her eyes tracing his slumped figure. Her soft purple hair was put back in a messy bun, her reading glasses perched on her nose. Like him, she luckily wasn't dressed up much either, which made Brew feel better about the lack of effort put into his appearance. A common thing nowadays. She wore a simple white tank top and grey sweatpants, her usualy type of attire when she stayed home and edited her videos.

He gave a slightly sheepish smile, greeting her. "Hey. I uh, probably should've called before I came over. But are you..busy?

She shook her head, seemingly more than fine to see him. "That's okay. Why do you ask? Do you need something?"

"No, no I'm fine. I just wanted to stop by for a bit."

"Oh." She thought out loud, pleased. She hadn't seen him out of the house much these last few months, even before the wedding planning started. She didn't mind seeing him at all. "Yeah, of course. Come in." Holding out the door for him, she lead him towards the couch where she assumed he'd make himself at home. "Do you want any tea? I need a refill anyway."

Brew complied to her silent expectation, taking a seat on her familiar light green couch. "Yes please, I'd like that." Despite not being the biggest fan of tea, he was starting to get over it. Mostly for her. If she could drink black coffee like he did, why couldnt he drink her leaf water? He watched her form as she moved into the kitchen, his eyes staying towards her for a few more seconds before flicking around the warm living room. It was bright with sunlight, so much more natural feeling than the usual lit rooms of his own house. It was always a breath of fresh air coming here, which was exactly what he needed.

It didn't stay silent for long, the faint sound of the side door opening (located in the kitchen) and the sound of tiny pattering across the kitchen floor. Then, an excited Matcha wasted no time greeting him. He let out a pleased laugh as the white Yorkiepoo jumped up onto his lap and barked excitedly at him.

Petting the small dogs soft, curly fur, Brew let out a soft laugh. He let Matcha cuddle up to him for a bit longer, before bending over to set him back down on the wood floor. The man's hair-longer now from lack of grooming-messed up slightly from the movement and he ruffled it like he would've the dogs. He bent back up just as Spill came back into the room, meeting her eyes with a warm smile. Matcha barely let him separate, before already making an attempt to jump back into his lap.

Spill stared as she stood in the doorway, giving a soft laugh at Matcha's excited jumps and tail wags. "He must've missed you?" She leaned on the wood railing. "I missed you."

Notes:

Ignore that I forgot that this means they would have also hid being financees from Brew as well??
