Chapter 1: Desert Snow

Chapter Text

Fluffy powder fell gently through the air. Covering every surface with a thin layer of white. But it wasn't snow, oh no. It was flour.

Waverly and Nicole stood aghast in the cramped kitchen.

"I told you you shouldn't have used the mixer!" Nicole teased.

Waverly pouted before she stepped forward, her bare feet leaving prints in the powder. Brushing a smudge of flour from Nicole's cheek she gave a sappy grin

"I don't know what you're talking about, it's perfect" she mumbled, rocking to her tip toes to place a chaste kiss on Nicole's nose. Nicole arched her brow skeptically.

"Look" Waverly coaxed. Cupping a hand full of flour and tossing it in the air pointedly.

“It's snowing!" She explained cooing with glee, delicate features lifted in childlike delight.

Nicole looked doubtfully over Waverly’s shoulder at the blazing desert sun outside the window. But the look on Waverly’s face erased her doubt, as it shone eagerly up at her she caved, sure it was snow. That gave her an idea and with a quick “Wait here” to Waverly she rushed out of the room.

Waverly scowled sulkily, she hated being left alone, but nevertheless she stayed put, impatiently bouncing on the tiled floor. She startled when the AC sprang to life. The freezing breeze whipping the flour, sending gusts of powder through the air. Just as she was about to investigate Nicole sped back in. Her wild locks of fiery hair hidden under furry winter hat. She brandished another hat before her proudly before carefully setting it over Waverly’s brow.

Waverly arched a brow in surprise “What is this” she asked bewildered.

“It’s snowing, silly” Nicole explained playfully.

“There." She puffed happily slipping mittens into Waverly’s hands.

"Now, lets skate!" She declared, slipping her hands into Waverly's and sliding along the floor in a messy dance. Drawing sweeping lines through the ‘snow'. She twirled Waverly round in circles, her usual prowess lacking as her body shook with rippling giggles.

Breathlessly they drew to a halt, Nicole tilted her head down resting her forehead against Waverly’s letting their hot breath mingle in the cold air. With a mischievous grin she reached behind her and flicked the mixer back on.

“Merry Christmas baby” she mumbled as the last of the flour tumbled through the air, and she dipped down to kiss Waverly amongst a flurry of white.
