‘Were we ever properly introduced?’
After a moment, Rouge turned to Shadow. The sun was setting behind the city skyline, drenching his fur in gold. ‘Yes. You just don’t remember.’
There had been no meet-cute for the two of them. She had given him her name on Space Colony Ark, and the rest was history.
‘Do you want a do-over?’ Rouge asked.
He shrugged. ‘…Shadow.’
‘Rouge.’ She laughed and said, ‘Happy now?’
‘I’m happier than I was.’ Shadow smiled faintly. ‘I don’t need to remember how we met to know that my life has been better since I met you.’
