Work Text:
Secret Agent could feel it. He could feel those eye again. Or maybe a gaze was a better way to put it. Regardless he got that feeling he was getting watched again.
He let out a groan, he didn’t feel like turning around, every time he did so he lost 10 sanity to pretty much nothing. But he could sometimes notice something slipped behind the wall…
Secret Agent got an idea.
If it was slipping around the wall, theoretically, that would mean it was hiding just around the corner behind him, so that meant if he could fire with just enough accuracy, he could hit it.
It was an awful idea, if there was nothing there he could hit a civilian or even worse, someone apart of the hospital staff. Or maybe he’d hit Barney, he wouldn’t mind hitting that guy. Or maybe that rat that came around whispering things to the Intern.
Secret Agent pushed those thoughts away, while it had a high chance of backfiring, he also didn’t hear anyone walking behind him, plus he didn’t know how long it would stay there for, for all he knew the longer he spent thinking, the more suspicious it got.
Secret Agent settled on his choice. He would try and kill an anomaly he wasn’t sure even existed.
He took in a deep breath, praying that Dr. Harlow wouldn’t hear this.
As quickly as he could manage, he gripped the handle of his gun, swinging his arm behind him and firing, hoping he aimed this right.
The moment he shot the gun, he regretted it deeply, the shot rang out and made everybody snap their heads towards him.
”What the hell!?l” Secretary shouted from the Check in, Security turning around in his Cameras to stare aswell. But that wasn’t the worst of it.
Within seconds, the halls were filled with fleeing patients who probably thought there was a shooter in the hospital. Secret Agent felt the guilt swell in his chest. But it didn’t compare to the talk Dr. Harlow was going to give him when he realized.
”Shit…” Secret Agent mumbled to himself once he realized everybody had came out to see what that sound was. Head Nurse and Nurse were both glaring at him, while Surgeon just shook his head disappointingly. Intern just seemed confused alongside Paramedic and Psychologist… well they didn’t even show up.
”What the hell was that?” Nurse pointed at Secret Agent’s gun, only now did he realize he was still clutching it. He tried hiding it behind his back but by now it was already to late.
”Why did you do that? I was mid surgery, its a miracle that didn’t throw me off to badly, or they would’ve died!” Surgeon complained, everybody else in the room murmuring in agreement.
”I don’t beed to explain myself to all of you.” Secret Agent tried to play it off, but that just made everyone glare at him harder.
”You don’t get to “mysterious man does mysterious things” your way out of this one. Explain.” Head Nurse spoke in that stern tone, but now it carried some disdain that made Secret Agent wince a bit.
”No, it’s fine, he only needs to explain himself to me.” Dr. Harlow pushed his way through the crowd and stood in front of Secret Agent. He didn’t even seem angry with him.
Secret Agent didn’t know which he would rather deal with, Head Nurse or the devil himself.
“Yes sir…” He mumbled the Sir part especially quietly, Dr. Harlow nodded and started walking towards his office, Secret Agent sighed before following.
But first he took a look behind him and noticed something… there was no bullet hole, his bullet got intercepted. No, his bullet hit something.
Secret Agent smirked to himself, at least it wasn’t for nothing. Although his smile diminished as he saw Head Nurse’s glare again. He sighed and sulked away into Dr. Harlow’s office.
Bonus Paragraphs:
They all stood in silence as Secret Agent slipped into Dr. Harlow’s office.
”Guys, what if instead of Secret Agent having the gun, we confiscated it and let me have it instead?” Intern offered.
”Hell no.” Secretary rolled his eyes.
“Yeah no way.” Head Nurse murmured.
Intern tilted their head like a dog, “you seem sad, you worried about him?”
Head Nurse scoffed, “Worried no, but I guess I pity him a bit.”
She ignored Nurse’s knowing stare, “Shouldn’t everybody go get back to work?”
“Yeah well Secret Agent isn’t here to boss us around anymore, and theres no patients, that gunshot scared alot of people off. So thus is like our free time.” Paramedic laughed.
”I’m still here. Paramedic go clean up any slime you find.”
”What!” Paramedic groaned, “whatever, your no fun… why do I have to do the slime?”
”Just because you find the slime weird looking doesn’t mean you can just skip out on ever cleaning it up.”
”I find it visually disturbing actually, dont dumb down my disgust.” Paramedic scoffed, “I’m not doing it.”
“Are you really going to argue this?” Head Nurse sighed.
”You guys know cleaning it is easier with a fire extinguisher right?” Intern added.
Everybody in the room went dead silent.
”Thats the stupidest shit you have ever said.” Secretary mumbled.
”Dude gave you ever said anything positive in your life.” Intern moaned.
”Nope, don’t intend on doing so either,” Secretary smirked at him.
“Whatever, it’s true, watch this,” Intern ran over and snatched the fire extinguisher before Head Nurse could even protest against it.
“This isn’t going to work…” Head Nurse grumbled.
“Give the poor Intern a chance, who knows maybe it’ll actually work” Nurse shrugged, Head Nurse was appalled by the fact she was even entertaining this.
Intern ran over to the nearest patch of slime and aimed the fire extinguisher at it.
”This is a waste of time, I preferred Paramedic’s free time plan.” Surgeon complained, Intern just rolled their eyes and turned the extinguisher on.
By some miracle, it actually made the slime vanish in seconds. Head Nurse felt her jaw go slack from shock.
”H-How? How did that work?” Head Nurse stammered, Nurse couldn’t even put words together.
Meanwhile Paramedic seemed ecstatic, “that is singlehandedly more helpful than anything psychologist has ever done in this hospital!”
”Who the hell is that.” Intern asked, but suddenly everybody finally seemed to remember something. Psychologist wasn’t even here.
“Where even are they? I haven’t seen them is ages.” Surgeon asked.
”That’s a wonderful question. Where is he?” Security mumbled.
”What do they even do.” Paramedic stated, nobody could really answer that question.
On queue, Psychologist walked into the hospital, carrying a suitcase and that same ugly suit he always wore.
”Oh, perfect timing.” Secretary muttered, but Psychologist just walked past them all.
”Wait, why are you here? You never even come?”
Psychologist turned around, staring at her for a while.
“Dr. Harlow called.”
That was all they said before they walked off into Dr. Harlow’s office.
“…who the hell is that?” Intern asked again.
”Hell if I know.” Nurse shrugged, “I don’t know about yall, but I’m gonna go take a nap before the Patients start pouring in again.”
“Nice plan,” Secretary yawned.
Slowly but surely everyone went to go do their own things. But Head Nurse stood rooted to the same spot, because one thought was replaying in her mind.
What did Dr. Harlow need Psychologist’s help for now of all times.
