Summary:

A crush between fast food workers can be a very sweet thing.

Notes:

so it's probably very obvious that this was originally meant to be the start of a bigger story - something kind of similar to my tay/kruz fic from a while back but I wrote most of this bit a while back and every time I tried to add to it it was just very meh, so have this bit! sorry if it's a little incomprehensible bc I was working off internal knowledge of my unwritten au here lol.

also this was very initially inspired by not only the untapped chemistry of tay and shubble (specifically in purge s1 but also always) but the idea of having kruz and tay work at a kfc (they had a kfc on the server), have ze and chilled work at gamestop (ze built one that last two seconds on the server) and shubble working at subway (they had a s(h)ubway on there too). also had chilled work part time at both gamestop and shubway (for story purposes but also to at least keep some of team sickos together.

oh my god I'm so sorry that's so many words and still probably makes no sense and/or is totally unecessary lol (rambling about purge s1 is impossible for me to resist forever). anyways the title is from little things by big thief.

Work Text:

"I see you left for only ten minutes this time, did you really go and use the GameStop bathroom because usually it takes you longer than that," Kruz says as soon as Tay enters to KFC - not giving her even a second to re-adjust.

"Fuck off," Tay replies, barely glancing at the customers.

"Language! We have customers, and I'm just saying," Kruz grins, giving Tay a shoulder bump as she joins her behind the counter.

"Liar—you were not just saying and it really wasn't too short of a time, I only had to piss and neither Chilled nor Ze were working today so there was no reason to linger."

"Wow, you really had that excuse locked and loaded, huh?"

"You mean the truth, yeah?" Tay says, before taking the order of an annoyingly large family that are standing at the counter impatiently.

Kruz laughs and heads to the back but not before giving one last comment - for the time being, "I didn't realise the other workers let you use their fancy employee only bathroom."

Shit.

"Your girlfriend left in quite a hurry this time didn't she," Chilled half sing-songs to Shubble with that shit-eating grin of his taking up the majority of his face.

"She's not my girlfriend and you know this very well" Shubble replies, trying their best to keep a matching grin off of her face.

"That did not have the same kind of power behind it as it usually does, what's going on?"

Shubble manages to hold out for ten seconds, barely, before telling Chilled the very exciting news, "She actually asked if I wanted to go to a gig on the weekend."

"Holy shit Shubble! No wonder you pretty much just let me have that because she almost is your girlfriend."

“Well, we’ll see,” And Shubble can't help but smile.
