Wifies had been here for as long as he could remember. He didn’t remember what happened before he was stuck in this pitchless void, or any people. There was a strange emptiness, and Wifies could only just stare off into space meaninglessly. No shred of sleep or hunger reached Wifies.
However, it seemed this time there was a new person joining.
“Oh, hey Parrot’s friend!” Spoke greeted cheerfully upon entering the chunkban.
Wifies’ expression turned strange as he whipped his head to the only other voice in the radius.
“Who—? Who are you?”
Spoke paused.
“Uh, it’s Spoke. Were you not awake? Didn’t Parrot tell you?”
At Spoke’s words, Wifies’ eyebrows furrowed more in confusion. Surprisingly, his memories could only draw blanks. “Parrot? What Parrot?”
Spoke stared in disbelief.
“Did you like—hit your head? Are you actually for real?”
Wifies hesitantly nodded, visibly nervous at Spoke’s reaction.
“Oh..” A creeping smile snuck onto Spoke’s face. “Well, I’m your boy-friend.”
“Huh?”
Spoke went forward to playfully kiss the crown of Wifies’ head and lips, hugging him happily.
“Kissing is a sign that you want to make up or it can be a sign of friendship!” Spoke promptly beamed as he grabbed onto Wifies’ arm with an eagerness that rivaled the passion whenever he teased everyone. “A lot has happened today, Wifies! Let’s go to sleep together.”
“Ah.. I don’t even know what your name is.. I don’t know where I am either.” Wifies was cute when he had no idea what was happening. “I’m so sorry—”
Spoke dramatically yawned, interrupting Wifies as he raised his arms exaggeratedly to pull Wifies down into a close embrace.
“Just call me Spoke, alright? Goodnight,” Spoke murmured, snuggling up all in Wifies’ personal space. He plopped his head on Wifies’ shoulder, arms hugging around Wifies as if he was a stuffed plush.
Wifies tensed before forcibly relaxing himself, accepting his defeat.
“.. Night, Spoke.”
The next time Wifies returned, vision returning in bright blotches of color, it was when he was freed back into the server.
“Wifies!” someone called out. They rushed over to see Wifies in all his glory, hand instinctively reaching out to yank Wifies into a big hug.
Wifies’ mind was in an entirely different place. He didn't understand why he suddenly got pushed out of that void-like area, falling onto stone in the bright sun. The bird that greeted him and ranted about how they saved him matched the vibrant surroundings, but Wifies didn’t recognize him. He knew he would’ve, seeing the other was colorful and distinctive.
Wifies glanced at the name tag above.
“ParrotX2..”
“Yes, Wifies?”
Parrot waited as Wifies contemplated, looking at the floor in deep thought before nodding, seemingly figuring out what he wanted to say. Before Parrot could realize what happened, turning his head, Wifies went forward and kissed Parrot on the lips.
“Uh,” Parrot robotically said, face flushing. “Wifies?” He pushed down the embarrassment threatening to explode as he tried to search why Wifies was doing this. Was it all because he saved him?
“We’re boy-friends. It’s a sign,” Wifies replied.
Parrot glanced at him strangely after that, occasionally muttering, “boyfriends? Am I genuinely..”
Wifies took that as a sign of their friendship improving.
Wifies didn't know what happened. Parrot had heatedly exclaimed with other people—other friends, perhaps?—that they’ve made enemies with someone named Zam. That they’ve hired the same person that attacked them in the house they were in earlier.
It was worse when Clown had apparently taunted them, telling them to go to specific coordinates. Wifies didn’t exactly know what was happening, but Parrot’s panic only made him feel guilty. He didn't know if it was appropriate to kiss the other to remind Parrot that he was still a friend of his.
When they’ve arrived, Parrot boasting about how it was a two versus one, almost instantly, him and Parrot were left scrambling. Although Wifies has lost his memories, he had enough awareness to know that this Clown-assassin guy was more than meets the eye. He was unfortunately right as Parrot’s bucket got drained rather quickly and Clownpierce stabbed with haste.
Parrot briefly put on the elytra and began to fly, seemingly trying to find an exit without him. Wifies had been hiding his amnesia after Parrot’s probing. It was to reduce concern but it was going to bite him back sooner or later, Wifies could tell.
“Should you really be leaving your teammate alone with me?”
Clown’s focus oddly shifted to Wifies the longer they fought. Were they aware of Wifies’ skill deficit? Wifies didn’t want to die. His memories were still incomplete and fragmented, he was sure there were more people out there that cared about him too. Wifies wanted to let them know that he was okay.
As Clown took a swing at him and taunted Parrot once again, Wifies sprang forward and gave Clown the best smash he could with what he had. A kiss. It wasn’t warm like the previous ones, it was of blood, teeth smashing against each other, and a sharp blade slicing at the edge of Wifies’ skin. Despite the pain simmering, Wifies made sure the kiss lasted for longer, feeling how Clown tensed, axe almost swinging up and cutting Wifies clean off, but Wifies kept his stance firm. He wanted to let Clown know that Wifies, himself, was still willing to make up and have peace—to let go of Zam’s bounty. He was sure Parrot agreed too.
“Mngh—!”
Clown responded back by tearing into Wifies’ lips with sharp teeth, and keeping Wifies in place. With how Clown reacted, did Clown also want to make peace?
Wifies could see his reflection in Clown’s eyes before a shocked and angry Parrot descended on them from behind. Clown jumped back with a smirk.
“What the hell!” Parrot angrily shouted.
Clown smiled slyly as Parrot fumed, stomping over and picking Wifies up by the back of his sweater.
“Truce?” Wifies asked, seeing Clown that recuperated. “We can make up, let’s stop fighting.”
Before Clown could answer, Leo and the others arrived at the scene, forcing him to take off into the distance.
“Wifies! Why would you do that?” Parrot grabbed onto Wifies’ face to stare at him with teary eyes.
Wifies frowned. Did Parrot not agree to make a truce? This was unfortunate.
“I thought.. we wanted to make peace?”
“Wifies, are you aware what kissing someone means?”
“..”
Parrot’s face was already flush from watery eyes, but it seemed to worsen as he murmured something indistinguishable. Wifies blinked in confusion before Parrot nodded in determination.
Parrot planted his mouth firmly onto Wifies’, eyes crinkling.
“Kissing means you like them,” Parrot shakily said, inhaling greatly as if performing the action and saying the statement was a big deal. “So, don’t go around kissing everyone, Wifies.”
Wifies stared before patting Parrot on the back silently, feeling Parrot heave heavily.
‘Though, I do like them..’ Was Parrot not used to having many friends? Did he think Wifies would leave him for other friends? Or maybe, showing affection wasn’t normalized and people were used to being met with cold glances. Everyone just needs love in their life.
“Okay..,” Wifies responded. If Parrot didn’t want him kissing anyone in front of him, Wifies would just show his signs of peace and friendship away from Parrot. Wifies was glad Parrot was comfortable enough to tell him his issues.
It was when Wifies was sitting, staring at the sun after he was told to be left behind that someone jumped down in front of him.
“Name is Ferre.” Ferre yanked Wifies up to his feet and pulled him close. “You’re our hostage now.”
“Huh?” Wifies dumbly said.
Ferre stared at Wifies’ puzzled expression before landing on his lips. His eyes narrowed in deep concentration before he leaned forward, pressing his rough lips against Wifies’.
‘Wifies seems to be fine.. There doesn’t seem to be poison on his mouth, so why would he kiss Clown other than for defense?’
Ferre subconsciously pressed harder against Wifies as Wifies’ nails began to dig into his arms. By the time he withdrew, Wifies was left panting with a glint in his eyes that spoke of gratefulness..?
“.. Are you from Clownpierce? Are we coming to a compromise?” Wifies asked, genuinely curious.
Ferre didn’t answer as he dragged Wifies into the nether. Wifies was unaware of the bitten lip that was left as evidence as he squinted his eyes from the whirling portal. Safe to say, Parrot’s eyes darkened a shade upon the sight of it.
Wifies was supposed to be doing something else. Instead, his wrists were yanked and shoved above and against a tree. Wifies would've accepted the sign of friendship, but he remembered Parrot’s remark.
Wifies struggled as Wemmbu restrained him harder. It was before Parrot suddenly appeared and punched Wemmbu off.
“Wemmbu,” Parrot said.
The appointed perpetrator simply grinned.
Parrot glared. “We are teaming up to steal Boosfer’s team’s items. Not—” Parrot cut himself off, gritting his teeth. He quickly glanced at Wifies’ innocent eyes before returning to Wemmbu’s gradually widening smirk.
“Not to kiss my best friend because of a stupid rumor!” he angrily shouted. “You know what you’re doing!”
”Hehe..”
Wifies had lost his memory once again upon entering the temporaral chunkban in Proton.
By the time Wifies had scrambled out, he had completely forgotten what he was doing. He stared at his own items as a strange motivation inside told him to find someone. A person named Parrot.
That was also the time Wifies realized, they knew him. He didn’t.
‘Having to pretend to be someone you aren’t.. What a miserable experience,’ Wifies thought.
He didn’t have much time longer before he was dragged into escaping the supposed place everyone else was kept in. Wifies felt an odd sense of betrayal towards the name ‘Clownpierce’ before he quickly shook it off. As if breaking a truce.
‘Probably nothing..’
Parrot and Wifies confront a mafia member that had been following them. Their user was Deanthebean9, and Parrot decided on traveling with them.
He looked friendly enough, but strangely Dean’s eyes lingered on Wifies’ figure more. The moment Parrot turned away, Dean pulled Wifies close and into a kiss.
Wifies made a surprised noise before Dean backed off with a nervous, excited grin.
“I've heard that kissing was your sign of friendship and everything.. I want to be friends.”
Was it?
“I’m sorry, just forget it—”
Wifies pecked Dean back, fleeting and kind, and Dean paused before smiling stupidly—albeit endearing.
‘Was Wifies too shy to do it until I initiated? I’ll make sure to kiss Wifies more then,’ Dean thought.
There was now a heavier air settled around Parrot as Parrot stared at every interaction with dead, beady eyes.
It was many months later when Wifies had suddenly lost contact with his signals did he realize something was wrong.
“Why can't you sit still like you’re supposed to? Doing—kissing everyone but me and hiding from me.. Do you even want to be my friend?”
When a glint of netherite trim armor came into view, Wifies paused.
“Parrot?”
Parrot surged forward, gripping onto Wifies’ jaw as he forced him into a kiss.
“Please,” Parrot said with a tinge of desperateness, “stay with me. Don’t be with anyone else, just stay with me. I am safe. They'll take advantage of you like they’ve done before.”
There was an odd familiarity in Wifies’ brain. He felt that he, himself, was supposed to be in the other’s role, but Wifies couldn’t pinpoint why.
Bedrock walls, heads strung across floors, and glass panes flashed in Wifies’ mind before he finally remembered everything. The puzzles, the chunkban, the civilization, everything else.
‘Oh,’ Wifies thought with a pounding headache as he distantly watched Parrot’s blurry face through foggy lenses. ‘Oh, no.’
The system failed, the system failed.
Wifies was so fucked.
