Chapter 1: Ratatouille r u there

Chapter Text

The fresh air of spring and the vibrant skies it brought had never been a problem for Ixchel, if anything she enjoyed it.
The way the world fell into an allergic lively setting of chaos brought exciting fond memories and of course, chances to wear outfits with the thrill of not knowing wether you would fall to a heat stroke or not.

Whether you agree with this or not, there is still an undeniable beauty to it.
Spring is when everything is rebirthed, the bloom of the plants happen and everything receives a new shine.

what she didn't enjoy was that she wasn't exactly on earth now, and she'd have to miss it this time around. Perhaps even for the next couple of years.
The idea irked her, so she ignored it.

Sitting in bed, rubbing the tiredness and weird stinging in her eyes, she suddenly realized adolf was missing. His spot in bed next to her empty and cold.
She let her hand fall on the familiar mattress provided by the spaceship.
Not only was she missing out on spring but now adolf was gone. Could it get any worse?

Ixchel sighed and got up, dragging her body to the shower and forcing herself to clean up and look presentable.
By the time she was out, the dorm smelled of.. pancakes? With sausage and honey?
What's up with that?

Walking back to the room the blue haired women quickly threw on a shirt and finished dressing up, already heading to the kitchen to investigate.

In the kitchen was a sight to behold. Adolf Reinhardt bent over a kitchen stove preparing breakfast.
The sight itself made Ixchel freeze. Usually they'd eat the pre prepared breakfasts from the space ship provided or she'd cook something for the both of them, but this? It was unheard of.

What should she do in this situation? Of course the best line of action would be to slowly walk towards him undetected before lunging at him, wrapping her arms around his waist as she dug her face into his back.
This was not the best course of action as she soon felt a stinging shock coarse through her body.

The force of it stiffened her body, losing balance and falling back.
She didn't have much air time before two arms wrapped around her, stopping her fall.

"Ixchel, you're awake. Are you alright? You startled me."
Adolfs tone was low and relaxed, but there was a hint of worry in it. She couldn't tell if it was from the fall or the fact she caught him cooking
"Yeah, just woke up, I'm fine and you're..cooking?"
She steadyd herself back on her feet but kept a light hold on him
"Yes, I figured our fridge was getting rather..over saturated and you hadn't cooked in a while, so I decided to make us something"
His gaze avoided hers as he turned back around and  continued working on the food. She was lucky to have caught that light blush building on his cheeks
"Yeah but since when do you cook? This smells amazing, you obviously have experience. This can't be the first time."

Ixchel reached over and nuzzled her head between the nape of his neck, her arms securely wrapped around adolf, this time without the zap

"Well there's a first for everything, I just happen to be good at all my firsts"

His hands continued to move across the stove with a practiced precision, and soon the food was done

"Ixchel, sit. Let me serve you a plate."

Ixchel reluctantly let go of him and walked back to their table, taking a seat and watching as he set a plate in front of her before serving himself a plate and sitting across from her

"Chelee, you know you're lying right?"

"What do you mean?"
He responded, a fork that had previously been making its way to his mouth pausing mid air

"Cmon, this is way too good, and way too familiar to be your first time. Be honest, this isn't your first time making us breakfast is it?"
Ixchel smiled and picked up a portion of her food, chewing it slowly

He put the fork down with a sigh
"Angel, you know I don't like lying to you. Let me have this.."

Her tail suddenly started swishing behind her, proud she picked up her fork and pointed it at him

"So I'm right? When? Since when do you make breakfast?"
There was no real malice or anger in her words, it was all just light hearted teasing, and they both knew it

"Well. It's not like I do it often.. It's just, sometimes I get the urge or maybe..want you to feel better. The food the spaceship delivers can be stale at times. I know that. You've expressed your distain for it before so I thought maybe something with flavor would help."

There. That rosy color came back to his cheeks again and Ixchel was delighted to see it

"Oh my God, that explains why the food is actually good sometimes, that was you?"

Ixchel leaned over the table, elbow hoisting up the rest of her arm, her head resting on her hand

"On earth it's spring and I know you miss it so I thought some seasoning might cheer you up. A good morning breakfast will always do that to you"

He picked up a napkin and dabbed it around his mouth, obviously still shy about the whole situation

The sentiment caught her off guard, he had noticed? And not only that, he tried to provide comfort.

"Yeah the food is.. really good"

Her heart skipped a beat as she watched the man across from her, an official and professional, a man who had gained respect from everyone around him, fidget with a napkin as he grew flustered at the idea of getting caught showing affection..

"Adolf since when do you have such a cute side!"

Lxchel suddenly climbed over the table and lunged at him again, arms wide open heading directly at him

"L-lxchel, calm yourself!"

his screaming came to an abrupt stop turning into muffled noise as her lips crashed against his.

She suddenly realized she'd rather him over spring, than a spring without him
