Tobio.exe stopped working

Summary:

Times when Tobio.exe stops working curtsy of one Oikawa Tooru.

Work Text:

Oikawa-Senpai is an extremely touchy person (Tobio means it both in personality and physically). Being physically affectionate is ingrained in his soul.

Tobio knew that; he had often observed him at Kitagawa, patting the shoulders of the juniors, ruffling hair, and draping himself across Iwaizumi-san’s back. Tobio himself was a more conservative person in terms of touch. His family life had also been pretty matter-of-fact; some could also describe it as cold. Each of them minded their own business, touching upon each other’s lives minimally or as required in terms of social niceties like birthdays, etc.

So it came as a *slight* shock to his system when he and Oikawa-senpai started dating. Before, Tobio had felt that there had been a sort of tension or distance between them. Oikawa-senpai had barely given him the time of day, and Tobio also stayed out of his way (most of the time; sometimes he had just not been able to help but approach the other boy).

But after starting as an Aoba-Josai first year (after hours of begging and apologies from Oikawa-senpai, humph), it had seemed that some sort of barrier had collapsed from Oikawa-senpai’s side. He had lost all concept of personal space. It had just gotten worse when they had started dating.
-----------------------------------
1. Surprise Kiss

They were not hiding their relationship. The volleyball team of Aoba-Josai obviously knew about them; the school did not (those fangirls of Oikawa-senpai would eat him alive; this was a necessity for his own safety).

Oikawa-senpai had developed an unusual habit of randomly yanking an unsuspecting Tobio to abandoned corridors and planting a kiss on the poor boy's lips.

The first time it had happened, Tobio had been on his way to the fourth class of his day, which just happened to be gym. Coincidentally, Oikawa-senpai’s class had just finished their gym period. Tobio had been slightly late due to being held back for English, and he had just been turning the last corner to the gym when he was unceremoniously pulled behind the gym building.

A scream had gotten stuck at the back of his throat as warm lips softly covered his own. Tobio’s eyes widened as he stared into the familiar light brown eyes.

As Oikawa-senpai pulled back, Tobio could feel a slight flush creep up his neck, slowly climbing his face.

“Good luck, Tobio-chan.” Oikawa-senpai purred, dropping another kiss on his cheek before sauntering away, leaving a dazed Tobio behind.

Tobio had absolutely no recollection of what he had done in that gym period.
-----------------------------------
2. Cuddle

Oikawa-senpai was tall. Though Tobio was still growing, so was Oikawa-senpai, and he just knew that he would never be able to reach Oikawa-senpai’s height.

Oikawa-senpai loved sprawling on him in any way and form. Tobio was quite impressed by his Senpai’s ability to cuddle him in any position. If Tobio was standing, conversing with someone, not paying attention to Oikawa-senpai (a grievous offence in Senpai’s books, he is quite sure), the other boy would curl around him, bending his spine and resting his chin on his shoulder.

Once it had happened in the volleyball club and Tobio had been discussing serves with the first years. Oikawa-senpai had just finished chatting with the coach. He had barely even noticed when arms had wound themselves like vines around his waist, pulling him flush against the other boy’s chest. A pointy weight had settled on his right shoulder, warm breath puffing against his ear.

The incredulous look on the other first years had slowly brought his attention to the fact that they were in public. In front of other people, no matter how used to this he was, Tobio still wasn’t used to the public, almost demonstrative displays of his lover. A deep flush had risen on his face as he lost the head or tail of what he had been talking about.

He had been quite thankful for the volleyball Iwaizumi-san had launched at his lover’s face, though he had helped him ice the bruise later on.
-----------------------------------
3. Strong

This one was really not Oikawa-san’s fault. (Though Tobio blames him entirely for corrupting him. It *was* his fault.)

Oikawa-senpai was strong. They were athletes; they trained quite frequently, and with the way Oikawa-senpai spiked and served, Tobio knew he was strong.

It's just in the context of volleyball; Tobio was quite objective and a good, impartial judge with no *other* feelings or insinuations. Strength was just something that added power to the spikes and serves, which then helped you score more points.

Strength had never meant something quite so different to him. Had never meant to make him blush. But as Tobio slowly and steadily had started to realise, with Oikawa-senpai, never say never.

They had been stretching after the volleyball practice. Nothing out of the ordinary, but on this rare occasion, Tobio and Oikawa-senpai paired up together for the cool-down stretches.

Tobio had been in the process of helping Oikawa-senpai stretch forward, hands braced on his shoulders. He felt the thick muscles contract and bunch under his palms as Oikawa-senpai stretched forward. From his line of sight, he saw the sweat trickle down from Senpai’s hair, sliding down the back of his neck. The back of his neck tensed. He had broad shoulders. Strong arms.

Tobio had been staring. He had been staring so much that Oikawa-senpai had noticed, and Tobio had had a sinking realisation as he watched a devlish grin form on the older boy’s face that he had known exactly what Tobio had been thinking.

Needless to say, that had been the last time he had helped Oikawa-senpai stretch.
-----------------------------------
4. Praise

Tobio thinks it's mostly due to some echoes of middle school. There is something deep (very, very deep) within him that just craves Oikawa-senpai’s praise.

Not that he doesn’t feel good when others praise him. He loves it when the team pats his shoulders after a match or a particularly good practice. It heals something in him that shattered on that court in middle school. It smooths out those jagged edges.

It's something that jolts Tobio to his core when, after a particularly gruelling match, amidst the celebrating team, Oikawa-senpai grabs him by his nape, pulls him forward so his forehead bumps against his.

Tobio feels another one of those blasted flushes rising to his face, as, like a kitten dangling by his nape, he looks at his Senpai, eyes wide. They had been close enough to share breath. On top of this, Oikawa-senpai had said, with his voice low and husky, “Good job, Tobio, you played wonderfully.”

It's such a normal sentence. But the setting, the voice, and the closeness were like a catalyst at that time. Warmth burst in his chest, and he stood there dazed and unable to speak for a while, till another teammate grabbed him, cheering in his ears.
