Summary
“I say go for it.” Elle could have sworn she heard the hype up in Madison’s voice in her head. Her best friend was always the one who pushed her to do something new or take a risk. Elle balanced out Madison’s impulsivity with thoughtfulness and planning. It was why they’d been able to stay friends for thirteen years.
But she couldn’t go for it. Dustin had every right to be pissed at her, and she didn’t want to push it in the hopes that he’d someday want to be friends again. Though the thought of that outcome also left a bit of a pit in her stomach. So she turned away.
And found Madison LeDoux standing right behind her.
Elle shrieked (and not in an excited way, in a terrified way). It felt like she was seeing a ghost. In fact… she reached over and poked potential-ghost Madison’s arm, and shrieked again when she realized she was real. “Oh my God, you’re here! What are you doing here?”
“Matriculating,” Madison responded as she looked over Elle’s shoulder down the hall.
