Anyway you need me

Summary:

Scar whined as his head thudded against the papers laid all around him. He had been filing these voidforsaken forms for what felt like hours while his partner just sat at the other desk sketching away at his new build design. “Griannnnnn, I’m boreddddd” He cried, lifting his head to pout at his boyfriend.

Grian tilted his head upwards and smirked at Scar’s fit. He lifted his legs off the desk and placed his sketchbook down. “Well I suppose it has been an hour.” He said, glancing down at his watch, “So you can take a break, what are you going to do?” He leaned forward on the desk, propping his head up on his hand.

Work Text:

Grian sat slumped against his desk in the permit office, mindlessly fiddling with his pen. Cub had made him come in that day because one of his coworkers was sick, but he wasn’t told who一So now he found himself on the most boring shift of his career. Normally he’d at least get a few visitors, people trying to update their permits or getting new ones approved. But today, there was nobody.

He had tried to occupy his time by doing paperwork or sketches for his next build, but even that had been tiring on his mind. Now he was doing trick moves with his pen and staring at the ticking clock on the wall, watching as the minutes ticked by agonizingly slow. He had debated calling his friends or his sister, but then remembered that almost all of them had plans一especially Pearl, since she was going on a date with Gem. Maybe he could call Scar and just listen to the man chat his ear off about star wars.

He sat staring at the ticking clock for a moment longer before reaching to the other side of his desk for his communicator, intending to message Scar to come hang out with him. But right while he was typing the message, the door to the permit office swung open and the very man he was about to message strided inside. “Well if it isn’t my favourite permit man.” The vex hollered, approaching Grians desk and leaning onto it.

“Hi, Scar.” Grian smiled, “Y’know, I was just about to message you to come hang out with me” He said, propping his elbows on the desk and resting his head in his hands. His eyes darted down to Scar’s slightly unbuttoned poe poe uniform and loose tie around his neck.

“Well then— my timing was perfect!” Scar exclaimed, grabbing the chair and falling down to sit down. Grian hummed and trailed his eyes back up to his boyfriends face. “Boring day?” The brunette asked as he leaned forwards to rest his arms on the desk.

“Oh you have no idea” Grian whined, his head falling down into his hands. His palms pressed into his eyes for a moment and he dragged his hands back down his face, “Thank you for saving me from dying of boredom.”

“Weeellll…” Scar grimaced slightly, leaning back into the chair as he watched Grians face turn from relief to a blank expression. “Im…technically not supposed to be here..” He said with a weak laugh, wincing as his partner’s face turned to slight annoyance.

“Scar…what do you mean..”

The vex laughed, rubbing the back of his neck, “I…kinda, mayyyy be…slacking off..”

“Oh Scar…” Grian groaned, his head dropping back to his hands as he hid from Scars gaze.

“It’s not my fault I’m also bored out of my mind because there's nothing to do!” He protested, his arms crossing over his chest as he turned his head away in mock offense. “Besides, this could technically be classified as official duty since we are a part of the same organization.”

Grian hummed and ran a hand through his hair, “You’re just lucky Cub hasn’t left his office at all today, or he would have your head for slacking.”

Scar winced at the idea and took a quick glance over at Cub’s office. The door was shut and the windows were covered, something his brother would do when he became engrossed in his work; he's been doing it for years despite Scar’s best efforts to get him into a healthier work habit.

“So,” Grians voice brought him out of his thoughts and he turned his head back to the avian. “What can I do for you, Mr. Goodtimes?” He was looking at Scar with a stern expression, trying to get Scar an actual reason to be there.

Scar sat unmoving for a while, his mind racing as he tried to come up with an actual reason that wouldn’t get him reprimanded if Cub decided to come out of his cave, but could think of nothing that wasn’t associated with his own personal needs. Grian sighed as he stared at Scar’s frozen expression and he stood up, coming up with his own solution for his boyfriend. “Come with me, there’s some reports I can give to you from other hermits.” He said, motioning for Scar to follow him to the back report room.

The vex perked up once he was given a proper excuse and waited no time to sit up and follow Grian to the back, mumbling a quick ‘thank you’ to his partner, who gave him a smug look in return, which immediately gave scar an unsettling feeling.

Grian unlocked the back room with one of his many keys and swung the door open for Scar and gestured for him to enter. Scar strided into the dark room and turned back to Grian with a smirk on his lips and an expectant gleam in his eyes一but the avian waltzed right past him to one of the many shelves lined with boxes. Scar stood still for a moment before spinning around to Grian with a baffled look on his face. Grian, who had glanced back for a moment to see Scar’s expression, had a smug look painted on his face as he pulled out one of the boxes and sauntered over to the nearby desk, dropping the box with a heavy thud.

Grian spun around on his heel and leaned against the desk with one hand, a smirk on his lips as he stared at Scar, who was still looking at him with his mouth agape. “Come on, pretty boy, you’ve got work to do.” He said cheekily as he hit his palm against the wood.

Scar sputtered for a moment, gesturing wildly. “I-I thought you were trying to help me get out of not working..! Not actually giving me work!!” He hissed rapidly, his hands jabbing forwards at his boyfriend accusingly.

Grian waltzed behind him and gave him a nudge forwards, “And that, my darling, was your mistake.” He teased, pressing a feather-light kiss to the vex’s cheek.

A slight red blush brushed across Scar’s cheeks and his lips parted slightly before grumbling to himself and walking towards the desk, dropping down into the chair with a sigh and opening the large box of reports. He glanced up and saw that Grian had taken a seat at the desk opposite to him, his legs propped up on the desk and wings stretching behind him. Scars pointed ears drooped, mourning what could have been if Grian hadn’t dropped that box on his desk一maybe he would have had his sun pressed against it instead.

Scar perked up, his head lifting up on the desk as his ears shot upwards. “Really?” He asked, joy seeping into his voice. “Will you do something with me?”

Grian looked at him with confusion and a bit of expectancy in his eyes. “And what would that be?”

Scar stood up with a grin. “C’mere”

The avian raised his eyebrow and obliged, standing up from his chair and meeting Scar halfway in the middle of the room. He crossed his arm across his chest and looked at Scar with a curious smile.

Scar gave him a cheeky look as his hand brushed against the avian’s waist. Grian’s gaze dipped down to Scar’s hand before back to his partner's face, “Scar..”

The vex’s hand slid around Grians waist and pulled him forward. The avian stumbled slightly, his hands darting out to catch himself on Scar’s chest and ducking his head into the crook of his neck. “Hi, pretty bird.” He heard Scar mumble into his ear, his chest rumbling underneath Grian’s palms. He pressed his face further into Scar’s neck as he felt warmth creeping up his neck.

“Scar, what are you doing…” Grian asked, cursing to himself silently as he heard his flustered tone.

Scar hummed against his ear, running his hands up and down the avian's back, “Just showing my beloved partner how much I love him.” He muttered, his head tilting down as he pressed a light kiss to the avian's neck and feeling him shiver under his touch.

“Scar, we’re still in the permit office.” Grian protested weakly, leaning back in Scar’s embrace to look him in the eyes.

Scar leaned forward and lifted his free hand to cup Grians cheek, “Yes…But we’re also in the furthest part of the building. And Cub is in one of his work fits.”

Grian’s mouth shut after that, not attempting to protest any longer. His gaze dipped down to Scar’s slightly unbuttoned uniform and any attempt at resisting his lover’s temptation went out the window. Scar, realizing he had won, chuckled softly, his hand brushing through Grians hair briefly before tugging him forward, pressing his lips against the avian’s.

Grian froze for a moment, but then melted into the kiss, his hands sliding up to tangle into Scar’s hair, his fingers grazing a spot behind his pointed ears. In reaction to his touch, Scar pushed further, causing them to stumble back a few steps. The back of Grians legs hit the desk he was previously sitting at and he readjusted his grip on Scar so he wouldn’t fall. One hand remained in his lover's hair while the other slipped down to his neck, gripping the collar of his uniform.

Scar pulled back gasping, his forehead resting against Grian’s一who was staring at him with half-lidded eyes. A grin appeared on Scar’s face as he chuckled softly, running a hand down Grian’s hair to caress his cheek. “Don’t you look like a mess..” He muttered softly, watching as a poor attempt at annoyance appeared on the avian’s face and a smile tugged at his lips.

“You don’t look too good yourself” The blonde teased back, running a hand down one of the scars on the vex’s face. Scar hummed and leaned into Grians touch, angling his head to catch the palm of his partner's hand and press a kiss to it.

“So, do you regret my decision to do this?” The brunette asked with a burning look in his eyes.

Grian stayed quiet for a moment, his gaze flickering between Scar’s eyes and lips. His actions spoke larger than his words as he played with the collar of Scar’s shirt, his fingers brushing against the side of his neck as a smile danced at his lips. “You are a very convincing man…So, no, I do not” He replied, his gaze settling on Scar’s eyes. “But I do feel like we could get caught, very easily.”

He was right, the desk that Scar currently had him pressed against was very close to the door, and if Cub decided to come out of his work mode and enter this room, he’d probably be banned from ever entering the permit office at the same time that Grian was there一 definitely not something he wanted. The brunette stood there thinking for a minute, his eyes darting around the room for a better place before they settled on an area behind the shelves. His gaze moved back to Grian with a certain look in his eyes and a smirk on his lips. Grian stared back with a look of his own, but the opposite of Scar’s一A mock annoyance look, but Scar knew he was just teasing as it was something he enjoyed to do, a lot.

Scar’s hand slid down Grian’s arm and slipped it into Grian’s hand, intertwining their fingers and pulling him to the shelves. “What are  you planning, Scar?” The avian asked, a hint of excitement in his voice that was barely noticeable.

The brunette looked back for a quick moment with a playful glint in his eyes. “You’ll seeeee” He said in a sing-song voice. Grian huffed and continued to follow Scar to the back of the shelves, noting that he could no longer see the door. Ah, so that’s what he was doing. Grian laughed to himself and stared at Scars form from behind with nothing but love in his eyes.

They made it to the back of the shelves and stopped, completely concealed from the doorway and anyone who could enter. Grian stared as Scar remained still, confusion taking over his own expression. But just as he was about to ask Scar what he was doing, the vex moved. He had turned so suddenly that Grian had no time to react as he grabbed his face and pressed his lips to his, his back hitting the shelf. He was in shock for a fraction of a second before his hands found their way back to Scar’s hair, pressing himself further into the kiss as his wings fluffed up behind him.

Scar hummed against his lips as his hands moved from Grian’s cheeks to the base of his aural wings, lightly brushing the feathers there. Grian gasped at the contact and pulled Scar as close as he could to him, leaving zero space between them. A smile tugged at Scar’s lips in the kiss, an opportunity that Grian took to separate for a quick breath before diving right back in. The blonde gently rubbed his fingers at the base of Scar’s neck, a spot he knew Scar liked, earning him a low groan from Scar in response.

The vex shifted his stance, his hips pressing against Grians and one leg settling between them. His hand slid from Grians aural feathers down to the base of his shirt, gently untucking it from his jeans and slipping his hand underneath and moving up to the base of his wings, lightly brushing the skin right below them. The avian nearly melted at the contact, a bird-like noise similar to one of pleasure came out, muffled against Scars lips. (IM GONNA END IT WHAT AM I DOING)

Scar pulled back from the kiss and tilted his head downwards, pressing himself against Grians neck, lightly kissing right below the avian’s ear and felt him shiver underneath him. “Scar” He hissed, if Scar left even the faintest mark there the blonde was going to end him. But Scar just hummed in response to his name and slotted his lips in a particulate spot on Grian’s neck, causing the avian to grip his hair even tighter as he attempted to keep quiet. Scar continued to press kisses all over the blonde's neck, but not hard enough to leave a mark一yet. Grians breathing was sharp and fast as he dug his face into Scar’s shoulder, a chirp escaping his lips, the exact reaction the vex was looking for.

As Scar began to press harder with his kisses on Grian’s neck, intending to leave a mark, a faint jingle was heard on the other end of the room. They both froze and Grian held his breath to hear better, the door to the room creaked as it opened and footsteps echoed through the walls. Scar readjusted himself slightly, pressing his face further into Grians neck in an attempt to make his breathing quieter. Cub had exited his office and was seemingly searching the room for some kind of document, and Grian was just praying that he didn’t round this corner and find them, because they were in a very compromising position.

As Cub continued to shuffle around the boxes, Scar's attention shifted to the man in front of him, feeling the ragged rise and fall of his chest and his increased heart rate from his pulse point, and a bad idea surfaced in his mind. He shifted once more and pressed his lips to the base of Grians neck, a stiffened gasp coming from the avian. Grian realized what he was doing and lightly smacked him on the side of the head, trying to get him to stop, but Scar didn’t. He continued to press kisses onto Grian’s neck and the avian found it to be increasingly more difficult to keep quiet so Cub wouldn’t find them.

He heard Cub pause from what he was doing for a moment and his panic soared, they were going to get caught. But then he heard him put a box back up on the shelf and leave the room. He sighed in relief but then was reminded of the one who had caused him his panic in the first place by the pleasant sensation on his neck. He smacked Scar on the head and pulled him back from his neck with a glare, “Scar! You almost got us caught you idiot” He hissed with no real bite behind his words.

But Scar just stared back at him with zero regret in his eyes, a smirk on his lips “Yeah, but we didn’t.” He muttered, pressing his lips to Grians once more. Grian sighed into the kiss and brought his hands back to Scars face. He was a weak, weak man when it came to Scar, he would pull down the moon for him if he had to. Scar consumed him, he was his every thought, why he woke up in morning, he grounded Grian and helped him when needed. So he really couldn’t complain since while he wouldn’t outwardly admit it, he did enjoy it.

He pulled back from Scar and gazed into his eyes, a finger trailing one of the scars on his lover’s face, “But we were quite close to being” Grian bit back, Scar hummed and leaned his head into Grians palm.

The avian looked him up and down and finally took in Scar’s disheveled appearance一 his hair was messy and all over the place, his cheeks were flushed and his lips were swollen from his kisses. If he had to bet, he probably looked much worse due to Scar taking an interest in his neck, but he knew he only took an interest in the lower area where a collared shirt could easily hide anything.

He stared for a quick moment longer before pulling out his communicator, earning a curious glance from Scar. “I’m messaging Cub and telling him that I don’t feel well and need to go home.” He explained, his eyes darting up to see excitement in Scar’s eyes as he finished typing out the message. Once he sent out the message to Cub he pulled away from Scar fully and straightened out his clothes, stretching out his wings with a slight wince from how they were pressed against the wall and turned to Scar. “Come on, we can head back to my place.” He said with a glint in his eyes. Scar perked up and halted his motions of getting himself straightened out and took Grians hand, who led them out of the permit office.

Once outside, Grian grabbed Scar and positioned him to hold and outstretched his wings, giving them one powerful flap and launching them into the air. Scar sat comfortably in his arms bridal style, his arms wrapped around Grians neck as he gazed in front of them as they flew towards Grians house in the mountain. Cub had responded to Grians message with an okay, but that was a message for future Grian. Right now, his focus was entirely on having a pleasant evening with the man in his arms.

The sun began to set on the server, pinks and oranges swirling through the sky, painting a perfect backdrop for the perfect evening. And since Grian had told Cub that he had become ill, he had the perfect excuse for not coming in the next morning, since knowing Scar一He’d probably need it.

Notes:

Cub does eventually find out the real reason Grian called out, Grian is not longer safe.
Hope you enjoyed these two being public menaces.

I no longer have anything pre-written so I might not post something for a while, at least not till I get another idea then write it out in a single night.
