Chapter Text
Enjin was a man who noticed things. It was an important part of his job as a cleaner. He noticed the habits and patterns of trash beasts, which allowed him to clean efficiently and with few safety issues. He noticed the pattern in which Semiu handed out assignments, which enabled him to sneak and slack off at just the right time.
What Enjin really noticed, though, was people. He noticed the scrawny kid running and fighting for his life in the polluted zone right after falling from the sky. He noticed the child assassin and all her potential.
He noticed the kid cursing himself at the bottom of a well, and he noticed that same kid climb his way out after him. He noticed the kid grow up into one of the most skilled fighters he’d ever seen.
He also noticed how Zanka’s self-doubt and insecurity held him back. He saw how positive reinforcement and praise fueled him into becoming the best version of himself. He also saw the way Zanka would turn red and get the goofiest smile on his face from it, but interestingly enough, only if the praise came from Enjin.
So yeah, Enjin was a man who noticed things. It was an important part of his job as the leader of Team Akuta. He noticed the habits and patterns of his teammates, which allowed him to maintain peace between them all. He noticed their strengths and weaknesses, which helped him to guide and train them.
But what Enjin really, really noticed, though, was Zanka, and of course, Zanka’s not-so-secret crush on him.
