Adora examines her empty champagne flute, only half listening to Glimmer's instructions. "So we just shove it in? Doesn't sound so complicated." She twirled the glass around in her hand. Catra stroke the curve of her stomach, they were both surprised at how big she had gotten over the last few months. "Pink for a girl, blue for a boy. Easy," she smiled at Catra, "which do you want?"
"Doesn't really matter, I guess," Catra thought for a moment. "Just as long as it doesn't have your big head." She chuckled as Adora nudged her. The two women shared a quick kiss.
All the part goers waited on the edge of their seats as the couple lowered their glasses into the cake. Some chanting for a girl, some a boy. Adora squeezed Catra's hand and took a deep breath. They both felt the same way, it didn't matter. What matter was the life they were going to their child. A life full of love and acceptance and joy that their own childhoods lacked.
They released their breaths and the glasses emerged from the cake. Catra frowned, "Glimmer, what the hell is this?" Adora puzzled at her own glass. Their audience whispered amongst themselves confused.
"I wasn't sure what to do," Glimmer shrugged. "Rainbow made sense."
"What do you mean you didn't know what to do?" Catra hissed.
Adora jumped in, "yeah, you had the stuff. And you said pink or blue."
"Well," Glimmer toyed with a lose strand of her hair. "You see-"
"Just tell us already."
Adora gasped, "is the baby gay?"
"You're not having a single baby." Glimmer smiled, "it's five, like a whole litter! Isn't that exciting?"
Their eyes widened, looking down at Catra's stomach. "That's a lot of babies," Adora mumbled, processing the information. "Is that too many babies?" She swung her head around frantically, pausing at Catra's smile.
"I can handle five little Adoras," Catra scoffed.
"Well," Adora pulled her wife closer, "I can handle five mini Catras!" They kissed amongst a roar of applause and congratulations. "Thanks for this, Glimmer. The partys great."
Glimmer waved her off as to say no big deal. Catra smirked at the queen, "yeah, Glim." She took a bit out of the cake in her glass. "And thanks for agreeing to help with babysitting."
"Wait, guys," Glimmer stuttered, "I never said-"
"Aw, Glimmer!" Adora pulled her into their hug.
