Chapter Text
katie let out a loud exhausted sigh as she sat down at the steps of her hq, fiddling around with her sleeve. she just had one of the most busy days of her life on this island, maybe a bit of an exaggeration, considering the things that have happened to her. but alas, she was always one for dramatics.
she wondered if she should just go straight to sleep, unsure of who would really be up at an hour like this. letting out a yawn, she thought of one person who she knew, or well, hoped, would be up at this hour.
grumbling as she stood up, her legs almost giving out from beneath her. she let out a quiet whimper, uncomfortable with how utterly weak she felt. she stumbled forward, too lazy to pull out her warpstone, and touched the waystone that laid in front of her hq.
as her fingers traced the words etched into the stone, she recalled the place her son and co-parent resided. it always felt weird teleporting across this island, but she was glad she didn’t have to walk so far.
she opened her eyes, the purple particles falling around her and fading into the night. she was super glad that multi had turned off the alarms for her, the loud sounds always hurt her ears.
she smiled at her legs. just a little longer and we can rest! she chuckled to herself a bit before walking into the reactor.
katie wasnt super familiar with the labyrinth of multi’s reactor, but she could always remember where a certain mad scientist’s office was. she always checked there first, usually because multi would meet her there anyways.
once she arrived, her legs begging to rest, she knocked on the door. which was useless. because immediately she opened it right after! i mean really, whats the worst i could walk in on?
multi was scribbling on paper, his free hand pulling at his hair. not a great habit that he had, often losing some strands due to how stressed he was. upon hearing the door open, he lifted his head, his heart racing as he was unsure of who it could be.
the obnoxious girl he had came to know stood before him. she was beaming a smile at him expectantly, almost hurting his eyes from how bright she was.
“hellloooo multi!” she said, exaggerating her hello. she tried to keep her voice a bit lower though.
multi sighed, putting down his pen and leaning back in his chair. she liked the way he looked whenever she would interrupt him during work. bothered, but always listening to whatever she had to say.
“go on.” he said, a bit confused on why she was here so late at night. doesn’t she know nacho isn’t here?
she let out a dramatic sigh, coming over to his desk and sitting on it. as she spoke, she fiddled with a strand of hair that had came loose.
“i was um, how is nacho! his mama bear wants to see him.” she said, avoiding eye contact just enough for multi to notice.
“ah, he’s with his uncle right now.” he said, eyeing katie up and down without really realizing. “sorry, i thought you knew.”
she blinked, a bit embarrassed truthfully, but that wouldn’t stop her. even if the two co-parents didn’t say much about their relationship, she had grown to trust multi a lot as they spent more and more time together.
multi was described to her as mad, malicious, and dangerous. she was really expecting him to be exactly just that. but he wasn’t. well, it wasn’t the only thing about him. he had his reasons for everything, and she especially liked how he treated her. albeit, it was the bare minimum, but in her defense, nobody ever really gave her the bare minimum.
i mean, she did have her brothers, but they always seemed to undermine her. ewron she could never truly consider a friend, and she had landed on calling him an enemy recently. mike was nice, but he wasn’t around as much anymore. she missed him. everyone else she knew through others, and wasn’t really close with them.
multi though? she liked multi. katie found it easy for her to make him laugh, which always pleased her. he laughed so genuinely at her antics, never once making her feel uncomfortable for being herself.
he cared for their son so deeply, which sometimes she hoped was reciprocated to her. and sometimes, it was. he always seemed to be irritated whenever her brothers were brought up, but would only ever really say something when it involved them hurting her.
she liked how angry he looked, how seemingly protective he was of her. it made her heart beat quicker. holy fuck, katie, do you have a crush on m—
“hello? earth to katie?” multi said, preparing himself to stand up and shake her. “you okay?”
katie immediately jumped up from the desk and clasped her hands together. “yep! i’m fine haha!” she said, hating how unrealistic she sounded. “y’know, just thinking about my business and such.”
he rolled his eyes, tapping his fingers on the desk. “did you need anything else? i have a lot of work to do, so i’d prefer if—“
“actually!” she said, cutting him off. she kind of didn’t really mean to blurt that out, but she just ran with it. “haha, um, i’ve kind of already y’know, made my way over here! and you see, my legs really hurt and such. and i kind of don’t wanna go back to my house because that requires a ton of walking, so um.”
she took a breath and swallowed hard.
“is it alright if i uhm, stay here tonight?” with you? she thought, fidgeting with her hands.
multi was a bit stunned. he never really outwardly thought about his and katie’s relationship, mostly just brushing it off as he had other things to worry about. he silently curses himself for not thinking more on it though.
he sighed, scratching his neck. “er. i suppose. are you… alright, katie?” he said, feeling a bit weird saying that out loud.
she giggled and nodded. “yes i am! i’m just very sore after a long day of work. wanted to see my baby nacho, but i’ll settle for my multi instead!” she spoke with a big grin on her face, no thoughts in that head of hers.
multi flushed at the comment of being called hers. he gulped, doing his best to brush it off as just her misspeaking. he got up and pressed on the wall of his office, opening up the door to his room. katie followed after him, making beat boxing noises with her mouth.
katie quite liked his room, it was something that dr. multi would totally have. but it was also a bit sad, she could tell he didn’t sleep in here often.
“ah, i do not know if you would like to take a shower, but the offer is there.” he said, doing his best to speak properly. he was a lot more nervous than he should be.
katie hummed, walking around his room. “yeah! is it alright if i borrow your clothes tho?” she said, turning her head to look at him.
he hated the way she was able to say things like that so easily. how it seemed so natural on her lips.
“yeah, kurwa, whatever. i do not mind.” he said, mumbling just a bit as he turned around and went back to his office.
she made a mental note to get him out of his office when she was finished showering. she hummed happily as she headed to the bathroom, taking off her suit and undoing her hair.
multi’s bathroom was quite average, maybe a little too clean, but it was multi, so it made sense. she turned the water on, twisting it and occasionally dipping her hand into the water to test the temperature, carefully adjusting it to the perfect temp. she held onto the metal bar that was in the shower, worried about slipping with how sore her legs were.
the warm water felt great on her skin, and she was quite happy about the water pressure as well. although it was a shower, she desperately wanted to sit down.
she grumbled, slowly descending and keeping her eyes closed so the water wouldn’t get in them. she was a lot happier sitting on the floor of the tub though. it was soothing, so much so that she could probably fall asleep.
she almost would have if she didn’t think about the idea of multi finding her. she chuckled, knowing he would probably be flustered, but not weird about it. just worried. just… multi.
she got up, quickly washing her hair and skin, before getting out of the shower. the cold air stung her skin and she shivered. she felt like a cat after being dipped in water. katie grabbed the only towel available, one that was purely black, definitely multis. she wrapped it around herself and walked back into the room.
it was a bit warmer in the room, and god she was grateful for that. katie was never one to be a fan of cold weather, of course, she hated sweating, but she could at least look good in a wifebeater.
she sat on the edge of the bed, grabbing the clothes she had set aside. she hoped multi wouldn’t find it too weird she was going to borrow his boxers, she kind of didn’t want to wear her own and get judged by him, so she opted for the option that was more sanitary.
multis hoodie didn’t smell a lot like him, probably because he only ever wore that stupid lab coat, or he didn’t have a scent due to how much of a clean freak he was. but it was definitely small, considering the height difference between the two. she found it a little amusing.
she put on sweatpants as well, ones that were not multis size, and something she assumed he was gifted. probably at a house warming party or something. she snickered. envisioning the aloof scientist at a party was quite amusing.
katie loved parties. she was a social butterfly, after all! she recalls memories of the gay club, and how much fun she had. how much alcohol was involved. and… other drugs! but those were not that important, of course.
and suddenly, katie had a wonderful idea.
how would multi be drunk?
