Come To Me Now

Summary:

The letter, the blushing, the faint sparkle in Kawamura-san’s eyes. Oh no…

Nakamura just said yes to Kawamura-san’s confession, didn’t he?

Or, when Hirose sees Nakamura accepting a confession while in a relationship with him, it only makes sense that he'd be upset.

Go fix it, Nakamura-kun!!

Notes:

Chapter Text

Shortly after the last bell had rung, Hirose made his way over to Nakamura’s desk once the rest of the class had made their way out.

Like most days after they began dating, the two had plans to spend a few hours together at Hirose’s house and hang out, play games, lay together, and whatnot. It was essentially their routine at this point, swapping between whose house they’d decided to go to depending on who had the least amount of people home at the time.

Today in particular, neither Hirose’s parents, nor his sister would be home until late into the night. As a result, the couple agreed that his house was probably the better idea, considering the long period of time the two would have privacy and the house to themselves. They both silently came to the conclusion that it might be their best opportunity to get closer than they could’ve whilst others were just outside the brunette’s room.

“Nakamura!” Hirose exclaimed, leaning both his arms on the front of the other’s table.

The older boy looked up slightly from his chair, continuing to carefully put his school supplies in his backpack.

“Oh, Hirose. What’s up?”

“We’re still going to my place today, right? You let your parents know and stuff?”

“Uh, yeah! But, uhm, I have something to do a little before we walk back together. Is it alright if you wait for me at the gates?”

Nakamura threw his randoseru over one shoulder and stood up in front of Hirose, scratching his cheek and avoiding eye contact with a slight blush on his face. Hirose couldn’t help but smile a bit at the fact that his boyfriend was still flustered around him even after almost 2 whole months of dating.

“Yeah, totally! Take your time, we’re not in any rush so it’s cool.”

“A-Alright,” Nakamura sighed contently, “I’ll try to be as quick as possible.”

The pair made their way to the lockers where Hirose changed his shoes, and Nakamura gave Hirose a quick kiss on the cheek before going to finish whatever business he had to attend to.

Hirose stood idly at the front of the school, swaying back and forth on his heels from time to time while quietly waiting for Nakamura. Eventually, he began to run out of patience, and decided to follow the direction the other had gone to try and find him.

He hurriedly walked back into the school, and soon found Nakamura in an empty classroom with Kawamura-san, and the former seemed to be holding what looked like a… love letter? The girl stood in front of Nakamura with her head hung low and arms pinned to her sides, a large cloud of vibrant red blush spreading from ear to ear. It couldn’t be, right? There was no way Nakamura was getting a love confession! More importantly, there’s no way he’d be getting one and not tell Hirose about it. Right…? Hirose quietly crept closer and stood still at the wall that sat right beside the classroom door, attempting to be as silent as possible to easily hear the remainder of the ongoing conversation that he’d missed.

“Y-Yes…” Nakamura said softly, apparently quite embarrassed.

Kawamura-san almost immediately shot her head up, appearing shocked. “Wait… really?”

Nakamura nods.

“Oh, my… I can hardly believe it.”

The dark haired girl slowly walked over to the boy, looking up to meet his eyes. She smiled fondly, “Thank you, Nakamura. This really does make me happy.”

“...I-I would prefer it if you didn’t tell anyone about this, though.”

She tilts her head in confusion, “Sorry?”

“It’s just,” he starts, “I’m afraid of how people will react, so I want this conversation to remain between the two of us. Promise me you won’t tell anyone else? Especially not Hirose… I don’t want him to be upset with me.”

Kawamura-san gently holds his hands on hers and gives Nakamura a sincere look.

“Of course, I won’t tell a single soul, promise. No one has to find out.”

Nakamura smiles right back at her, looking almost as if he’s about to cry right then and there. His grip tightens a bit as his shoulders relax from their previous tensed state.

“Thank you.”

As the boy begins to put the letter in his pocket, outside the door is a devastated Hirose, breathing heavily with tears welling up in his eyes. Did he hear all of that correctly? Did Nakamura just… accept Kawamura-san’s confession? That couldn’t be true! Nakamura wasn’t a cheater! Or, at least he didn’t seem like one. But, if not, then what was that all about? There was no mistaking it, Hirose had already heard what he heard. The letter, the blushing, the faint sparkle in Kawamura-san’s eyes. Oh no…

Nakamura just said yes to Kawamura-san’s confession, didn’t he?

Hirose ran as quickly as he could back to his house, leaving Nakamura with a short text reading “I’m going home.” and nothing more. His head was spinning and his heart felt as if it were being stabbed by a thousand knives at once, the heavy beating pounding against his ribs. The second he got home he rushed to his room and slammed the door shut. He didn’t want to deal with this. He didn’t want to face the fact that his boyfriend of so long would cheat on him so easily, with a girl too! They’d hardly even been dating for that long, and Nakamura had already thought of dating other people. Hirose was heart-broken.

He swiftly grabbed a pair of headphones and threw them over his ears, playing an album of a compilation of melancholic songs by The Smiths and Wallows before laying down on his bed, facing the cold blank wall. He doesn’t cry, he never does. Almost as if he can’t, or he’s not allowed to. Instead, he simply lays there and listens, attempting to use the music as a way to block out all his negative thoughts. He finds that, though it was loud enough to cancel out the noise of the world, his racing mind would always be louder.

Hirose just can’t stop thinking. His brain begins to spiral into all sorts of different self-deprecating thoughts. Was it his fault? What did Kawamura-san have that he didn’t? Was it because she liked BL like Nakamura? Or maybe it was because she was a girl. Could that be it? What was it about Kawamura-san that made Nakamura say yes to her? What was Hirose doing wrong? Nakamura didn’t even break up with Hirose before-hand, he simply just accepted it on the spot. At least if Nakamura had dumped him, maybe he’d feel a little bit better about it. Probably… Okay, maybe not, but it still hurt so bad to know that Nakamura would really rather just cheat than tell Hirose that he didn’t like him anymore.

Namakura wasn’t a bad person. He was understanding and considerate, probably the sweetest guy Hirose had ever met. He would constantly remind Hirose of how much he loved him and pepper him with kisses from time to time. He’d hold Hirose in his arms as if he were scared to let him go. So, what changed? Was all of it fake? A cover up to hide his true feelings? All of the possibilities had Hirose’s head beginning to throb.

In the middle of his agonizing thoughts and thousands of depressing, unanswered questions, Hirose heard a soft knock on his door. He pulled his knees closer to his chest, lazily taking his headphones off with a sigh.

“Go away, Saho-nee.” He barked, “I’m busy.”

But to his surprise, the voice that answered wasn't that of his older sister, it was much more masculine, shy, and squeaky. A voice Hirose could recognize anywhere, and one that, on any other occasion, Hirose would have been ecstatic to hear rather than the alternative.

Ah, shit.

“Uhm… Hirose? I-It’s me, Nakamura. I have something to tell you…”
