The hit music group Nijuugoji naitokoodo de, or Nightcord at 25:00 (who are also girlfriends btw), was just chilling around the Yoisaki household after a warm dinner together.
Kanade was back in her room, head filling up with melodies and notes, but she could also hear the sound of dishes being washed, Mizuki's sewing machine working away, and sometimes Ena’s higher-pitched voice could be heard, rambling about something along with Mafuyu’s lower voice replying to her.
These sounds to Kanade were never distractions, not that anything could distract her when she was composing, but they served as an inspiration and also as music that made her heart feel whole. Then, there was another sound. She was pretty sure everyone in the house could hear it too.
“Achoo!!” Kanade sneezed. It was no surprise, since it was the middle of winter, therefore not a big deal, or so she thought. Soon after, the composer could hear footsteps before a worried face appeared through her door frame.
“Kanade, are you alright?” Ena asked and rushed to her side. “Your body’s so cold! And you’re not even wearing a jacket!”
She quickly took off her own scarf and wrapped it tightly around Kanade’s head while mumbling: “You’re not taking care of yourself at all…”
“Thank you, Ena." Kanade awkwardly laughed. “I’m sorry for making you worried.”
“And she’s rightfully so!” Mizuki suddenly barged in with a warm blanket, while Mafuyu followed behind her with a cup of tea. She wrapped the blanket around Kanade tightly, giving her just enough room to breathe.
“I can’t have my girlfriend sick; what will the others think? ‘Mizuki neglected her girlfriend, and now she has fallen ill! How despicable! She must be fed to the wolves!'"
“No one’s doing that to you, you know!” Mizuki dramatically acted out her death while Ena scowled at her.
“Because Enanan is gonna protect me, right? Enaaa~! You really are my knight in shining armor!"
Mizuki forced Ena into a hug, making the other girl flustered. “Mizuki!”
Kanade watched the scene unfold with a fond smile on her face before noticing something warm against her hand.
"Here," Mafuyu said, handing Kanade the tea. She muttered out a thank you before drinking it, feeling the warmth returning to her body. By the time she finished, Ena and Mizuki had already stopped fighting. Ena apparently gave up, and Mizuki was still dangling by her side.
“Kanade, how are you feeling now?” Ena asked, concern dripping from her voice.
“Thanks, everyone. I’m really glad you guys are here.” Kanade smiled. All the blankets around her made her look like a little ball, to which Mizuki couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
“Well~ Kanade! If you are that thankful, you wouldn’t mind giving your girlfriends some kisses, would you?” She mischievously winked, pointing to her cheek.
Kanade stammered, "I-I-of course not!”
“Then I’ll be first!!” Mizuki shouted, her hands raising while Kanade struggled to take her hands out of the warm blanket.
“That’s unfair!” exclaimed Ena, but still she waited for her turn. “T-Then I’ll be second!”
Mafuyu had no complaints being third. Seeing as Ena had given her scarf to Kanade, Mafuyu wrapped her hands around Ena to keep her warm.
“M-Mafuyu! What do you think you’re doing?!” Ena looked back to see Mafuyu’s face buried in the crook of her neck. The other girl looked back at her, head slightly tilted like a bunny.
“You seemed cold without your scarf, so I hugged you. Am I not allowed? Mizuki also hugged you, didn’t she?” She asked innocently, her eyes looking intensely into Ena’s, making her blush.
"You guys are not fair at all..." Ena sighed and mumbled to herself
Mizuki’s head was turned to her right, awaiting a kiss on her cheek when suddenly, Kanade grabbed her head with both of her hands, turning her head to face her, and planted a kiss right on her lips!
Mizuki was so shocked and flustered: her usual cheekiness was replaced with stutters, and her face was as red as a tomato.
“K- You- uh...I- I mean…” She almost fell backward if Ena were not there to catch her. Kanade was just as flustered, but the sight of her girlfriend panicking was worth it, she thought.
It was Ena’s turn. She had already got Mafuyu off her back, leaving her to come to Mizuki for cuddles instead.
Ena was quite pumped, with an unmistakable twinkle in her eyes, which made Kanade even more nervous. Ena only gently held her chin up with one hand as she lowered her head and kissed her passionately.
Only when Kanade was almost out of breath did Ena stop, her cheeks red from her own bold actions. Seeing Kanade so cute almost gave Ena cuteness aggression, but luckily she managed to hold it in.
When she turned back, she found Mafuyu holding the puddle called Akiyama Mizuki, gesturing to Ena to hold her. Mafuyu stepped toward Kanade promptly, leaned down and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
“Mafuyu?” Kanade called out, surprised by her actions. “Do you not want a kiss?”
Mafuyu only replied calmly: “I just had one. Besides, you seemed overwhelmed by the others already… I didn’t want to force you.”
“It’s okay, really…, I do want to kiss you all anyways since you’re all my cherished girlfriends.”
Mafuyu did not continue to say anything, but she lowered her head, their eyes meeting each other, then let Kanade plant a kiss on her lips. Afterwards she smiled softly and said, "Thank you, Kanade.”
Kanade returned her smile. “Of course, Mafuyu.”
The air was quite hot by now, especially for tightly wrapped Kanade.
“Now… it’s time for the tickle monster!!” Mizuki, who regained her composure already, suddenly sprung up and pulled everyone down onto the bed.
“Ach-!” “Mizuki!!!” “Be careful.” “Tickle tickle tickle!”
They squirmed and clashed around the bed, and by the time Mizuki tasted her own medicine, they were all out of breath and laid flat on the bed.
“Th-That was *huff* not... fair...!" Mizuki still tried to reason, “You all ganged up on me!”
“That’s *huff* what you get… when you’re the *huff* tickle monster!” Ena weakly yelled back.
After a while, Mizuki wrapped her arm and leg around them. “Well now I’m the cuddle monster," she giggled. "Y'all better give me lots of cuddles now!”
