In the Sea

Summary:

Satoru will eventually come to his senses, and realise that he killed this kid’s dad, and he’s only taking care of him because he will be a great jujutsu sorcerer and an excellent trump card for himself. At least, that’s what he tells himself, as he sits down and pats the kids head.

Or

Work Text:

“The water is really cold.”

“C’mon Megumi-chan, it’ll warm up when you go inside!” Satoru pouts, ankle-deep inside the sea, meanwhile next to him awaits an all-so enthusiastic Megumi to go home.

Since this weekend Tsumiki and her class went on a trip to Osaka, Satoru thought it would be the perfect bonding time for him and the younger Fushiguro sibling. And so, he took him to the beach.

“But why will it get warmer when I go inside?” Megumi tilts his head, his 4 year old brain working oh-so hard. “You’re lying.” Of course.

Satoru laughs. “How mean! You see, after you start swimming the sea will detect that a cold-hearted Fushiguro Megumi has entered, and so it’ll become warm to battle you!” He says very matter-of-factly.

Megumi just shoots him one of his death stares, his favorite anti-Satoru mechanism these days. He sighs, and takes a step forward.

Satoru hums and pretends to think, while actually pushing his shin behind Megumi’s foot and accidentally pushing him in the water. “Whoops! My bad gumi.”

If Satoru wasn’t so concerned about his physical health he would have laughed at Megumi’s betrayed face and half-dripping hair. And then he flinches.

“There’s a fish!” He gawks in awe, staring at the small creature next to him. In all his four-years old awareness, he tries to catch it and fails miserably.

“Fish are very fast Megumi-chan. Even I can’t catch them.” Megumi stares at the fish in the distance, a ghost of a pout appearing on his face.

Eventually, Megumi fully gets inside the water, (without Satoru pushing him) and he flops his feet around, while Satoru makes sure the safety floaties don’t magically defloat. It would be nice if the kid returned whole and alive back to Tokyo.

“Why don’t my feet touch the bottom.” Megumi deadpanned.

“Because you’re short and cute and all so feisty.”

“Yes but they don’t touch it. I’m flying.”

“You mean floating? And it’s because of your super muscles keeping you over the water so you don’t drown.” Satoru explains.

“I don’t have moochles.” Satoru squeezes one of the floaties as in to say: What are these. A gesture to which Megumi rolls his eyes.

“Why don’t you have the moochles?”

Satoru stands up to his full height of six feet, towering over the minature human. “They’re kinda useless for me. You see, if i want to drown i have to actually try to drown.”

They spend a whole fifteen minutes in the water, Satoru yapping about this random Grade One he beat the other day and complaining about how rude Shoko and Nanamin were to him (“They’re right”), when Megumi demands to go back to the shore, since his fingers went all wrinkly.

“Megumi-chan~ wait here~”

Satoru rushes over to their two beach beds, gets this soft towel onesie he bought just for this occasion. (It even has the Divine Doggies~) and goes scoop up the sea urchin from it’s natural habitat.

Except he isn’t there.

Satoru freezes for two whole seconds before he starts to panic. He lost the kid oh my god he lost Megumi- Tsumiki is gonna kill him what was he thinking taking care of two kids and taking one to the beach full of people and danger

And then said missing child taps his leg. “I’m cold.”

Satoru exhales in relief and picks up the mini human, ruffling his slightly wet hair. (Since he didn’t dive his head in the water. Can 4 year olds swim underwater?)

Megumi fixes Satorus bangs, which were covering his eyes. Before said man can start cooing, Megumi demands to be put down. Because he’s a ‘grown boy’ now of course.

———————————

They walk to the nearest village, Satoru’s sweet tooth complaining over the lack of sugar. (He had only one ice cream and iced latte after all…)

“Megumi-chan~ want some ice cream?” Satoru teases.

“Mmh.” He nods in agreement.

Gojo Satoru actually freezes. He turns over to the boy who is wondering why they stopped walking, holding his hand, and stares in shock.

“You want ice cream.”

“Can’t we get some…?” Megumi actually pouts. That’s when Satoru realizes Megumi is tired. Because in what universe where he is in his full energy capacity would he pout or ask for something containing sugar.

“No! No. No, of course we can! Let’s go to this nice lady here hmm?”

Twenty long minutes later, of Satoru insisting the ‘nice lady’ gives Megumi a tester of every flavor and every topping so he can try and choosewhat he wants, even if he is adamant on choosing chocolate and vanilla from the start, they walk out of the shop, one cone in each hand.

Of course, Satoru’s much larger in comparison to Megumi’s.

They walk alongside the tourist shops, Megumi insisting they buy something for Tsumiki, to which Satoru agrees.

They end up settling on a magnet for the fridge, and a small fish plushie for Tsumiki, as well as a sea urchin stuffed animal, since Satoru insists it’s ‘basically Megumi’s incarnation.”

And of course, in any kid tradition, Megumi ends up sleeping on Satoru’s shoulder, his favorite napping spot nowadays.

Satoru will eventually come to his senses, and realise that he killed this kid’s dad, and he’s only taking care of him because he will be a great jujutsu sorcerer and an excellent trump card for himself. At least, that’s what he tells himself, as he sits down and pats the kids head.

————————-

Satoru’s and Megumi’s adventures start and end at the beach, like déja vu. Around Megumi’s bedtime, the two sorcerers sit on a bench up a random rock, staring at the endless blue.

“Let’s go home Megumi-chan~” Satoru whispers to the barely awake Megumi-chan, pats his back twice, and ushers him to the car. Although Satoru can teleport with just his mind and travel kilometres in seconds, Megumi’s toddler stomach cannot handle that. Unfortunately, they found that out way too late.

By the time Ijichi arrives, Megumi fell asleep again and Satoru tries so hard to sit down without waking him up.

He somehow succeeds, and they end up going home.

He will probably need to call Tsumiki later as well..
