Chapter Text
Avid was so tired. He was exhausted, all he wanted to do was go to his room and lay down. But he made a promise to Shelby. As a result he was stuck decorating the castle with the other vampires, more specifically the ballroom. When Avid got turned it already looked spectacular! All they had to do was a few little details.
“Hey Avid,” Waved Shelby from behind him. Avid was working on the back walls, while the others were talking at the blood fountain. He was just finishing up, but his work could wait.
“Yeah?” Avid asked casually. Walking towards the group.
“We were taking about what we did before this, like jobs. Pyro was writing a paper for college, Scott was—you know, Drift was a detective, and me and Owen were unemployed. What about you?” Sweat appeared on his hands even though it shouldn’t have.
It’s fine…it’s fine. Just say it normally and cool, they will never know. Play it cool, play it cool, play it cool.
“I-uh I was an alchemist. Me and my friend… she would uh… go out and fight monsters and I would brew and make the supplies she would need.” Avid spoke nervously. Please don’t ask about her, please don’t ask about her.
“An alchemist? That’s so cool!” Yelled Shelby. Drift nodded and Scott smirked at Avid, shocked a man like Avid would work in potions. Owen started violently at Avid. If stares could kill…. but who said they couldn’t? Thought Avid.
“Th-thanks, I have to get back to work—sorry. Nice talk.” Avid fretted, turning around. It wasn’t until a few hours after, the conversation was brought up again. Avid was rummaging through the chests in his bedroom. His room wasn’t small, but it wasn’t big. It was just perfect for Avid! He never needed much anyway. Being a vampire he needed even less. His room had 3 things. A chest wall, a stool, and a desk. The chest wall faced the right side of the wall, when you walk in. The desk and chair were in the middle of the room. The left side was bare.
People have spoken how for some reason it made them visibly uncomfortable. That it made no sense and they didn’t know why it affected them. It was kinda funny.
“Avid-you busy?” Owen asked.
“No, what do you need?” Avid called back, seeing Owen standing in the door way. His brown hair cascading down his back, and his brown eyes saying more than Owen would ever think.
“Can you tell me more about this women you spoke of?”
Shit.
“W-wh-what women?” Avid stammered. Avid could feel Owen’s eyes barred into him, sending shivers down his spine.
“The women you spoke of that went out and fought monsters.”
I’m in deep shit.
“I’m…” Avid cleared his throat- “still not sure I know who you’re talking about.” He lied. Owen let out a scoff tilting his head, and then walked towards him. He stood right next to Avid, close enough he wouldn’t be able to run or stop Owen if he tried to kill him.
This is fine, this is fine

This is fine, this is fine. Avid thought.
“The one you worked with.” Owen protested, breathing hot air on Avid.
“Ohh, her…” Avid spoke hoping to sound dumb, not like a liar.
“What about her?” Avid questioned nervously, fidgeting with something in a chest.
“What happened to her?” Owen whispered.
“Why, why do you want to know?” Avid deflected. Owen grabbed Avid and turned him around. He leaned Avid against a chest, pushing the tip of his body a little bit over the chest. Enough he was really uncomfortable, but not far enough to actually hurt him—just yet.
Owen’s face straighten in on him, and Avid worried he probably shouldn’t be in an enclosed room with him.
“Why don’t you want to tell me?” Owen challenge, emphasizing his word as he spoke
“Because… it’s sad and it doesn’t matter to anything.” Avid admitted.
“Just leave it please.” Avid whispered. Trying to get out of Owen’s grip and leave the room, but Owen grabbed him harder. His grip firm and strong. Sending a bolt up Avid’s back.
“Avid.” Owen spoke, fear engulfing him. Avid hoped he wouldn’t die, but he knew Owen wouldn’t think twice to hurt him.
“Owen, please. It doesn’t matter.” Avid begged.
“That’s what you think.
