Chapter Text

Red groaned as light shone through her window. God, no matter how much sleep she seemed to get, it just wasn't enough. She turned, surprised to find Chloe still fast asleep beside her. By now, the girl would have usually gone on one of her morning runs through the campus of Auradon. But then it struck her.

The two weren't on campus. Instead of their dorm beads the were pressed against each other on Red’s heart bed.

A long weekend. That's what this was. Chloe’s family had visited Wonderland, giving their mothers an excuse to gather their children at home for a large slumber party.

She turned over, stretching, before gently shaking the sleeping girl beside her.

“Princess?” She watched as the blue-haired girl groaned, eyes fluttering open.

“Hi, Miss Rebel. You're up early.” Red hummed, leaning in for a small kiss.

“It’s past ten charming. The traveling must've left them exhausted. You even forgot your bonnet.”

“Clocks…” Chloe pouted, earning a laugh from her girlfriend.

“You sound like me now. Ive been a bad, bad influence, haven't I.” Chloe rolled her eyes at Red's remark, turning the other way.

“Go back to sleep, troublemaker,” Red smirked, only pressing closer to the girl. Breathe hot against her neck.

“What if I don't want to?” She felt the girl shudder, adding to the teasing by pressing gentle kisses against Chloe’s skin. The girl lets out a quick sigh, turning back to face Red, eyebrows raised.

“Really, Red, here? We're not in our dorms, you know.” Red thought for a moment. Her beautiful, smart, and stunning girlfriend had a point. In this world, they were friends for longer and nothing more. None of their family knew that they had started dating. But looking at Chloe, eyes bright, hair perfectly messy and T-shirt falling off her shoulder… what could go wrong?

“Oh, please, who's gonna walk in. Mom respects my boundaries now. Perks of changing time and all.” Red shrugged, wrapping her arms around the girl. Chloe's eyes darted nervously, hands wrapping around Red's waist.

“Are you sure?” She almost whispers.

“Hey, we never have to do anything if you don't want to. Let’s just go out and eat. Bother Chad and Pin-” Soft lips pressed against hers, and Red couldn't help but melt into the familiar touch. Her body moved impossibly closer, deepening the kiss.

Chloe was the first to pull away, panting gently.

“I want to. But we are out of here in five, okay.”

“I can do a lot in five minutes,” Red smirked, earning a loud laugh from her girlfriend. Before she knew it, she was pushed onto her back, Chloe swiftly climbing over her. It was familiar. It was warm. It was heaven.

Pink danced down the halls, running her hand against every curtain. It was so good to be home. She had missed her mom terribly and, in truth, her siter as well.

Red had changed a lot lately. Auntie Ella said it was teenage hormones, and it did make sense. Red was certainly the edgier sibling. But their first semester in Auradon was supposed to change that.

Instead, Red barely gave Pink the time of day; hell, she avoided her at all costs. If it weren't for Chloe making sure she was included in their daily events, Pink probably wouldn't see her sister at all.

But thankfully, her mother had decided to host one of their small family get-togethers. This would be the perfect time to reconnect with her sister, and take off the stress of the semester.

She finally stopped at the end of the hall, a sign that read do not enter, plastered on. Typical teenagers.

“Red, are you awake?” She called, knocking gently. There was soft shuffling on the other side of the door. She was probably getting dressed or something. She turned on her heel, getting ready to retreat, when a loud bang came from the room, followed by a curse. Pink quickly opened the door, shoving her way in.

“Red, is everything okay- WHAT IN THE JABERWOKY?” Chloe, who had Red pressed against the closet, gasped, quickly pulling away from her clearly disheveled older sister.

“Pink, what the fuck! Do you knock?” Red practically screamed, pulling down her shirt.

“I did, I promise. I heard something fall and-”

“Clocks, GET OUT!” She exclaimed, throwing a hairbrush at the shorter girl. Pink yelped, slamming the door as she ran down the hall, almost tripping down the stairs.

Pink had so many questions. Was red gay? She had always assumed the girl swung both ways, but CHLOE CHARMING. Actually, no, that did make sense despite the Charming girl being so out of Red’s league. Maybe Chloe just liked bad girls? Didn't Red have a fling with Luis? When did THAT become a thing? And worst of all.

Why on earth didn't Red tell Pink? She felt a hurt bubble in her chest as she settled onto the couch. As she sat, unsure of how to proceed or process what she had just seen, Chad walked in.

“Hey, Pinky, why do you look so traumatized?” He asked, chewing on one of her mom's famous bloodberry muffins.

“Cause I am.” Pink groaned, replaying the scene in her head. Chad gave a questioning look before taking a seat next to the younger girl. She turned to Chad, eyes wide as she grasped his shoulder. “Did you know Red and Chloe are dating?” Chad's expression softened as he broke into laughter.

“You didn't know?” Pink looked in horror.

“Um no? You did?” Chad nodded, wiping his eyes.

“Ya, Chloe told me forever ago.” Pink Sunk deeper into the couch. She could just cry!

“Red didn't tell me anything. I don't get why she’d hide it! I'm like the woke-est person alive. And you know what the craziest part is?” She said, turning to Chad with the most deadpan expression.

“What?”

“I think Chloe is the top.”

“As it should be.” Chad nodded, taking another bite of his muffin.

“Chloe is a what?” Both children froze, slowly turning to see Prince Charming, arms crossed at the doorway.

“Dad… hey, buddy.” Chad laughed awkwardly.

“What did you guys just say about my daughter?” He asked, eyes narrowed.

“N-nothing, Uncle Charming.” Pink stuttered.

“No, no, I heard you. Chloe Charming is a top. What does that mean?”

“Um… top of her class?” Chad grinned nervously. Charming did not look convinced.

“Ella, Ella darling, what is a top?” As if this morning couldn't get any worse, Chad and Pink exchanged a glance as they watched their mothers walk in, arms linked and clearly drunk on jabberjuice. It was their sleepover ritual.

Ella and Bridget looked at each other, laughing, as they whispered to the older man, his face dropping immediately.

“Ella, we need to have a Chat with our daughter immediately!”

“Talk to me about what?” Chloe asked, strolling in with Red, clearly on edge. Red glanced over at Pink, raising an eyebrow. Pink could only hide her head in her hands, bracing herself for how this was about to go down. Charming kneeled in front of his daughter, grasping her hands in his own.

“Chloe, darling. I don't care who you date; that's none of my concern.”

“What…”

“I simply want you to be safe. Actions have consequences, you know.” Chloe’s eyes widened pulling away from her father.

“Dad! What are you talking about?”

“Yes, honey, I already gave her the talk. Birds and bees. What's this all about?” Ella added, still too tipsy to piece together what was going on.

“Im not- MOM!” Chloe cried, her whole face burning up.

“Your son and niece were talking-”

“YOU TOLD THEM?” Red shouted, her eyes blazing.

“Told us what?” Bridget asked, confused.

“It hasn't even been five minutes, and you couldn't keep your mouth shut.” She hissed, pointing accusingly at Pink.

“I didn't say a thing, I just was talking to Chad and-”

“Tell us what, Red?” Bridget interrupted. She stepped forward, her eyes knitted in concern. Red growled, turning away.

“Nothing, It’s Nothing.”

“Red-”

“Leave me alone; I said it's nothing!” She shouted, storming down the hall. Bridget and Ella exchanged glances, and Chad muttered a quick apology to Chloe, who was looking back and forth between him and Red.

Red! Pink sprang up from her seat on the couch, following in Red's path. It wasn't long before she found the garden door open, her sister not too far within the bushes. She carefully approached, watching as Red paced back and forth, swinging one of the clubs against the ground.

“Red?” Pink called, approaching carefully.

“What. What on earth do you want?” She hissed, eyes narrowed.

“I'm sorry, Red.” Pink murmurs, kicking the dirt beneath her feet. Red lets out a sour laugh.

“What a load of good that does now.”

“Why didn't you tell me?” Red paused, whipping around to face Pink.

“Since when did I owe you anything?”

“Were you sisters Red, I wouldn't have judged you.”

“Sisters or not, I don't need you prying into my life.” Red's voice began to rise, throwing her stick in a corner.”

“When did you get so mean?” Pink cried; it was her turn to raise her voice. “Ebersinse starting auradon you just-”

“I’m mean? Oh really? Well, you're an idiot. How about that? That's why I don't tell you shit; you just mess everything up.”

“That is so unfair.” Pink glared, tears pricking her eyes. Red groaned, burying her head in her hands.

“My life is confusing enough without you. I don’t need you, Pink. So stop trying to force yourself into my life.” Both girls just stood for a minute, panting, fuming.
“Fine,” Pink muttered, turning away. She blinked away tears, not wanting Red to see her cry.

God, did she fuck up.
