Work Text:

Megumi had never considered Gojo Satoru dying. Not because he was being ignorant but because it was just so incomprehensible.

Gojo Satoru, the world's strongest sorcerer. Someone who made curses run away and others bend to his every whim. Someone whose birth altered the world's balance. The master of the six eyes and limitless techniques.

How could someone like that just die?

But now he was -dead- and Megumi didn't know what to think.

He could admit he didn't always act like he enjoyed Gojo's company, what with him acting like a child half the time. But Gojo was the one who saved Megumi, and his sister Tsumiki. Gojo was the one who raised him, funded his education and shielded him from the darker parts of the jujutsu world. He was annoying and nosy, but he was there. A constant, a safety net, a law of nature. Now, that safety net was shredded to pieces. The world felt loud and cold and open. Memories echoes in his mimd, sharp and uninvited. He couod almost hear Gojo's voice. Gojo had always been too loud, too bright. Megumi used to crave moments of quiet. Now, he would give anything to have that noise back. A deep hollow ache began to bloom in his chest. It wasn't a sudden explosive break down in tears type of grief. But it was slow and paralyzing, like he was breathing in air filled with glass. Megumi unclasped his hands, letting them fall limp against his arms. The room remained completely still, offering no answers, no comfort and no magical reversal of the truth. Gojo Satoru was dead.
