'It was so cold, so lonely...'
'Father and dad tried to get rid of me, to destroy me, and now they're gone...'
'It doesn't make sense. They tried to delete me from the world, to act as if I never existed, and yet I long for them. I want their arms wrapped around me, enveloping me in warmth, in safety, in love. But I know that will never happen. After all, dad is back in the real world, and father has moved on to helping others as a Walmart helper. I'm all alone...'
Suddenly, Freakity felt warmth enveloping his form all sides, two pairs of arms wrapping around him, two bodies pressed against him. It felt so welcoming, so apologetic, so soft, so much like... home.
Verity hugged him tighter of the two, apologising over and over about how sorry he was that he called him annoying, that he didn't act like the parent he needed, that he completely abandoned him with zero regard for him.
Lookout was quieter, but he hugged Freakity like he was the most precious thing in the world, soft, delicate, like he'd shatter if hugged too tight. His eyes held remorse like no other, guilt as enveloping as the ocean.
Freakity stood stunned as everything overwhelmed his systems before finally breaking down right their in their parents arms. His parents caught him, going down to the floor with him and whispering sweet nothings of them finally staying, of them being there for him.
'I'm sorry.' Freakity thought as his body wracked with sobs he couldn't contain, 'I'll be better. I won't be annoying anymore, I won't be a nuisance, I will be as quiet as you want me to be, just please... love me, dont leave me alone in the cold again.'
Freakity passed out from exhaustion right there on the floor, and Verity and Lookout took him to his bed. They tucked him in and each gave a kiss full of sweet love on Freakity's forehead and were about to leave, when something gripped their arms. They looked back, and saw Freakity looking up at them with such terror, such fear of being alone again, their hearts shattered like glass. They stayed in his room that night. Together. Whole. As a family should be.
They won't be perfect parents, hell, they'll have a long way before they're called good parents, but they knew one thing for certain.
They weren't leaving Freakity alone again.
