Chapter Text
Etheria’s stars shimmered brightly in the dark moonlight, and the tranquil sound of nighttime animals and running water made Adora feel almost at peace. Almost. The panic of the battlefield still haunted her nervous system, making her heart run quickly and her breath fall short. But, as she felt the grass under her fingers, her breath slowed and the world came back into focus. These days, it was easy to slip into panic unprovoked, even though the battle had passed. Thankfully. She had escaped from Brightmoon temporarily to have some time on her own. Being Shera came with it’s perks, but especially since saving the world, the chores were relentless. Escaping for a couple of hours couldn’t do any harm. She would’ve asked Swift Wind to go flying, but his singing and constant chatter would be the opposite of the calming nature she has surrounded herself with.
It has been 2 weeks since the battle. Resources are low, but nature has weaved itself back into the fabric of Etheria, which has significantly raised the kingdom's morale, and everyone is more than happy to work together to fix their homes. They had planned to leave the planet straight away, but the Princess Council recommended them to stay and help spread the word of peace? The whole matter was surprisingly uninteresting to Adora, who just needed the chance to really process the past couple of weeks. Or months? The dates all blended together and made her head swim. Questions jumped out at her: What will happen to the Horde settlement? How many lives were lost? How many planets are still occupied out there in space?
Not even mentioning Catra!
Adora’s heart jolts after thinking of her… girlfriend? Her stomach does a flip.
Wow, we’re really girlfriends!!! She loves me! And I love her! I can’t believe… that did happen right?
Catra’s kiss still lingers on her lips, and that is enough to know the truth. Through all of the confusion, hatred, and war, their bond has continued. Although she needed a break, she probably should’ve talked to Catra. Since the battle, they have hardly had time to look at each other, let alone discuss their… relationship. Especially since growing up in the Horde, heartfelt conversations weren’t really a part of training. To Adora, even watching Glimmer and Bow argue with each other and still find away back together again seems alien. Even stranger now that they are together! Shock finds it’s way to Adora’s face. She hadn’t expected them to be together! I mean, she knew they were close, but…
I suppose I can’t be surprised considering that I had only realised Catra…loved me back until she saved me. Not very shocking that I didn’t realise sooner.
Adora chuckles to herself. Growing up in the Horde did really set her far back socially.
Before she can continue daydreaming about Catra, the forest roars in an animalistic outcry.
What the hell was that?
