Operation Swoon

Summary:

A scientific study is published, revealing that someone is 0.9% less likely to bring about the end of the world for every person they go on a date with.

With seemingly no other way in sight to stop the impending roaring, the heroes choose you to be the one to utilize this in their favor.

You know what you have to do. But do you have the strength to do it?

Chapter 1: Cooked

Summary:

Sacrificing your friend for a slim chance at appeasing a scary evil being! It's quick, easy, and fun for the whole friend group! And best of all, it's completely free!

This chapter is more serious and unfunny for the most part, I'll try to make future chapters have more funnies

Notes:

At furst, it was just like any other regular day in castle town.

When Susie shared the discovery, you didn't think much of it. Just wondered how anyone found that out.

When Ralsei mentioned getting someone to use this against the knight, you didn't think he was serious.

And when they started discussing who could do it.. you didn't expect them to turn to you.

Chapter Text

"A-ARE YOU CRAZY?!" You stood up quickly in shock, your chair being pushed backwards in the process. "Surely you're kidding? Right?!"

Ralsei approached you with a look of sadness. "Listen, I know it's dangerous, but we've tried everything else! If we don't do anything, then everyone will die when the roaring happens!"

"Yeah yeah I know we have to save the world and all, but seriously? A date? In what plane of existence would THE KNIGHT of all people be open to a date??????"

"I mean, with you?" Susie leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. "The knight's a chud. So are you. Perfect match."

"U-um, yes, indeed, y/n! You are castle town's resident 'chud'! We all believe in you!"

Well, seems like Ralsei's a bit confused, but he's got the spirit.

You were running out of ways to try arguing back. You looked over at Kris in hopes they could rescue you, but they seemed completely unaware of the conversation, as they sat on the floor on the other side of the room, taking a fork to a large clump of moss that had grown in the corner.

You turned back to Ralsei, panicked. "Please, guys, reconsider! There HAS to be something else we can do! Anything but setting me up on a date with the roaring knight!"

"I mean I guess we could make spamton do it instea-"

"Oh, we won't be setting you up, that'd be more likely to make them suspicious!" Ralsei interrupted susie, fortunately for spamton. "We can help you lure them to your location, but other than that, you're on your own. Sorry.."

"What 😃"

You kept trying to change their minds. But you failed. There was simply no way to for you to weasel your way out of this situation.

So now here you stood, in the middle of nowhere, all alone in an unfamiliar dark world, dressed in your favorite outfit, all while standing there like an idiot.

Every microsecond felt like a century and was somehow even scarier when the last. You were told Kris had found a way to get the knight to show up here, so all you had to do was wait.

All you wanted was for someone else to magically show up and save you. Heck, you would've been overjoyed to see even berdly of all people. Surely someone would happen to stumble upon you, right?

But when you saw the all too familiar dark and ominous figure on the horizon rapidly approaching your location, you lost all hope.

Well, this is it.

Your final moments alive.

"H-hello there.." you said, your life already flashing before your eyes. "Listen, I, I'm not here to fight, a-alright?"

As your hand instinctively reached for your weapon, it took everything to not grab it and defend yourself. But you forced yourself to simply throw it far away to the side just to prove your point.

The knight didn't know if this was supposed to be a trap or not, but it knew it could handle whatever tricks you could've had up your sleeve, so it readied its sword and prepared to strike you.

You had to make your move NOW.

"W-WAIT!!" You quickly reached for the bouquet of flowers you had brought with you, and held it out to the knight. "I JUST WANTED TO ASK YOU!! Would you- um- i-is there any chance you'd- maybe uhh, like.. g.. g-go out with me..?" You somehow blurted out in time.

Oh boy. You certainly wouldn't appreciate if THOSE were gonna be your last words.

The knight almost dropped its sword in surprise. It was prepared to fight you and everyone you know a million times over and then some, but even it couldn't have predicted.. well, this.

It slowly started floating closer to you.

When it was about two feet away from you, it simply stopped and stared at the flowers, then at you, trying to figure out whether or not you were being serious.

It was so tall. Almost twice your height. Even scarier, it was so close. Your heart was racing.. surely just out of fear, right?

Every cell in your body was begging you to back away, but you stayed out, once again disobeying your own basic survival instincts.

As it stared at you, you tried to return the favor and look it in the, uh.. whatever would be its equivalent of eyes. But even you couldn't stop yourself from looking away, as trying to keep "eye" contact with it made your head spin.

"It's.. it's okay if you.. don't want to.." You said, shaking and paralyzed from fear. It didn't say anything. Not that you were expecting it to reply. You felt silly for trying to talk with it.

"AHH!!" Without warning, it swiped the flowers out of your hand to inspect them. You yelped and flinched at its sudden movement.

But you tried to pretend to regain your composure. (You weren't very convincing)

It didn't understand. Why were you doing this? Why would you ask it out, especially when you're so visibly terrified of it? Is this just a prank?

Just to see what you'd do, it held its hand out towards you.

You gasped and stared at its hand in utter shock. You thought they were gonna kill you on sight, not whatever this is! What the heck is happening??

Your mind was completely and utterly fried now. You shakily reached out and took its hand.

You were petrified. You could hardly breathe, and your whole body was trembling. But even so, there was something exhilarating about holding their hand in yours.

Guess you really weren't joking after all. Not that its complaining, of course. It'll gladly take a free henchman.

Before you had a chance to react, it suddenly picked you up and started flying away, whisking you off to wherever, presumably with the rest of its previous victims.

You screamed, still hoping someone could magically show up, swoop in, and save you. But nobody came. So you just held onto it for dear life as it kidnapped you.

Oh well. I guess going to the sjelter is better than dying..? Hopefully?
