He urges her to take a break which leads to a far more heated fight than anything they'd previously had in which things are said and done that can't be taken back.

Pharloom is freed from the haunting, and now Lace and Hornet are left to decide what they wish to do with their lives going forwards. They make their way though the wreckage of the kingdom once so holy all the way up to the surface where Lace must decide whether she will leave everything behind, stepping out into the cold unknown of the barren wastelands or remain living beneath her Mother's shadow and face what has become of this place she had never before dared call home. Though, should she decide to stay, she wouldn't be alone this time.

However, Lace's past continues to haunt her, unable to let go of what has happened. But even more than that, she has developed a strong sense of survivor's guilt around her sibling's fate.

It’s no secret that Lace’s relationship with her god-mother is strained, to put it lightly. As an eternal child and a silken golem, she’s bound to her Grand Mother, and privy to her thoughts. Her criticisms, her praise, her commands, everything plucks through her threads unrestricted. Lace would give anything to silence the strings and free herself from her fading half-life. She won’t complain if it also hurts the sleeping god she calls mother.
