The fan creates a buzzing noise as Steph watches the blades spin. Pins and needles start tingling up her arm from where it's trapped under Cass. She can tell she's still awake, still not wound down from patrol, still Steph doesn't push her off. She blew hair from her eyes, the alarm clock on the nightstand informs her that she only has two hours before she needs to be up for her lecture.
Cass shifts so her face is in front of Steph's, her eyes opened just a sliver. "Hey," she says. "Do you want to know a secret?"
"What?" she asks, curious about what it could be. In their line of work secrets where sometime necessary, but Cass had said it lightheartedly so Steph wasn't sure what it would be. Probably nothing drastic.
"I love you."
Steph giggles. "Do you wanna know a secret?"
"Yes."
"I love you too."
