Chapter Text
Peter typically has to drag himself out of bed, but it’s especially hard to get up on Mondays, unarguably the worst day of the week. He’d gotten dressed with his eyes half open, fumbling blindly through his closet for one of Harley’s hoodies and some jeans. He then stumbled, only partly conscious, to the kitchen for coffee- and breakfast, definitely breakfast, he’s starving.
“Jesus Christ on a stick! Did you get dressed in the dark, Underoos?” A surprised voice questioned, Peter identifies the source as Tony; who is standing behind the counter, sipping his morning coffee from a Captain America mug.
“Oh hardy har har.” He grumbled out in response, snatching the coffee from his dad, who lets out a noise of protest. After sipping on the coffee for a moment Peter hands it back, looking down at himself…okay, Tony was right, he is wearing purple jeans. “Oh-…oh my.” He mumbles to himself and scurries off to his room to change again, huffing softly at the sounds of Tony snickering into his mug.
When he returns to the kitchen, he finds a plate of toast waiting for him, courtesy of Steve. Who he hadn’t even noticed was in the kitchen before and who was also wearing a horrific apron.

He was late getting out to the car, as always. Happy grumbled something in the front seat, probably about Peter “wasting his time”, but he drove off to deliver him to school regardless. It was an unspoken rule between Happy and Peter that they exchanged as few words as possible in the mornings. Neither of them liked being up this early.
Peter sat on his phone for the majority of the drive, maybe—just maybe—he was becoming a bit too much like Tony, being late didn’t phase him anymore. In fact, it was expected of Peter to be at least a couple minutes late every morning. Luckily, his homeroom teacher, Mr. Harrington, was nice enough, he didn’t mark him late if he got to class within 10 minutes of the bell having rung. Small victories.
Before he knew it they were in front of the school, Peter sighed and opened the door, sliding out the car. He mumbled a quiet, “Thanks, Hap.” to Happy before shutting the car door and heading up to the school; digging around in his bag for some sunglasses. He procured a pair just as he made it inside, the fluorescent lights always killed his eyes in the morning.
After going to his locker, Peter hurried along to class, he was really pushing it with the time this morning. Exactly 10 minutes late, he came into homeroom and quickly headed to his seat, without looking up from the floor he slid into the chair beside Ned. “Do you even try to make it on time anymore?” A voice hissed from behind him, MJ. At the same time, Ned cheerfully greeted him with a “Good morning!”
“Nope,” Peter replied, shaking his head, “morning Ned.” He tacked on, pushing his sunglasses up to violently paw at his eyes. MJ nudged his shoulder, rather aggressively, he turned to look at her, frowning. “What was that for?”
She shook a can of Redbull in front of his face and Peter instantly lit up, “Oh my god, thank you. I could kiss you.” he took the can, cracking it open and pretty much chugging 60% of it.
“Gross, please do not.”
“I wasn’t being literal.”

During lunch the trio gathered at their usual table in the far left corner of the cafeteria. Peter was somewhat conscious by now, managing to hold some basic conversation. “So,” MJ began, poking around her salad with her fork. “You guys excited?”
Ned practically vibrated beside Peter. “Yes! This is like THE best part of my year- maybe even my life!”
“Hold on, I feel out of the loop.” Peter chimed in, just barely cutting off Ned’s sentence. He raised a brow behind his too-expensive-for-the-‘broke’-kid sunglasses, he’d definitely accidentally taken these from Tony. “What are we excited about exactly?”
“You weren’t paying attention?” Ned asked, looking over at him.
“Clearly not,” MJ answered for Peter, who just shrugged. He’s has totally picked up too many Tony mannerisms, although, he couldn’t seem to make himself care. Maybe that’s just another mannerism he had developed. “We’re going on a field trip, on Friday.” MJ finally explained, taking a bite of her lunch.
“Oh, where to?” Peter inquired, that could actually be kinda fun, pending upon where. He had finished his Redbull a while ago and was feigning for a second one…if he asked dad to bring him one, would he? Who’s he kidding, yes he would. Tony would probably buy the Redbull company itself for Peter if he asked nicely enough.
“Stark Industries!” Ned answered before MJ could, Peter eyebrows practically hit his hairline as he dropped his phone of the table with an, all too loud, clatter which drew some attention to them. Normally Peter would be embarrassed but he was already too aghast to care.
“Come again?”
“Field trip, Stark Industries.” MJ said, smirking. She enjoyed people’s crisis far too much. Peter buried his head in his hands. “What? Not excited?”
“I literally live there…also, this is horrible,” He whines slumping against the table, picking his phone back up. Whatever bits of Tony Stark in Peter’s personality were gone just like that, poof. A overcast of anxiety took over completely. “Flash is going to embarrass me in front of my entire family.”
“No he won’t, you’ll be fine, Mr. Dramatic.” MJ claimed, at the same time Ned said, “Oh, come on! Don’t be like that, it’ll be fun!” Peter just groaned, getting up from the table to get away from the noise as he FaceTimed Tony.
“Be right back, I’m calling my dad.” He mumbled, slinking away. He could practically feel his heart in his throat, if he didn’t take a few deep breaths like he had as he walked out the cafeteria, he probably would’ve had a panic attack.
Once Peter had made it into the hallway, conveniently at the moment Tony had answered his call. “Hey, you alright?” The voice on the other end greeted, it wasn’t normal for Peter to call him during the school day but it also wasn’t uncommon.
“Yeah- well no, but, yeah…okay, two things.”
“What’s up?”
“One, I desperately need a Redbull, pleasseeee say you can bring me one.” Peter pleads, leaning against the wall beside the door, feeling the chill of the surface seep to his back through his sweater.
“Sure, what’s two?” Tony responded a moment later, his face half in frame. The phone must have been propped up on a water bottle or something, Peter could see him working on what looked like a repulsor.
“Two is a bit more complicated,”
“You’re not hurt are you? It was that little snobby asshole, wasn’t it? Fetch? What’s his name?-“ Tony began a slightly irritated rant, his face now fully in the camera frame, but Peter cut him off.
“Dad- no. I’m fine, this is more of a…mental distress?” Peter tried to find the words to describe his situation. “Okay, so basically, I have a field trip on Friday…but, it’s to Stark Industries.” Tony burst into a fit of laughter on the other end of the call.
“Seriously?!”
“Yes-! Dad, stop laughing!” Peter whined, dragging a hand down his face before readjusting his sunglasses. “Flash is gonna find some way to make me look awful in front of everyone and I-,” he paused for a moment, sighing. “I just really don’t wanna deal with that.”
“Woah woah woah, pump the breaks, bambino. Are those my sunglasses?” Tony asked, leaning closer the his phone and squinting.
Peter aimed the camera at the ceiling of the hallway instead of his face. “Would you believe me if I said no?”
“No, no I would not. But, it’s fine because I love you, I’ll bring you your Redbull and we can talk about the other thing when you get home. Okay? Sound good?”
“Yeah…thanks.”
