Chapter Text
Chloe was 13 years old, when she watched her life implode right in front of her.
She was 13 when she found out the horrible truth about her mother.
She was 13 when she, her mother, father and brother were sent off to the isle.
Chloe remembered that day like it was yesterday.
_____
Chloe awoke at around 7:00 in the morning. It was a beautiful summer day, the sun beamed through the curtains of Chloe's room, lighting the dim room. Chloe slowly sat up in her queen sized bed, stretching her arms in the process.
It was Saturday so her private tutor wouldn't be coming over. Her mother doesn't allow her or Chad to leave the castle grounds for some odd reason. Her mother and father tell her she'll find out someday. Though, she wonders when that’ll be.
After a moment of letting her eyes adjust, she stood up and walked over to her closet that held all her clothing, and shoes. She opened the door to her walk-in-closet, and started looking for an outfit.
It took her a few moments but she finally was able to settle on an outfit. She added a necklace and a few bracelets she deemed as cute. And she put on some blue-greyish gem covered boots. Luckily her skirt has pockets meaning she could carry around her phone.
She grabbed her phone and placed it into her pocket before heading to her bathroom to brush her teeth.
Her mother wasn't going to be at the palace for most of the day, apparently she had something important to do along with her father. Other than all the maids and guards it was just her and her brother home.
She quickly finished brushing her teeth. She then went on to do her hair. She had already done her hair and makeup all on her own after getting dressed so there really wasn't much else for her to do at the moment, except eat breakfast of course.
She exited her bathroom and headed downstairs. She made her way down the hall passing the kitchen on the way. The smell of freshly cut fruit and toast made her stomach rumble. She soon reached the dining room where her brother was already sitting. She took the seat right across from him.
They sat in comfortable silence until the food was brought out by a maid. They were served avocado toast with fresh fruit and eggs as a side. They were also given their favorite type of juice for a drink.
Once they both finished eating, a guard came over and told them that their parents were going to need to bring them to one of their meetings around lunch. The meeting would take place in Auradon.
Chloe was a little confused yet excited! She never got to actually leave castle grounds. Let alone go to another kingdom. She glanced over at Chad who seemed to be thinking and feeling the same thing.
The guard excused herself before stepping out of the room. Her and Chad waited for the footsteps to fade before turning back to each other.
“What do you think that was about?” Chloe asked her brother, to which he shrugged.
“i have no idea.” he replied. Chloe thought for a moment before an idea popped up in her head.
“Hey, maybe, they finally united our kingdom with Auradon?” Chloe questioned. “I mean we are like the only ones not united with them.” their kingdom used to be united but after her parents graduated merlin academy – which is now called auradon prep – they ran away to her fathers kingdom, got married, and somehow un-united themselves from auradon.
“Yea, that would make sense.” Chad nodded. They decided to leave that conversation at that. They would figure out what the meeting was about later. For now they had their own routines to fill out.
Chloe had fencing practice with her father at 9:30-10:30. Though, she was pretty convinced that it would be cut short due to the meeting. She was afraid that they wouldn't be able to do it at all, because of the meeting. Other than those two things, she really had other things to do. Maybe after the meeting, she'd go read out in their flower garden.
She loved hearing the sound of bird chirps as she enjoyed a nice book. Her favorite genre was sweet romance. She hardly could understand those who read horror. But that was their taste and this was hers.
She smiled to herself thinking of the romance novel she was currently reading as she made her way up to her room. It was currently around 8:30. Her parents should be home any minute.
Despite being so close with her parents she had no clue of what they did all day. All she knew is that they were busy, but loving, and caring parents. She loved baking with her mother, and she loved fencing with her father. On Fridays they would have movie nights, which Chloe always looked forward to. Her and Chad usually would play board games together on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Even though she loved her parents, she never could understand most of their decisions. She mainly took that as they just wanted to protect her and her brother.
She finally stopped outside her door, slowly opening it and entering. She walked over to her bed and was met with her fencing gear layer out on her bed.
She was just about to get changed when she heard a knock at her bedroom door. She walked over to the door and opened it slightly to check who it was. When she noticed it was her father she stepped out of the room.
“Hey, hon. I'm sorry but we won't be able to fence today. It takes a while to get to where the meeting is being held from here, so we won't have time.” Her father said the moment she walked out of her room. Chloe felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She really looks forward to fencing, she's only been at it for about 1 year now, and she has grown to adore it.
well it didn't matter if they missed just one day, she has practice tomorrow anyways. She smiled at her father.
“It's alright, we can practice tomorrow though, right?” She asked. Her father nodded before speaking again.
“Yes. Though we have to tell you, and you're brother, what the meeting is about.” He stated, before continuing. “Let's head down to the dining room.” Chloe nodded.
Her father led her downstairs and towards the dining room where her mother and brother had already been seated. Chloe took a seat next to her brother, whilst her father took a seat next to her mother who sat across from them.
“So, you two already know that you both are invited to one of our meetings. Correct” her father asked, to which her and Chad both nodded. Her father then continued. “We have decided to once again unite with Auradon. And the King has requested we bring you along with.”
Chloe felt as if she was on top of the world. Being united with auradon means she gets to attend auradon prep once she comes of that age. That's been something she's been wanting for years!
“We will be living here shortly, so go get yourself ready.” Her mother said, excusing them from the table. Chloe left the dining room and went up to her room to wait until they had to leave, which would be in about 20-ish minutes. She wasn't too sure.
At least 15 minutes had passed before she got called down stairs. She practically flew down the stairs, she sped walked down the halls until she reached the castle's doors, where her parents awaited. They had to wait a moment for Chad.
Chad arrived after what felt like ages, even though it had been at least a minute.
They stepped outside and made their way to the limousine. Her mother sat in the back with her and Chad, whilst her dad sat upfront with their chauffeur.
Much to Chloe's dismay the windows on the inside of the vehicle were completely black. Meaning she couldn't look outside. Outside where her kingdom was. She sighed as they pulled out away from the palace.
The ride to Auradon was slow and boring. The inside of the limo was fancy, and extremely comfortable, but that doesn't mean that it was fun. She was half asleep by the time they arrived at the king's castle.
They hopped out of the limousine, and were led into the king's office by some of his guards. The king's castle was much fancier than the one she lived in. Chole was mesmerized by this place. She knew she was rich, but holy cow the king and queen of auradon were rich RICH!
The guard stopped outside 2 large doors, and knocked. A voice from inside said “come in” the guard opened the door and allowed them to enter. The moment Chloe entered, the first thing she noticed was how gorgeous queen belle was. She's obviously seen her on TV, but she was even prettier in person!
The King walked over to her parents and shook their hands. The king started discussing paper work, and stuff her parents needed to sign for them to unite.
The King walked over to his desk and started to grab a few papers. He pushed those to the desks end, along with a pen. Chloe watched as the king sat back down and started working on something.
The room was silent other than the sound of pens scratching paper. It was a long while before her parents gave the papers back to the king. He looked at each paper making sure it was all signed.
The king sighed. “Guards.”
A beat.
Suddenly four guards grabbed hold of them. Her father pushed the guard off of him and spoke. “Wait, what's going on?” The guard still had a hold of her, Chad, and her mother. They weren't acting on anything, though.
“Didn't you read what was on the papers? It said all villains from your kingdom get sent to the isle.” the king stated like it was obvious. but Chloe was confused. This didn't make any sense!
“But, we're not villains.” Her father replied. The king blinked.
“Yes you are. You and your wife hold public beheadings, you have every single person in your kingdom walking on egg shells, and you and your wife tried destroying Auradon. Seems pretty villainous to me.” The king took a breath. “guards cuff all four of them, send them off to the isle.”
They were grabbed onto by another guard, they were then cuffed and forced out of the castle. They were shoved into a different limousine, where guards kept hold of them. Chloe understood right then and there why she could never leave the castle grounds. It was like missing pieces of a puzzle being found and put into place.
She's a VK.
Her parents are evil.
She was never a HK like she had thought.
She was getting thrown into a horribly disgusting place with a bunch of criminals and their children. Except she's just like them. It just took her longer to figure that part out. She would be living in poverty, where she had to wear rags or leather, and steal to survive.
from the second they had arrived they were taken out of the vehicle. They were un-cuffed, and left there to rot. She watched as the limo left, on that golden magic bridge. She didn't really feel upset, she felt.. empty.
Hollow and empty.
her life was a joke. She spent her whole life, believing that she knew who her parents were. She grew up admiring them, looking up to them, just for her to get a big, fat reality check. She's now living amongst those she spent her life fearing. No, she has been living amongst the people she feared.. she just didn't know until now. Silent, emotionless tears rolled down her cheeks and onto the ground.
She felt everyone's eyes upon her, her family. And she didn't even blame them. She'd be confused if royalty randomly got dumped into a closed island full of villains.
She walked over to where her parents and her brother stood.
“What now?” she asked, wiping tears off her face. Her mother looked at her.
“We'll find a place to stay. You guys go explore. Don't go too far.” Her mother stated before grabbing onto her fathers hand, and walking away.
Chloe and Chad watched them disappear into an alleyway. Not really knowing what to do.
“Hey, I'm gonna go explore if you wanna come.” Chad spoke. Chloe looked at him, she thought for a few minutes before replying.
“no thank you. I'd rather wait around for them.” she said, looking down at her feet.
“Alright then. Be careful.”
“you too.” she simply replied. She then watched him walk away. She was all Alone now, surrounded by a bunch of villains, and their kids not knowing what'll happen. She was pretty scared to say the least. After a moment the whispers came to a stop, and people glanced away.
And just as she finally thought she was in the clear she felt something touch her shoulder. Someone touched her shoulder. She froze, not knowing what to do. Suddenly someone appeared in front of her. A girl around her age with brown curly hair, and she was holding a hook in her right hand..
Holy fucking shit..
Captain Hook's daughter is standing right in front of her.
“What's a princess doing here?” She asked, half joking, half serious. Chloe laughed nervously. She then saw someone walk up to Hazel taking a place on her right side.
“I'm not a princess.” Chloe replied. She wasn't. Not anymore. Villains don't get to have royal status, neither do their kids. She lost that title the moment she got booted here.
“Then what are you? a normal civilian passing by?” the guy next to her joked. Before Chloe could speak, another guy came up from behind her.
“Is it true Chad's adopted?” The guy that came from behind her asked, taking his place on the left side of Hook's daughter.
“I don't know. Can you guys just leave me alone?” Chloe asked, annoyed at them. Annoyed at this whole situation.
“We could, but this is just too funny.” Hook's daughter laughed out. “Seriously though, what is Cinderella's daughter doing here? Is the queen herself here too?” The two guys beside her chuckled.
“Who even are you guys?” Chloe asked. The two guys looked at the girl, then at each other, then back at Chloe.
“I'm Hazel, Captain Hook's daughter.” the girl – Hazel – spoke. “this guy” she pointed to her left “is Max, he's Maddox's son. And the guy on my right is Felix Facilier, Dr.Facilier's son.”
“I'm Chloe, Cinderella's daughter.”
“We know.” Hazel said.
“Hey, you know, I like your phone case.” Max said, smirking while pulling out her phone from behind his back. Dread washed over her body. How did he get that??
“How did you get that?” She asked calmly, even though she was internally screaming.
“If you're going to pick-pocket a rich girl, try getting something actually worth something.” Hazel started grabbing her phone from Max's Hands. “This isn't worth shit here.” she finished before tossing the phone back at him.
“Whatever, what do we do? Just give it back?” Max asked Hazel, Hazel shook her head.
“No, let's throw it into the water or something.” Hazel joked. Hazel glanced at Max and then at Felix before making a run for it.
“HEY!!” Chloe shouted before chasing after them.
She ran after them, not knowing where these roads and alleyways led to. Eventually, the 3 VKS stopped and they looked over to Chloe.
Chloe was taking in the scenery, there was a pirate ship right in front of her with water surrounding the area. As of now they were on a dock, thing? She didn't know what this was called. It took her a moment to snap out of it. She ran over to the three but by the time she was where they were it was too late. They had just dropped her phone straight into the water.
Chloe just stood there for a while, looking at the water. The VKS had already left. Chloe sighed defeated, before walking away. She almost got lost on her way back to the front street but she made it back. Luckily before her parents made it back, her brother was sitting around the area she was at before those jerks came over.
She approached him. Neither one of them spoke until their parents found their way to them. They Told them they had found shelter, and to follow them. Which they did.
The place was crappy, and filled with old rags. It was unclaimed, and it looked like it hadn't been touched in years.
Guess they found their new home!
Yay.
_____
It has been a little over three years since then. And a lot has changed.
