Summary
Eugene burst in, panting, “We need to have a brother to brother conversation!”
Varian died a little inside. The last ‘brother to brother’ conversation they had was about why holding hands doesn’t lead to babies and other ways to get them.
Eugene closed the door, waltzing in. Like usual, he kept trying to touch the various experiments Varian had going, leading to his hand being slapped away about ten times before he spoke, “Did you see your mail?”
“No actually, I don’t read it,” Varian sighed, choosing to go back to his experiment. Now this was interesting, trying to see if he could use cobalt in the next firework show—
Eugene thrust five envelopes into his hand, each with a different nations crest on it, “Can you start reading your mail now?”
Varian groaned, but obliged, tearing each of them open. What a mistake.
They were all letters about suitors wanting to court him.
Now he was really going to be sick.
…
Varian spends an evening desperately trying to avoid being courted.
Instead, he falls for the first person who asks him about cobalt.

Day three: “Dance”
Varian has never been one for parties. Casual celebrations and festivals sure, but any event that might require him to dress up in stiff, formal clothing and politely mingle with people he either doesn't know or even like makes him want to lock himself in his lab and not show his face until the day after.
But when he meets someone new, a mysterious stranger who hides behind a mask, he might find his opinions changed.

Summary
Varian looks up and raises his goggles to glare at his boyfriend, who smiles back sheepishly.
“Er, sorry,” he says. “But! I’m mad at you!”
Varian rolls his eyes as Ruddiger drags over the dustpan they keep in the corner of the lab. Explosions and mishaps happen all the time, so it’s no surprise that Hugo is hardly deterred by the mess he’s caused.
“Oh really,” Varian deadpans, used to his boyfriend’s dramatics. “And what, pray tell, did I do this time?”
Hugo strides further into the room as Varian gathers up the shards of glass. “You didn’t tell me there’s a whole holiday for mothers!”
