Now I’m Just Like You

Summary:

I saw a picture of John where it really looked like he was trying to dress up as Yoko, and I thought it was really cute, so I wrote this

Work Text:

John was laying down in bed, snuggled against his wonderful wife, Yoko. She was sitting up, petting his hair just the way he liked while he rested his head in her lap. She brushed her fingers through his locks, scratching lightly every so often, adding a nice tingling feeling to the pleasurable sensation.

He really was in heaven these days, he reflected with a sigh. Heaven on Earth, wasn’t that a nice thought?

Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. Well, it wasn’t so sudden, really, he’d only just felt like acting on it now. It was more of a frequently fleeting thought, finally taking up permanent residence in his brain.

“Dear?” He called softly, not wanting to break the calm mood too abruptly.

“Yes, John?”

Yoko tugged at his hair then, making him shiver so hard that he had to take a moment to remember what he’d even meant to ask in the first place.

“Mm, was thinking,” he started, a bit shyly. “You’re always so gorgeous. Your clothes are nice.”

She hummed in acknowledgment, waiting for him to get to his main point.

“Could I maybe…try on some? Not sure if they’ll fit considering I’m, well-“ He trailed off before Yoko turned his head, drawing his gaze to her.

She looked at him like she knew what he’d meant to say all along. She probably did, Yoko was amazing like that.

“Of course you can.”

John went with something simple to start, a black tank top with similarly dark shorts. He frowned at himself in the mirror, he didn’t look nearly as good as Yoko did in them. Probably the lack of tits, he decided. Not like that was changing anytime soon though. John was oddly disappointed about that, but he just shook his head, not wanting to dwell on it.

This was a bad start, he thought, looking back at Yoko for her opinion. She was looking at his reflection instead of him, humming before smiling.

“Another?” She eventually said.

John agreed.

Yoko had decided to join him for this one, wearing an outfit to match whichever one he picked out. He went for a black jumpsuit she owned,  pulling it on and letting Yoko zip it up in the back. He felt a little like a bird, having her boyfriend help her get ready.

He wasn’t sure how that made him feel, but it wasn’t bad, he admitted to himself. He didn’t bother to look in the mirror just yet, sitting on the edge of their bed as he reverently watched Yoko change clothes.

The button up she chose was his, but the pants were her own. Both black to match him, her dark hair seeming to fade into the fabric. A lot of her clothes were darker in color, making her seem like she was all silhouette, especially in photos.

John sighed dreamily, allowing himself to stare a bit longer before he actually went to look at himself. He stood, finally taking himself in. The girl feeling came back, he really did look weirdly feminine in this outfit. He was a bit skinnier than he was in the past, hair longer too, he thought as he fiddled with it, before stopping when he realized that was only proving his point.

Yoko coming to stand beside him only accentuated the feeling. He was quite a bit taller than her, but the way she presented herself -always holding her head high, unlike him with all his hunching over- made it feel like the roles were reversed. He squinted into the mirror, trying to figure out if that was good or bad.

Looking over at his partner gave him his answer. Yoko’s wife, huh? Suddenly he couldn’t think of a better thing to be. He let his mind drift, imagining being paraded around, just a pretty thing to hang off of her arm, everyone deferring to her at first instead of him. It sounded ridiculous until he connected it to Yoko. Everything felt right with her.

He wasn’t sure what to do with this feeling, but Yoko did, like always. She slotted into his side, bringing her hand up to firmly hold John’s waist.

“You are very pretty,” Yoko stated, like it was a known fact.

John nearly swooned, smiling like an idiot. He leaned into her to drop his head against her hair. ‘Mr. Ono,’ he thought, unreasonably giddy.

“Mr. Ono,” his other half affirmed. Had he said that out loud? Oh well.

It was settled, he was Yoko’s wife now.
After that was decided, Yoko moved her hand up to rub his back.

“Is there another outfit you’d like to try?”

He hummed, “Yeah, yeah.” That was a good idea. “Last one?”

“Last one.”

Alright, this one was his favorite, he grinned. He turned from one side to the other, his hands in the coat pockets. This outfit was simple like the others, having a turtleneck and jeans underneath the coat. It was missing something though…

“Could I borrow one of your hats, love?”
Yoko nodded, of course, he wasn’t sure why he was worried about her saying no. His brain was funny like that sometimes. He grabbed one of her wide hats from off of a shelf, putting it on his head. He walked back to the mirror.

Perfect.

John didn’t really know what he was looking to find, but he’d definitely found it. He looked a bit -well, a lot- like a kid going through their mum’s clothes, but most of all, he looked like Yoko. Confident and pretty and creative and-

Well, Yoko was a whole bunch of things.

“Yes, just like me now.”

Either Yoko could actually read his mind (he wouldn’t put it past her) or he needed to stop mumbling so much to himself.

Evidently he’d been staring at himself and giggling like a madman a bit too long, because when he looked over to Yoko again, she was in a different outfit. She had on an NYC t-shirt with dark jeans. It took her coming over and plucking his glasses off of his face to make him realize, oh, she was dressed like him now!

He smiled even wider, squinting down at her. He couldn’t really see, but he was sure Yoko looked ethereal.

“Y’can keep ‘em,” he mumbled, on purpose this time.

Yoko batted her eyes up at him,

“How would you see?”

“I’d manage.”

John leaned down to kiss her and Yoko met him halfway. When he regretfully had to pull back to breathe (it was always him pulling away first somehow, never Yoko), she slipped his glasses back on his face.

He was so enamored with the sight of her that he didn’t notice. John really wasn’t sure what to do next. He knew he didn’t want to change clothes just yet and that he wanted to keep looking at his lover, but that was as far as his brain went.

He wanted to rock back and forth too, but he didn’t know if that was strange or not. He did it anyway and Yoko didn’t tell him it was weird or look at him funny, so it must’ve been alright.

“Would you like to lay back down?” Yoko suggested.

John nodded because all of Yoko’s ideas were good ones. He decided the hat and coat had to go for now, unfortunately. It wasn’t until he was sitting between Yoko’s legs, back against her chest, that he realized this was what he’d wanted to do. John wondered how she figured it out when he himself couldn’t, but he realized that was a silly thing to question. Yoko just knew these things, it’s what she did.

John sighed as Yoko rested her head on his shoulder. Heaven on Earth indeed.
