He meets Jake, Yoonchae’s cute teacher, and just so happens to get his number.

Notes:

Not my best work but just here to get my motivation up.

Work Text:

Heeseung was eating some raman while bingeing his favorite tv show, he was trying to have a chill night in.

Heeseung’s phone rang loudly, it was his best friend, Manon. He answered the phone immediately.

“Hey Manon, what’s up?” Heeseung said, putting his sister-in-law on speaker.

“Heeseung, I’m so sorry to ask this but I’m stuck in traffic and Nayoung is slammed at the bakery, can you please pick up Yoonchae from preschool?” Manon asked, she sounded panicked.

“Hey, it’s okay, don't worry!” Heeseung said, getting up, placing the raman in the fridge, “I’ll go pick up Yoonchae.”

“Thank you so much ‘seung, you're a lifesaver!” Manon said, sounding much more relaxed, “Please tell ‘Chae that mama loves her!”

“Yoonchae already knows that you love her Manon,” Heeseung said, already planning every way to spoil his beloved niece, “but of course, I’ll tell her that!”

“I know, I know, but I want Yoonchae to always know that her mama and eomma loves her,” Manon replied, “also, don’t spoil Chae too much.”

“No promises, love you bye!” Heeseung said quickly hanging up, he grabbed his keys and went to his car.

Jake rested his head on the kiddies table as Yoonchae, the last one of his students that has yet to be picked up, was playing with blocks.

Usually Manon and Nayoung were good at picking up Yoonchae on time, so it baffled him how neither of them had gotten Yoonchae yet.

His phone went off with a text, presumably from Manon and answered it.

...

Manon (Yoonchae's mom)

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): Sorry that I'm not there yet

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): Traffic on the bridge is so really bad right now

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): My brother in law is coming to pick Yoonchae

You: Okay, don't worry about it!

You: Yoonchae is being an angel

You: She's playing with blocks rn

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): I'll have Nayoung bring some treats from the bakery when she drops off Yoonchae tomorrow

You: You're the best

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): No you are

Manon (Yoonchae's mom): Thank you again!

You: no problom!

...

Jake put his phone down and moved to sit next to Yoonchae.

“Yoonchae, your uncle is going to pick you up instead of your Mama,” Jake said, picking up a block and handing it to the toddler.

“Yay, Heeseung oe-samchon!” Yoonchae said, throwing her hands up before pausing, her face dropping, “why isn’t Mama picking me up?”

“Your Mama is stuck in traffic, little one,” Jake said ruffling up her hair, which caused the little one to giggle.

“You’d love my oe-samchon, Mr. Jake!” Yoonchae said abandoning her blocks, “you’d two would be so cute like how Mama and Eomma are!”

Jake felt all the blood rush to his face, he let out a nervous chuckle, “Sure, tell me all about him,” Jake replied.

Heeseung walked through the door, he saw his niece with her teacher playing with blocks.

Heeseung looked at Yoonchae’s teacher, he was really handsome, his black hair fell over his eyes as he played with Yoonchae.

“Heeseung Oe-samchon!” Yoonchae said, throwing her hands up and running to Heeseung, hugging his legs.

“Hey Yoonie,” Heeseung said, ruffling up the little girl’s hair, “go get your stuff, little bean, we’re getting icecream!” Yoonchae raced to get her backpack, babbling about ice cream.

“Mr. Lee, your niece is a really sweet kid, she’s a pleasure to have in class,” Yoonchae’s teacher said, “I’m Jake, Yoonchae’s told me all about you.”

Jake’s accent made Heeseung’s heart do a little tap dance in his chest, how could this man be so effortlessly handsome?

“Uh, you can just call me Heeseung, no need for the Mr. Lee stuff,” Heeseung said, wiping his sweaty palms on his pants.

“Okay, well Heeseung, here’s my number,” Jake said, writing his number and name onto a small sheet of paper, handing it to Heeseung, “Let’s get coffee some time, we can call it a date.”

“Uh, I’d love to,” Heeseung said, taking the paper, he really couldn’t believe this was happening, Jake has reduced him to a blushing mess.

“Great, I’ll text you the details later,” Jake said winking, Yoonchae raced to Heeseung and hugged his legs.

“Come on, Oe-samchon!” Yoonchae said, grabbing his hand, waving goodbye to her teacher, “Bye, bye Mr. Jake!”

When they got outside of the preschool, Yoonchae let go of her oe-samchon, putting her hands on her hips.

“Why are you so red, Oe-samchon Heeseung?” Yoonchae demanded, she looked so much like Manon at that moment, it practically gave him whiplash.

“You look just like your Mama, Yoonie,” Heeseung said, tucking Jake’s note into his pocket.

“You still haven’t answered my question,” Yoonchae said, tapping her foot on the ground.

He could have sworn he had the exact conversation with Manon in high school, so many years ago.

“I’ll stop asking you questions if you give me two scoops of ice cream and extra sprinkles!” Yoonchae said, now she’s acting just like her Eomma.

Heeseung couldn’t believe he was getting interagated and extorted by a fucking toddler, she really was her mothers child.

“You’re just like your Eomma and your Mama, Yoonchae,” Heeseung sighed, “but fine I’ll get you your ice cream.”

“Good!” Yoonchae said smiling, grabbing his hands and dragging him to the car  “Come on, let's get my ice cream oe-samchon!”

Manon was most definitely going to bully him for this when she found out, but at least he got a date out of it.
