   Summary

   As children, Riftan learns of the abuse Maxi suffers and asks her to run away with him. Much to his surprise, she agrees. They live on the run and Riftan swears to Maxi that one day he would give her all the riches of the world. This alters the course of their future and the timeline that we are familiar with. We see their friendship bloom, their inevitable marriage, then their separation as they pursue different paths of knighthood and mage. The struggles they face that may not all be similar with the events of the original story.
