And then you ignored her to spend time with Luis...” She paused, searching her older sister’s face. “She just wants to help. She cares about you. I’ve seen the way she looks at you—no 'best friends' look at each other the way you two do.”
Red stiffened, the air trapping itself in her lungs. “We’re just friends, Pink. We’ve had a rough couple of days, that’s all.”
“Friends?” Pink let out a soft, sympathetic chuckle, shaking her head. “Red, I’ve watched you around other people. You build a ten-foot wall and dare everyone to try and climb it. But with Chloe? You let her walk right through the front door. And when she looked hurt tonight, you looked like your entire world was falling apart.”
