Work Text:
Nikki was tired, rather exhausted. She should remind herself she should not wear heels for long periods of time again, much less if she was going to jump and dance at an after-play party. She wasn’t sure if she should really have been part of the actors who helped Gen and the other Wise Generals in what the sly magician assured as “the play of the year”, their own wicked, but original, version of the original fairytale Cinderella.
Gen proposed to do it to win money with this form of entertainment, so they could buy the petrol from Ryusui for the Perseus ship before it departed in September as they needed to. Surprisingly for everyone, even the greedy captain agreed to help. He said it was going to be funny and desired to be part of it. It didn’t matter it was going to cost him money later, meaning he was digging his own grave, just because he was going to see everyone’s joyful smiles with it and they could forget their problems for some minutes, something very thoughtful coming from him.
Everyone was more enthusiastic about the plan when the leader scientist, Senku, someone who doesn’t have time for artistic performances because he spends his time in the laboratory with processes he considers as rational, said he was going to help, and with a major role which didn’t require much showing, but still it was important. What led Senku to do it was a mystery anyone had discovered yet, but when he announced it left everyone in shock, except Gen and Ryusui who couldn’t help but grin more, expecting it to be better than they initially thought.
And indeed, it was a stunning play that went perfectly on wheels in the summer of the year 5741 A.C.
Ukyo was the evil stepmother, wearing a pink dress that suited him ridiculously well, and his performance as a shady woman was majestic, like if all the insults he gave the others were personal and he was in reality taking advantage of the play to vent all his frustration (if he actually did, not that Gen cared about, he well knew it was part of his role). Nikki was really amused when she saw his friend act like that.
Ryusui was the coachman, using a pilot black suit, the “captain” of the science-drawn carriage (it was actually a mini version of the big ship they were building, the Perseus) that was taking Cinderella to the castle. His energy interpreted perfectly the role, making the comedic acts like crashing the ship obstreperously or not taking completely seriously Cinderella when she revealed her real nature, entertaining the audience.
Chrome played the prince, the one who organized the party to find a suitable wife for his, wearing the usual soft navy royal prince costume for the perfect Cinderella. However, it was decided he was not even going to end up with her, not only because the boy himself didn’t show interest in marrying someone at the moment and prefers to amaze himself with science, but he didn’t voice an opinion when that part was written. In fact, it was supposed that they would end up together, but all of sudden there was a change; not that anyone complained though.
Senku was the fairy godmother, who instead of using magic, used science. He wore a black and blue elegant three-part vest beneath a long white cape with golden details, black gloves and a red jewel as a brooch shining just like his crimson eyes. He also wore large leather boots, making him taller than normal. He may not be the perfect actor, but he gave it all and it could be appreciated. He did pretty well on the stage, being the character who brought hope to Cinderella in an unusual way, but was still her savior. He was also the one who noticed Cinderella’s real plans to be the one who kept the realm for herself, and the audience didn’t know if it was part of his role or because he naturally reads her actor like if he was an open book…
Gen himself was Cinderella. He had a shiny soft blue dress with a corset, opera gloves and ruffles as his sleeves in that color, his blue-gray skirt being in gradient to finish in a darker tone at its end, made out of tulle and sparkles that stole the gaze of anyone watching him. The fairy godmother (Senku) said it was made of graphene fabric. He also wore the characteristic Cinderella’s heels, made out of glass fiber, the material who at the end took the attention of the prince (Chrome). For ending his costume, a necklace, headband and earrings with pearls just manufactured in the laboratory thanks to Senku knowing how to make them, its process being biologically simple if you already have sea oysters to raise a pearl farming. If his eye-catching suit wasn’t enough, his performance was the one who ended up captivating everyone, being for no one’s surprise the main star of it, changing his emotions easily from sadness to manipulative. Gen, as always, was the star of the theaters.
Nikki wasn’t a major role really, just someone of support as a background character; one of Cinderella’s sisters, daughters of her stepmother. She wore a bright pink dress and her hair loosened up, something at first she didn’t want to wear but Gen persuaded her to do because she would look “mazing-ay” like that, and in fact, she did. The only actions she needed to do was making fun of Cinderella with her laughs, running away from her quickly and later gasping when she revealed her real plan, so those weren’t energy consuming.
What undoubtedly got her tired was the after-party. Another one of Gen’s tactics for exploiting more from people’s money and getting it in his pocket (and Senku’s too, they share finances): organize a social gathering for “celebrating the successful Cinderella play, including that our so ational-ray leader took part on it” as an excuse for selling goods like sake or candies at an exorbitant price so they could consume them in the meanwhile. Worst of all? Anyone seemed to care about with the amusement of the party in their heads.
At least there was a “free” dance floor where everyone could hit in with the music played by Ishigami villagers, Nikki included, and enjoy themselves. She had never laughed or sung so loud before in her life, and hadn’t spent so much time dancing; which was what she didn’t actually regret, she loved to have fun with her new friends of the stone world and felt it like a break after all the work she had done along with the people of the Kingdom of Science, probably part of Gen’s hidden intention, but the night was exhausting after running out of energy because of moving and jumping around with everyone.
Now she really needed to rest. Abandoning the party site with caution for not unnecessarily worrying someone when they saw her, she headed to the nearby woods. But before completely leaving, he noticed Ukyo and Ryusui on a table close, together, talking enthusiastically and laughing their heads off, especially the sailor with his usual loudness. The air seemed to have settled comfortable between them, and she precepted some bright sparkles in his archer friend’s eyes, an apparent unsignificant sign she saw for the first time on him, and with what she had learned to appreciate with their time of friendship… If they gave green light to something else, she would be really happy for them and wouldn’t doubt twice cheering up his friend. It appeared to be a couple connected by the ocean itself, and Nikki, as someone who likes romantic stories a lot, believing in the genuineness and eternity of true love, thought it was wonderful to see a trope like that in real people, in close friends of hers.
For a brief second, Ukyo saw her going, his face inquiring worry, just like she didn’t want, but was something from his personality he would never leave. She smiled and nodded to encourage him to keep talking, saying with her gaze she only had to catch a breath. The other nodded too with complicity, turning his face to the sailor back again before she took out her heels, grabbed them, and disappeared deeper into the trees and nature.
The place she wanted to go wasn’t far away. A clear space in the forest filled with delicate flowers, letting the moonlight of the night’s full moon illumine it naturally. Fireflies would fly and light up around with their small brightness, some birds and crickets would chirp to fill the silence with their sound. A place that looked like it had got out of a movie, but after so many years without human affairs, nature recovered it. She had discovered it once she was in the Empire of Might exploring to gather some fruit from bushes and decided it was a perfect spot she could be every time she wanted to rest up, go out of the world for a moment on her own.
But before arriving to her space, noises that weren’t from the environment could be heard, voices… She couldn’t understand or distinct them well yet, but she knew there were already people there. A bit disappointed but with the urge to know who they were, silently, she crouched down and got closer, hiding in a convenient bush which put out of sight perfectly her aesthetically defined and corpulent body, overhearing closely.
— …As you can see, my dear, my likeness for the fairytale Cinderella had started since kid, but I had never interpreted her ever before… — It was a high-pitched voice, with a melancholy undertone in his speech as he played along with words, Gen’s.
— Why people put so many problems with a man playing a feminine role if there is no other perfect option? Nonsense… — Bluntly and honest as always, Senku’s voice resonated, yet it didn’t have its habitual coldness, rather a not-so-hided warmth in it. Also, it was a surprise for Nikki he wasn’t talking about a science related topic, just having a casual conversation, so she continued to listen carefully.
Gen audibly sighed. — It wasn’t that easy Senku-chan… Is for having things the most air-fay possible, considering that men used to interpret feminine roles in the English Renaissance theater era, thus it didn’t use to be fair to women too… Plus, the original “Cinderella” was written by a man author, Charles Perrault if I’m not mistaken, which is cool, right! But for the same reason people had a sexist way of seeing things where they thought she was only there to be rescued and helped by a handsome man, therefore, she wasn’t a girl who can empower herself. The prevailing belief that men would portray her like that, as a needy princess of a brave prince and just it, is a common argument for quitting someone the role just because he will not be "the strong woman they need", leaving aside true talent… But we are in a new world that could be shaped differently now from old habits, don’t we? So, I had to take advantage of it and fulfill my little child’s dream ♪!
— Ku ku ku…You really wanted to put that dress on, didn’t you? — the other funnily asked, chuckling with the passion the other had with the topic.
— You know me, I did! — he made a quick pause — Yuzuriha-chan did a really good job with it, I hadn’t seen a prettiest dress before, I absolutely love it. Please remind me Senku-chan of paying her a considerable amount of dragos, she deserves to after making me see more eautiful-bay~.
— Let me think about it… — another pause this time from the scientist, like if he was really thinking it, a way to tease Gen who annoyingly snorted and probably pouted. He chuckled again — Ku ku ku, don’t worry, I will — and a in a silent voice Nikki almost didn’t hear — and you do.
Nikki couldn’t hold herself and peeked her head over the bush a little, praying for not being found. She looked at Senku and Gen, sat down on the grass close to each other a few meters away. From her perspective, she only observed Gen’s half smile on the side where his petrification mark was, and part of Senku’s sharp profile with one of his hairlocks hiding a bit of it, gazes alternated between facing ahead or seeing the other, not completely giving her their backs but enough to not being caught in their field of view. They still wore on their costume vests, Gen’s blue dress shining with the moonlight, as if all the brightness was to highlight once again how stunning it was. They were comfortable, not minding of their distance that was separated by only a few inches, a startling detail for Nikki who knew they didn’t like that much physical contact with other people. But now that she remembered, sometimes Senku and Gen used to be really close…
As someone who had become friends with Gen too, she knew he always deliberately prepared what he was going to say next, although this time he seemed to be more carefree. He didn’t leave his theatrics and dramatism at all, but he didn’t sound concerned about showing one of his multiple masks, like he was in a total full of trust ambient. Senku had a similar air, a fondness he isn’t used to show to anyone, something odd for Nikki who had seen the scientist only care about progress with scientific inventions, except now it was with a person who seemed to be special to him… And when she squinted her eyes to the space between them, she looked down at their arms to notice their fingers intertwined, still having on their respective gloves. It was a discovery worth making Nikki loudly gasp, but she held her astonishment to remain hidden from them. After all, she wasn’t supposed to be seeing this, not for anything it was concealed… But curiosity won her, she couldn't control her inner fangirl, wanting to know more, how it started, since when they realized their feelings, what was the most special thing they appreciated of each other...
— And what about you my dear Senku? Did you like especially any princess from bedtime fairytales? — they kept talking normally, looking up to the starry night sky.
— I wasn’t interested in those little child tales nor even a millimeter, Byakuya never bothered to tell me them because he knew he was going to waste his time. I would only sleep if he read about strings theory — Senku said it like it was the most normal thing in the world.
— Poor Senku-chan’s father, reading strings theory to a child, I heard once it is one of the most complex in science… — Gen turned his face to the scientist, sounding weak just thinking about it.
— Yup, it is a not proved theory which tries to provide a complete and consistent description of the fundamental structure of the universe, being said by the theory that the world is made out of strings: Under a really powerful microscope, where you see in the distance an electron, you are in reality seeing a string oscillating in the way of an electron, but if you move it, it could turn to a quark, or a photon, or a gluon, etcetera… It turns to one of the composing “blocks” of one of the four fundamental forces of the universe: gravity, electromagnetism, weak and strong nuclear forces; the behavior of each of these particles and how they form matter is described almost impeccably in the Standard Model. However, the one we are more familiar with is gravity, and paradoxically, is an exception of the Standard Model because it’s not described there, gravitational force isn’t easy to detail microscopically, and consequently, there isn’t a quantum theory of gravity… So that’s how the theory was born but still needed study for being relatively new in the 21st century, “the theory of everything”. — Senku fixed his gaze on Gen too, starting to explain his knowledge even if mortals don’t use to understand him. Nikki couldn't be weirded out, that's the Senku she knew.
— It unifies quantum mechanics and general relativity, two big physics laws that clash with each other because of the different scales of their objects of study. The struggle often comes with quantum mechanics, proposed initially by Max Plank with his quantum hypothesis of the black-body radiation, later scientist like Albert Einstein, Werner Heisenberg and Paul Dirac contributed with their own formulations and discoveries in the phenomenon related, but the most famous out of them, Erwin Schrödinger, formalized it with his own equation. It’s a field of physics that talks about how matter and energy act on a subatomic scale. It requires understanding of advanced mathematics and thinking in a counterintuitive way, because objects don’t have a defined position or velocity until they are observed, so they act as particles and waves simultaneously. You should also be conscious of their superposition, how they could be in two or more places at the same time, and entanglement, two systems communicating instantly between them without caring about the distance.
— Wow… — Gen voiced, Nikki not being sure if it was genuine or with sarcasm. — I don’t know that much of the topic like you, and I don’t know what to exactly do with this new info, but there was something in psychology that sounded familiar, related with his Heisenberg-chan man… Oh, the uncertainty principle!
— You know about it mentalist! Ten billion points for you! — Senku was excited, the reaction he had when he saw someone was actually paying attention to his science speech and interested in it, like Gen was doing. — The uncertainty principle is a what Heisenberg proposed, establishing that it’s impossible to know the position and moment of a particle with total precision because only you seeing it affects those factors, so you would know it in the moment you saw, now, but not in the moment you weren’t seeing, before, its real nature. And that without including that the longer you study it, the longer you keep modifying it!
— Uhm, in psychology it was something that only said how you can’t analyze someone’s true behavior without altering it because you do it with your mere presence or just because you are looking over, making it hard to psychologists when they are with a patient… But not for me, a mentalist! — He flattered himself, proof of his big pride, putting the other hand on his chest.
— Well, is true that you do pretty good in that — and for Nikki’s surprise, Senku, whether intentional or not, complimented him…
“Oh” Nikki thought for herself while seeing “, they are lovely when they are alone with each other…”
— Then there is general relativity, its object of study principally being big scale objects in the universe — Senku continued with his own infodump, Gen accommodating himself to keep listening — and I already talked about his father, Albert Einstein. The equation I have on my lab coat, E=mc2, is one of its biggest fundaments. First, light, represented in the equation as c and is a constant, always 300.000 km/s, no matter what the system of reference you are studying is. You discover too how mass and energy are related, that perhaps the object is still, it has a very high amount of energy just for having mass, which is also multiplicated with the speed of light squared; that explain nuclear fusion, where a little part of the mass from an object gets destroyed and transforms in massive quantities of radiation and thermic energy, like it happens in our nearest star, the sun. Plus, it states that there is no object in motion that could travel at the speed of light, because applying the same equation, the mass should be infinite, therefore, energy should be too and that is impossible; so only objects with a mass equal zero, better said waves, could travel at that speed.
— He also stated that time is relative, depending on the position of the point of view and both their interpretations could be valid, and how space and time are combined into one because they aren’t independent of each other, in space-time, how the space is affected by time and vice versa. And you finally have the curvature of that fine fiber space-time in universe is, gravity: Greater is the mass of an object, greater you feel the pull towards it, which could also affect your own perception of time. That is the foundation of how scientists thought for the first time of one of the most exhilarating celestial bodies that had ever existed in space, black holes! Because their mass is zero, infinite, its gravity is an enormous amount which gets larger the closer you get to it, and infinite in its singularity too, so you can help but being pulled by it without nothing being enough to escape from it.
— Senku-chan — Gen subtly interrupted, using a tender tone —, you already lost me… — Seriously, how Gen said that just now after listening to all of that? Nikki was feeling dizzy, she didn't feel like that even at the party…
Senku only chuckled, still keeping his own amusement. — Maybe is difficult to understand at first because some parts of it might are contrary to common sense, but the moment you get it, it becomes easier to understand the universe itself. Yet it is still theory, not completely proved, so don’t get overconfident and keep working to find the truth behind what the world is made of, whether it is in favor of the strings theory or not!
— Fu fu~, sorry but not sorry, I’ll not be the one who finds out that… But I’m “ten billion percent” sure you will someday — from Nikki’s perspective, she saw how Gen’s lips curved in a soft smile full of affection for the scientist. The other smiled too, and when she looked down at their intertwined fingers, their grip had become stronger, coming from the younger one.
— When all 7 billion people are brought back once again and civilization is restored, I may think about it…
— And you know I’ll be there by your side if you let me to — slowly, Gen came closer and snuggled up on Senku’s body, moving their hands in front of them. He rested his head on the other’s shoulder, not letting Nikki see completely the scientist’s reaction, who, nevertheless, didn’t pull apart and instead only rested his own head on the contrary’s.
— Now that I remember, about your first question, I recall Byakuya making me watch Beauty and the Beast — Senku softly said.
— Ow, that’s such an etty-pray movie~!
Senku nodded. — My old man was a romantic person by nature, and it was probably his favorite movie. He loved how even someone as the beast, who wasn’t bad at all, just misunderstood, found love with a kind-hearted, talented and beautiful woman, or stuff like that…
— Byakuya-chan had a very good taste I see — the mentalist replied, not breaking the gentle mood —. My favorite scene of it is when they danced in the hall, wasn’t that wonderful?
— Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was his favorite scene too.
— But talking about it! As a princess for tonight I didn’t have my own dance with my prince! — Gen said like being truly offended.
— To remind you, Chrome did not become “your prince”, you never married him in first place.
— Is not my fault someone told me to change that part where Cinderella was still going to marry the prince anyways. — “Oh”.
— Chrome already has Ruri, someday they will marry — “Oh…”
— Senku-chan… Should I remind you it was only a play?
— I’m not further discussing it; you weren’t going to marry him — Senku grumbled. “Oooh…”
Suddenly, Gen separated a bit and burst into laughter. — You really are adorable when you get jealous Senku-chan! And even for someone like Chrome who you know I don’t have any interest in!
Senku only scoffed and looked away, not denying anything about what Gen said.
“So Senku was the one who made that change… because he didn’t want to see Gen marrying someone else… Aww!!” Nikki silently squealed, enjoying the romantic drama happening ahead of her.
— I still want my dance though — Gen insisted, now free from all his previous laughter.
Senku turned back to him frowning. — I don’t know how to dance.
— You said something that could be related before, is difficult to get it at first, but the moment you pick up the rhythm and synchronize, is easier to understand. And you are alone with me, no one will know if you fail…
Looking back to the stars for a moment, Senku considered the option. He sighed and stood up, standing in front of the other to extend his hand. Gen was surprised by the action.
— Wait, are you for eal-ray? I was just joking, I-!
— It’s once in a lifetime opportunity, take it now or refuse it forever.
— And you don’t feel obliged? — Gen hesitated.
With a sparkle in his eyes Nikki could only describe as a loving one, Senku responded: — I can’t say no to my mentalist.
And just like that, Gen took Senku’s hand and stood by his side, making Nikki see better their height difference with Senku wearing high boots. Carefully, they go farther into the clear space full of delicate flowers, what was going to be their own dance hall, Nikki inferred. Luckily for her, she still saw and heard well in her position, darkness covering her. Gen’s blue dress shone more with more of the moonlight reflecting on it, and now Senku’s vest did too, especially his red jewel brooch. The crickets and birds seemed to get slowly quiet as the people moved forward. And without being sure if it was her imagination or not, Senku looked nervous, but the tender smile Gen gave him before stopping calmed him down. They absolutely looked like a dance couple for Nikki.
— How is it done? — Senku asked.
— First, we simply do smooth and slow glide movements, moving two times up and a third one down, moving clockwise around the dance floor synchronized. And if you want to, we could also do the sweeping turns.
— Then let’s put theory to practice! — Senku said eagerly, grabbing Gen by his right side of the waist, in the corset just before the skirt started to fall. Gen accommodated himself, grabbing Senku by his right shoulder, on the scapulae, and putting their held hands by their left side, the closed position for maintaining their posture during a waltz.
— Second, we need a rhythm, a song… Do you have any suggestions? — Senku denied with his head. — Hm… I have one, “All of me” by John Legend, it kind of suits us fine…
— You are going to sing it?
— Sure, is not like I will rupture your eardrums. And after Nikki’s train, I could try…— Gen tried to tease, chuckling softly. Senku didn’t talk more, but his gaze that shone with the same spark he had for science, showed that he was giving in his actions to trust Gen.
Coincidentally they called her name, but she must remain hided. What excited her the most was the song they chose, because even if she knows the original song, there was a version she enjoyed more, knowing it by heart: The cover Lillian made along with an orchestra, just like the greatest fan of the American diva alive should know.
A version she made just before she went to the ISS in Russia, an unusual very romantic song from her, who even if she had more and were his most famous ones, didn’t have the devotion she transmitted when she sang that cover. People didn’t know if it was because she was dedicating it to someone, but knew that it was a magistral version: Lillian’s strong and melodious voice magnificently blended with the melody different acoustic instruments played, conveying how much in love you are with someone for totally trusting them, no matter how they are, you are without fear, like the original lyrics propose.
Gen cleared his throat, and first in a low voice, he started to sing, and the song Nikki had memorized rent free in his mind began to play.
What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out — slowly, Gen moved backwards, going two times down and one other up, the “counterintuitive” for himself, but easier to Senku who would learn with what he said before. He also made them spin in their own axis, so the other would get used to both movements first.
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind?
I'm on your magical mystery ride — Senku accidently stepped on Gen’s feet, gripping him stronger in a try to not making him fall down. Nikki saw how moved his mouth, maybe murmuring an apology.
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright… — Gen chuckled with it and didn’t complain, resting it importance. With the fast learner Senku is, he added the third movement, moving around the flowery grass as they kept with their soft rhythm. Nikki was surprised by their synchronization, how almost immediately they caught up the tempo, without unnecessarily bumping into each other or stepping again on the other. And even if there was a little mistake before, they were doing it for fun, they would continue moving forward.
My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind~ — through his voice, Gen made an emphasis in that specific verse, because it was exactly how they were: Both are passionate with their own topics, yet the other doesn’t seem to care as long as it is authentic; ridiculously falling in love with each other for that same reason, not needing to apparent being someone else. Their gazes lingered, Gen’s blue-grayish eyes shone like anything else, joyful to see the person he loves the most (Nikki wouldn’t doubt it), dance with him. Senku unconsciously searched for his approval, finding a genuine smile that didn’t need to confirm him twice. He knew well he undoubtedly was making Gen the happiest man on earth in that moment.
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh-oh… — a bit awkwardly, Senku took the lead, lifting their joined hands up to give Gen a twirl. Gen responded to the move, his skirt lifting slightly from the floor and giving the effect he was flying, giggling when he got back to the normal position and continued their clockwise path. Not even the sparkles on all his dress could compare to the one in his eyes or Senku’s.
How many times do I have to tell you?
Even when you're crying, you're beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I'm around through every mood
You're my downfall, you're my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues
I can't stop singing, it's ringing in my head for you
My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind~ — once again, Senku gave Gen another sweeping turn, shoulders finally getting unstrained knowing he had the enough strength for doing it and Gen enjoying those. And in his own rational mind, it seemed he began to understand why Gen liked to highlight those words of the song especially.
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you…
Without wanting to overwhelm Senku, Gen started to make their glide movements quicker, just enough for the song’s part where more energy was put to.
Cards on the table, we're both showing hearts
Risking it all, though it's hard — Senku made Gen gave another twirl, smiling with his own triumph of doing it well another time.
And once again, Gen slowed down.
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you…
Starting to get almost still, he closed his eyes and got closer to Senku, sticking their foreheads together, lowering their clasped hands to their side, as well as the other slid down through Senku’s suit to search steadily for the contrary’s one on his dress.
I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, — with a new faithful gaze, he opened his eyes to gaze at Senku, holding both their hands — oh-oh…
The song finished, Gen reaching for Senku’s shoulder to rest his head on it, his nape grazing Senku’s neck, its position to the environment in front, shutting his eyes in a moment silence deserved to fill, along with the constant company of the full moon’s light. Senku closed his eyes too, inclining his head down and letting go one of his hands for putting it on Gen’s waist again, as if he was embracing him, his other hands still held together between them.
— I know that when you agreed to be in a relationship with me you told me we couldn’t be that clingy yet and for the same reason we keep this secret at the moment; but Senku-chan, these months we have spent together have been the greatest of my life ever, and I hope it stays like that many years more. I will be by your side forever and help you achieve your objective of saving humanity, no matter what, I promise, because just as the song said, I give my all to you… I love you — Gen said almost silently, softly with a tender tone.
— And I do too, trust me… — Senku replied with a warm voice, demonstrating his affection to the mentalist. — When all of this is over, not sure if I’ll be studying strings theory because of time, but I’m ten billion percent sure I’ll stay beside you.
— I really am a fortunate girl… — Gen parodied one of the dialogues he had to say in the Cinderella play, beaming lovingly.
Whatever happened next, Nikki didn’t know, she saw enough. She felt a bit guilty for intruding in a private moment, the tip of her ears and cheeks turning red in ashamedness. Quietly she stood up from her bush hiding place, took her heels, and left to the party’s dance floor again; at least she felt with renewed energy, subtly smiling as she got farther. Well, how couldn’t her, while her heart beat quickly and felt an unexpected warmth in her chest, after just being a witness of a genuine and everlasting true love between two crazy people, but for each other too?
Part of quantum’s physics fundaments are the uncertainty principle, which states that you don’t know for sure when or where a particle was before you directly affect it when you see it, and the superposition, where a particle could be at two places at the same time. Then there is also the definition of gravity from relativity, where an object is inevitably pulled by another, affecting its own perception of time because of the other’s presence. And besides that, there is the strings theory which affirms that a particle could turn into another if the oscillation of its string is moved, creating something new, matter.
What neither Nikki, Senku, Gen nor any other person ever knew, is that thousand of years ago, when the six astronauts landed on Earth after the event of petrification, settling in an un inhabited island and starting their own new primitive village so they could wait for the one who was going to bring progress to humanity again, one of these people, Lillian, was one night with the full moon up in a clear field full of delicate flowers the nature brought, singing the song she once made a cover of along with an orchestra, dancing a similar waltz with the person she dedicated that song to since the first time she sang it, the person who she promised to be by his side forever and help him with his objective, the same old man who was crazy when he talked about his son, Byakuya.
