Summary
Hudson Carter has grown up knowing there are only two types of people in the world...the saved, and the sinners. Hudson’s upbringing in a devoutly religious, deeply dysfunctional home with an abusive father and a mother who left him as soon as she could, relies solely on his faith because it’s been the only consistent thing in his life promising hope. But at seven years old, he’s forced to reckon with something that challenge everything he thought he knew in the form of the kid living next door.
William Hayes is boisterous while Hudson is reserved; warm where the rest of the world is cold; he somehow becomes the single grounding force in Hudson’s world.
