‘Home.’
When he heard that word, he couldn’t even picture Andy’s room anymore, nor could he picture that entire house. What he could picture was the old, dark night that would take over SunnySide every time the sun set, casting large shadows through the Butterfly Room, and only way to see being the deep orange glow of an overhead light outside. He also pictured the ceiling of a children’s indoor playhouse above him, a cushion beneath, and the overwhelming feeling of guilt in his chest. He also pictured himself in the arms of the man that put him call this home in the first place.
That was home. Despite the emptiness, the shame, and fear, it was still the place he’d come to find himself calling home anyway.
He wanted to go home.
