The plushie's embroidered coat bunched up, but it was something solid to hold onto while his heart hammered against his ribs and a traitorous warmth pooled low in his stomach.

    ‘How did I get here?’ Dokja wondered, pressing his forehead against the plushie's soft head. ‘How did my life become this?’
