Work Text:

Izuku flung his arms out, an invitation and a carefree movement in one. He strayed closer to where the rest of the league were standing, a brilliant smile on his face.

They were all standing out of the rain, keeping dry. Izuku thought it was quite boring of them.

He walked up to Toga, the girl already clearly interested in what he was doing. He knew her well, knew that she only needed a little push to get herself soaked.

He offered a hand to her.

She took it.

It wasn’t a hesitant movement, if it was Izuku would likely have waited for a second longer, so he dragged her into the rain with him.

Her signature schoolgirl outfit got soaked as she stepped foot inside a large puddle with a splash. She regarded her drenched attire with a small grin on her face that was quickly widening into a large smile.

“Oh you’re on,” She said, and she reached out for the fleeing Izuku.

Twice didn’t need any more convincing than that and joined quickly. His identities weren’t quite disagreeing with each other, and Izuku regarded that as an improvement as the masked man ran out to tag team him.

Wait.

“You’re tag teaming me? That’s so unfair.”

Dabi leaned back and smirked, and caught Izuku’s eye with his movement.

Izuku smiled at the man, and he immediately took a step back. Izuku ran forward and dragged Dabi into the rain.

Dabi looked down at his now soaking wet clothing. “Oh, you’re on. gremlin.”

Izuku now had three of the top villains chasing after him as he ran through the rain, anybody else would have been horrified and maybe a bit scared, but they didn’t know the circumstances.

Izuku was satisfied.

He tossed a glance at the last remaining member, the others having joined soon after Dabi did or out on an errand, Shigaraki.

“Brat.”

That was all the invitation Izuku needed. Suddenly, he was next to Shigaraki, and the next second the manchild was sopping.

Izuku let out a shriek of laughter as the chase was on, now all the league had joined in the chase. It ended with muddy clothes and everybody dirty.

It was the best day ever, and Izuku wouldn’t trade it for the world.

__________

Later on, Izuku cradled a cup of hot chocolate in his hands, the best thing ever made in his humble opinion.

He took a long sip of it, savouring the taste on his tongue as the smooth chocolate ran down his throat, warming his body.

Shigaraki sat on the couch, at least eight blankets smothering his body in their embrace. He was still shivering, however, and Izuku pointedly ignored the glare the manchild sent his way.

Dabi was fine, he was essentially a human heater, so that wasn’t a surprise. He was absentmindedly hovering a flame above his hand, blue. The fire warmed the entire room with its heat.

Izuku watched the fire, the form of it reminded him of a willow-the-wisp. He smiled, he was glad the man had taken his advice.

The flames may not be able to be as big in quantity but the fact that he was able to throw them and control them without having to burn himself more than made up for it.

He couldn’t wait to see the look on the heroes’ faces when they were bombarded with flaming projectiles.

He snickered to himself at that thought. Once upon a time, long ago, he may have felt sick at the thought. The idea of helping villains? Despicable.

He found that he no longer cared about that. He had a family now.

The heroes never bothered to save him, never bothered to help those less privileged.

Yeah sure, maybe some of them were like the Todoroki’s born and raised to be an imitation of a father who never truly cared. Raised like weapons and treated as such.

But the vast majority of them were, and excuse his language, assholes.

They never understood and would never understand, they didn’t bother to.

Stuck up, privileged and glued to their ways.

He had a family now, one that actually cared about him and his wellbeing, one that actually asked how he was doing.

He looked at Shigaraki, stretching out like a cat under a pile of blankets, ignoring Kurogiri’s desperate attempts at getting him to self-care, sure they might be a little unconventional. But they were family.

He thought back to Inko, his mother, who had taken one look at the x-ray that decided his life and had already brought out the funeral payments.

He thought back to Hisashi who had up and left the first chance he got.

He thought back to Bakugo, who had watched everybody else and decided to follow, decided to follow yet still proclaimed himself the leader.

They sickened him, all three of them.

Because his new family cared, and if they could get beaten down by the world, bullied for things out of their control, yet still manage to pick themselves up and tear everything else down?

Well there were no excuses for his previous family and friends were there?

Toga walked up to him, changed into yet another schoolgirl uniform, a point-blank shot at anybody who dared to ignore who she was.

He smiled at her.

“Hey Zuzu, today was sooo fun! But I’m a little hungry. Could I?”

She barely even needed to ask before he was sticking out his arm for her to feed off of. She happily latched onto his wrist small blood droplets already dripping down his arm.

Once she had drunk her fill she sighed contentedly. “Thanks Zuku.”

He remembered when she had first asked, when she had walked up to him timidly and questioned if she was even allowed.

Even someone as deranged as she, and that was a compliment, being broken down by the world enough to have to ask for something she so obviously needed? It made him sick.

He would happily recruit Dabi to burn down anybody who had ever hurt her. He would protect her. That was a promise he would keep till his dying days.

She was his little sister, ignoring the fact that she was technically older than him, and he would keep her safe.

He would keep them all safe.

Notes:

Omake: Family Bonding.

Toga: “So anyway, I was just asking out the cutest girl, hey come back” *Stabs and guttural screaming.*

Izuku: *Carefully demolishes the entire hero defensive team* “Oh yeah? What did she say?”

Toga: “She’s so cute, but I couldn’t hear her answer over the screaming, it was so sad.”

Shigaraki and Dabi: *Standing off to the side, watching the entire commission get destroyed.*

Dabi: “Shouldn’t we help them?”

Shigaraki: *Playing a video game on his nintendo* “Nahh, they have it covered.”
