Work Text:
Quackity made sure that he had all of the things he needed. He carefully checked over the list, not willing to go before he was certain that this would be exactly what he wanted.
He grinned as he noted that it was.
It was a regular suit at first glance, if you were half-blind and staring at the wall as you did so. It was the blue of his beanie, the collar was white, and the tie was gold.
But that wasn’t what made the suit irregular. No, it was the fact that it was half on fire. Not actual fire, that would just burn Quackity’s wings and get him injured. But, on a few strategic places: the end of the tie, the edges of the lapels, the short coattails - there were small flames.
They were blue but they didn’t burn. It should’ve looked gaudy, even Quackity was sceptical, and he had made a lot of interesting fashion choices over the course of his lifetime.
Nevertheless, the suit turned out perfectly.
He knew that whatever enchantment that made the flames would be enough to keep the suit preserved as well, he had made sure everything that the designer did was overseen by experienced people.
He had done everything right, because he wanted the day to be perfect.
The flames were a callback to Sapnap. Behind Karl’s back he had arranged for small maps to be put everywhere for guests and his fiancee to refer to.
There was no such thing as getting lost at their wedding.
He had also placed a small podium at the venue. Not in the way, but just outside where the guests would be sitting. There were writing utensils there so that Karl could place his book on the stand and write down all the memories he didn’t want to forget.
________
Sapnap walked down the aisle, then Karl, then Quackity. They couldn’t actually decide who was to walk down the aisle so they just decided to send out one at a time, with the other two waiting for the walker to reach the end before they sent the next one to walk.
It was the perfect solution when one was in a polyamorous relationship with two others of the same gender.
After the particularly extended aisle walk it was time for many other tedious things that Quackity had prepared. He was pretty hungry and he had already been married once, so it wasn’t that new to him, especially the things more centered around logistics.
He was still having the time of his life, however, and he definitely enjoyed the reading of the vows.
He was not breaking into tears, he had not broken into tears. Sapnap shut up.
After all of that, the whole wedding ceremony finished and done with, Quackity was sitting on the living room couch, he had changed out of the suit after he was done with it, storing it in a nice glass case. Sapnap’s reaction when he had seen it had been priceless.
Sapnap walked in, so did Karl about two minutes after.
Quackity was distracted, so he greeted them with only a wave before returning to what he was doing, humming as he cooked dinner.
His wings flapped behind him, a display of how happy he was, though…
Wait his wings?
Karl raised his eyebrow, “Quackity, my beloved and new husband, when were you going to tell us you had wings?”
Quackity immediately swallowed, hard. He had honestly forgotten that his fiancees had never actually seen his wings. No wonder nothing had gone wrong during the ceremony.
“Uhhhh,” he started, though that technically wasn’t the best start. They both fixed him with decidedly unimpressed looks, and Quackity sweat-dropped a bit.
“Would you believe me if I told you that I forgot that you didn’t know about them.”
His wings flapped nervously behind him, jutting very obviously out of his t-shirt, he had just gotten married, and clearly had been too happy to pay too much attention to which article of clothing he had been putting on.
He hadn’t had the presence of mind to bind his wings.
Schlatt had hated his wings, especially considering that Quackity couldn’t fly. They had taken great pleasure in pinning him to the ground and slowly tearing out his feathers, watching his pained expressions with a sadistic smile on their face.
He flinched away from his two fiancees, food forgotten incredibly quickly as he instinctively drew his wings back.
They were staring at him, Karl was holding a book in his hands, he had clearly wanted to rant about it. Sapnap was playing with a ball of fire.
They had been in such a good mood, he had been in such a good mood. Now Quackity and his wings were ruining things again.
Of course nothing in his life could be perfect, Quackity didn’t know why he expected otherwise.
“Quack- co- ba-”
Oh they were speaking to him, Quackity couldn’t hear them over the frantic pounding of his heart. He couldn’t speak or even respond to them.
But it was fine wasn’t it? If he couldn’t hear them or speak to them, then he could pretend that they weren’t pulling feathers out of his wings and bruising the skin around his back.
Against his will, however, his brain latched onto their voices. His heart had always taken them as safe, so it was no wonder that his head would follow.
He expected pain when he finally came out of the state he was in, but there was nothing.
That was immediately suspicious to him.
Quackity looked around, he moved his wings to get a good look at them, catching the attention of his two fiancees who were crouched near to him.
“Quackity? Are you okay?” Karl asked, his voice had taken on a worried tone but he was altogether calm.
“Quackity, you’re safe. Please tell us you’re alright,” Sapnap said after. He was slightly more frantic in his actions.
They seemed to be acting harmless, they weren’t being menacing and they certainly didn’t seem angry, but Quackity could be reading it wrong.
He checked over his wings, not answering them for fear of a sudden burst of anger from either of them.
His wings were fine, his feathers undamaged.
He looked back up at his fiancees. Or he realises, his husbands now. Maybe. No he couldn’t.
“My wings, are they not- are they not ugly to you?” He stammered out.
“No, Quackity, why would you think that about your wings? Why would you think that we thought they were ugly. They’re beautiful love.” Sapnap said, his eyes were open and gleaming, sincerity shining through them.
“But. Schlatt said they were-”
“-Are we Schlatt?” Karl asked.
“Well no but-”
“-Then no buts. We love them and we love you.”
Quackity still doubted their words and opened his mouth to speak his reasons.
“No Quackity, I saw the podium and I know what it was for. I checked the material with my own two hands and I know you paid extra money to fireproof everything.”
Sapnap nodded and continued after Karl.”I saw how much you worked to make it clear that you were thinking of us, as you made the wedding preparations and handled everything so that we wouldn’t have to. We love you whether you have wings or not.”
Quackity wasn’t much of a crier, again Sapnap he hadn’t cried at the wedding, but even he couldn’t help it when he grasped his husband’s clothes and buried his face in their shoulders.
They didn’t say anything more. Did they really need to?
