Occasionally, Misty spends her lunch break at Cerulean Cape. She loves leaning against the white picket fence overlooking the vast blue, shimmering waves. Closing her eyes, she relishes the crash of the waves, and the salty tang of the coastal air. For a moment, she knows peace.
A peace suddenly disturbed by giggles.
Misty side-eyes the young couple now standing a few yards away. The two teenagers lean in and kiss, and Misty’s jaw clenches.
No, Misty chides herself. Stop being envious. Love will find you too.
Pouting, she returns her gaze to the sea, wishing the wait would end.
